Firearms 16" AR Ballistic Advantage, Tool Craft, ALG with Vortex SE 1-6

Having a few extra parts sitting around has turned into building another upper then getting a lower for it and having an extra rifle I don't actually need too many times. I have more ARs than I need and this configuration is redundant. I also have some other AR parts stilling around so I don’t mind swapping a few things to align to what a buyer is looking for.

  • 16” 5.56 Ballistic Advantage modern series barrel with mid-length gas port, 1-7 twist and black nitride coating.
  • Adjustable gas block
  • Tool Craft BCG with black nitride coating. C158 bolt that is MPI, staked gas key bolts, etc.
  • ALG Defense 13” M-LOK Ergo free float hand guard. I have a co-witness rail section for it for adding a front sight.
  • Strike Industries chagrin handle.
  • Muzzle brake(I think it’s Strike Industries)
  • PSA receivers. Lower was purchased as a full MOE lower with their EPT fire control group.
  • Magpul MOE stock
  • Magpul K2 grip(I swapped from the MOE grip)
  • EPT fire control group: Polished and nickel boron coated trigger parts
  • Currently has a Vortex Strike Eagle Gen II 1-6 scope on it zeroed at 50 yards for 75gr Hornady BTHP
  • Scope in Aero Precision mount
  • I'll include 1 30 round mag

ALG hand guard, strike industries charging handle and Vortex scope were used on previous rifles but everything else was brand new with just one range trip to zero it with only about 20 rounds fired. It shoots well with 1/2-3/4" group at 50 yards when zeroing with 75 gr Hornady BTHP.

$750 for the full set up with scope.
$500 for rifle with out scope.

I can reconfigure with a Sig Romeo 5 red dot and/or some Magpul Mbus flip up sights if the buyer prefers that. I can also swap in a CMC or Rise Armament trigger if the buyer wants for a little more.

Can only ship to an FFL and to a state where this is legal. I have a local FFL that can act as a shipping FFL for a small fee if your FFL won't accept shipments form an individual.

Powder Selection

I am looking to buy either 2400 or Accurate#9 as both are available to me locally. I already have H110, LiL Gun, Titegroup, and CFE PIstol in large quantities, but I am wanting to try another powder just for the fun of it. Just looking for opinions on which and why in the calibers I will be using it in. I am looking to use this new powder choice in 357 Mag, 45Colt, 41 Mag and possibly 327 Fed Mag. Thanks!

Action Bedding

Has anyone ever heard of doing an action bedding job that adds powdered titanium to either Acra Glass or Marinetex? I know Devcon makes a "titanium putty". Many don't like it due to fast curing time and short pot life.

I'm contemplating bedding a blueprinted R700SA into a McMillan A6 Adjustable stock and adding titanium powder to the epoxy. As much as I can; 1:1, 1:2...etc.

Any pearls or pitfalls? Is it doable?

What should be the next?

Hi, I am a bench rest shooter, hoping to participate in some local match.

And I have a Areopreision Solus Competition 22" 6.5CM chambered, Vortex PST Gen II, Harris bipod, and Area419 Hellfire Match.

So, when I shoot over 600yard paper target, the top and bottom length is 9 inch, 6 inch wide.

Everybody told me that is due to your factory ammo, Horandy 6.5CM 140grs ELDM, and factory barrel.

As you can see, within 100yard and 200 yards, groups are, I THINK, pretty small and tight.

But when it comes to long range, it spread.

and last pic, you see that I just checked hornady 140gr 6.5CM ELDM, and ES was 100, and SD was 25

So, what I am really wanna ask is, what is the next step? What should I do for the better performance

Handloading, one of my friend will give a RCBS press, so I am waiting for that

Custom barrel? I think i need for now, I can swap the custom barrel, So i will go to local gun smith, but

what is the best custom barrel? Proof research's one is not the custom barrel?

300 WM brass destroyed.

Hornady brass, 5 cycle with 79.4 grain StaBALL HD with 208 ELDM with speed 2940 fps.
Rem 700 LR SS 26" 1 - 10.
Around .030" from lands ( I think so )

Brass deformed and crack formed near the belt.
No visible signs of pressure on primer. Should look on photo to understand what happens.

The difference in 5 cycle I switched to S&B magnum primer, before for 4 cycles used Ginex.

My question is what do you think went wrong? Or 5 cycle is the lifetime of the Hornady brass?

What you would suggest to not get it again?

Quality Chamber Job - Smith Recommendations

I've been living in the land of prefits for my Zermatt actions. I have access to a reamer and a barrel that I'd like to get chambered and threaded. Don't mind sending my action in if it makes it that much better.

