I bought a few Prime Ribs while they were on sale for Christmas with the intent of vacuum sealing and freezing them (well, all but one). I borrowed a FoodSaver V2440 from my sister and bought the expandable bags, but holy shit was this a frustrating experience. The machine would constantly fail to pull enough vacuum to empty the bag of oxygen and then seal. Sometimes the bag seemed empty but it refused to seal.

One prime rib I sealed I just took out of the fridge and it had a pocket of air in it. The meat has a faint sour odor but feels fine (not slimey) and doesn't otherwise seem obviously bad. I'm going to freeze it for use anyway and I just won't serve it to guests. But, I'm pissed off and frustrated by the entire experience with the FoodSaver's reluctance to do its job.

I know there has to be vacuum sealer users here. What do you guys use? Anyone have experience with VacMaster? Should I give FoodSaver another shot with a new machine?

I haven’t posted in a min. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Over the holidays, I’ve been working on a new build. Just finished getting this .308 Aero build put together. I’m getting ready to put some glass on it. While I haven’t made the purchase quite yet, I’m pretty set on an NX8 2.5-20. I considered the Leupold mark5 3.5-18 but have pretty well settled on the nx8. I have a question about the nx8 and scope rings. I'm worried about the short tube area at the front of the NX8 that everyone talks about... but first, here’s the stick.




By the way, I completely underestimated what this pig would weigh. I don't know what naked weight is, but with a fully loaded 20 rnd mag, this thing weighs in at 12.2 lbs before the scope and mount get added. Sheesh.

Ok, back to my reason for the post: the NX8 obviously has an usually small tube area toward the front of the scope. I've seen that this could possibly be an issue for some rings/mounts. I would like to mount it in a single-body QD mount if I can. I plan to add another thermal to the fleet soon and I'd like to change between the nx8 and thermal relatively easy on this rifle if possible. This is the main reason for wanting a quick detach scope mount. With all that said, I'm just hoping someone who's familiar with the NX8 2.5-20 could chime in and comment on some quick-release scope mounts that have worked well on the NX8 or even mention some that definitely DONT work on the NX8. Maybe it's a non-issue, but I don't want to do a trial by error if the crew at the hide could help me beforehand. If not I'll end up finding out myself and I'll report back here.

Asside from that any input or opinion on this setup is more than welcome. This is my first AR10 build so I'm learning as I go. Here's some details if anyone cares. Aero M5 upper and lower. Armaspec LPK. 18" Aero Barrel. Aero .308 BCG. Dead Air Nomad 30 can. Headed to a field in Texas soon for hog control.

Side note, I called GA precision to see if they would build me their GAP-15 in .223 for the matches and they said they arnt stocking 223 bolts or barrels. I'd consider the GAP-15 in 6 arc but ive been told its a dying round and the bolts are breaking. Im not very interested in building my own gun or much tuning. Id prefer getting something off the shelf that works.

Hey all. Idk which section this really belongs in- but here goes.

When I go to rifle matches, I keep most of my stuff that isn’t permanently in my shooting pack in a couple of medium to large plastic. Totes. Everything is just kinda floating around in there and I have to dig around for all my stuff. This is everything from spray lube to spotting scope, shooting bags, match book savers, tool pouches etc.

I’m not good at coking up with an organization plan, but I’m good at following one! Just looking for your ideas. Or maybe products you use.

Looking for some opinions based in real world experience with these two thermals. I currently own an N Vision Halo X35 and love it but want something with built in LRF. Being a happy N Vision owner, the natural progression would be the XRF but I’ve had the IRay RH50R recommended by several people. For the price, if it does what the XRF does and offers the same reliability and resolution, I’ll jump on it.

Anyone had the chance to compare or own both of these that can give an opinion?

Got a Cabela’s gift card and need a swager for some crimped 223. Anyone have experience with the rcbs bench mounted swager? I’d probably prefer the Dillon, but Cabela’s doesn’t have them. Any real world difference?

This one barrel has only 50 rounds, it shoots 1/3MOA with handloads, only reason its up for sale is I'm putting PRS on pause for next year, I have a crazy project at work coming up and I'll be traveling a lot, hence letting some of the consumables go as I don't want them to decay, rust or anything like that.

NOTE: The only cosmetic issue with it is on the bottom of the shank, the cerakote has a couple of marks from my barrel press, when I was installing this barrel I didn't tight the press screws all the way and the barrel slipped, hence the marks... anyways, they are on the bottom, once you attach it to the action and set the action in your chassis/stock those marks are not visible, but wanted to let you know (the barrel is not marred in any way, but the cerakote has those visible marks).

Given the cosmetic issue, I can let it go for 550 bucks shipped (new from TS Customs they go for 900+, save yourself 300+ Dollars and buy this one instead), the cosmetic issue does not interfere with the barrel fit and function in any way. I'm aware that ARC's are Savage Small Shank and will work on other SSS with a barrel nut.
I seem to remember one or more ARC shouldered barrel tenons were the same as one of the Impact actions.

I got this unit from the group buy awhile back. The range finder has worked fine until recently when it will give me an “Err 1” code about half the time when I’m ranging. I can’t figure out what that means. Does anyone have a reference for what that means? I’ve tried changing batteries and cleaning lenses. Thanks.