Looking for recommendations on someone trustworthy that would do a good job dialing it in and cutting it. Wait time isn't super crucial but I've been quoted 8 weeks by a couple. Price isn't the determining factor but I've seen some that are quite high IMO. I don't have anyone local that's worth a crap so I've all but decided to ship it all out. In NW AR. if it happens to matter.

Just looking to see who you would trust to chamber an expensive barrel.

New Chassis on the market

We got a new sponsor this year at our annual 2-day match. The company is S2Delta and is run by 2 marine corps recon vets. And is just getting into the precision rifle side of the industry. Wished i would have gotten some pictures of it then but their website has some.

I got to shoot a pre-production model recently on the zero/practice day. I am not really a chassis guy (I shoot a foundation) but I was impressed. The fit and finish of the chassis was great, and it hit all the key features plus its ambidextrous.

The chassis is set up for Remington 700 clones and the one I shot was Beragara. It was rigid and didn’t have that ring or twang like a lot of the other chassis I have shot. The grip placement felt very similar to my centurion, in terms if angle and distance. The arca worked perfectly with my RRS clamp that is set up for my foundation rail. It is set up to use AR style grips and buffer tube for the butt stock. I did feel like it was a little light overall for PRS but might be really nice for the NRL Hunter. I spoke to one of the owners, and he explained the fore-end is M-LOK so adding a weight kit would be easy and allow us to tune the balance point. The chassis is also ambidextrous and easily add a thumb rest to either side.

Additionally the one I shot shot had a prototype of their new butt stock has tool-less adjustment and is super simple and light weight. I’m not sure when they are releasing that, but it should be pretty soon. The whole assembled chassis is less than 3 pounds. The main chassis is up on their website for $299.

They also are looking at potentially doing a magnesium chassis that would come in assembled under 2

Savage Mark II - Any chassis options??

First off, how stiff is the MDT field stock?

I'd rather have aluminum if there's any options out there......what's the purpose you ask?

I want to mount my my Luna Elir3 and SiCo Radius to us it at night......just looking for an off the shelf option if one exists.

If anyone has already been down this path with a custom option I'm open to ideas/pics as well

Thanks in advance and here's a current pic

Pressure question…virgin vs fire formed

Quick question on pressure…I’m sure it’s a math problem and my gut tells me the answer is yes, but wanted to ask the masses…

Given identical charge weight, seating depth, bullet, neck tension, etc..all variables the same except virgin vs fire formed brass.

If an initial load was a tad hot for my liking, bolt swipes but no dimpled primers, with virgin brass, will the slight increase in case volume with fire formed brass shoulders bumped back 1 thou or just brought to chamber, will pressure at same charge weight be less?

I’d like to just shoot this load and be done with it, as speed, ES/SD all looked great and it was what I needed for accuracy out to distance. I’d be ok with it if pressure will drop on the 2nd loading, but don’t want to push the rifle this hard if it’s a negligible decrease.

PRI Mk 12 Mod 0 gen III: how gassy with a flow-through suppressor?

Thinking of getting one of these, but absolutely hate gas to the face. I just like the look of them, but am not hung up on clone-correctness.

I have a Surefire RC3 that I’d use on it.

I’m not an AR guru, so if it is indeed a bit gassy even with a RC3 I’m not sure how big a pain it is to install different gas tubes in order to tune it? I’d want to keep that unique gas block as it looks cool.

I assume the handguard needs to come off. The mk12 mod 0 gen III flip-up front sight gas block apparently comes in set-screw and cross-bolt variants, and I’m unsure which one ships with the one I’m interested in.

Perhaps both are equally easy to remove to install a gas tube?

Be gentle, pretty AR-noob here. I might have everything backwards and wrong lol

CZ 455 stock/chassis suggestions

I got back into shooting and found that my CZ 455 has been discontinued for a number of years and thus my options for aftermarket stocks/chassis have also deteriorated. The synthetic stock would be difficult to pillar bed and the barrel is not free floating so something needs to be done.

The gun will eventually be my dedicated hunting rifle, but used mostly for PRS/NRL matches until I get a competition rig. The type of hunting I do is usually for squirrels and raccoons which involves a lot of walking.

I don't want to spend a lot on a 455 competition chassis knowing it will be incompatible with my next build (RimX or CZ 457). I like the look of a traditional stock, I just can't find anyone (KRG, GRS, Manners) who is still selling a 455 inlet unless I go with a cheaper Boyd's and those don't come pillar-bedded.

I'm leaning towards an MDT LSS. Not sure which buttstock. Thinking of going with a Luth-AR MBA-3 or the MDT Skeleton Carbine Lite. I'm waiting for MDT's Black Friday sale so I'm open to suggestions until then.
