Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Is returned without action applicable to paper forms as well? I htought it was just e form.

Edit: The atf finally picked up the phone and says it was received Dec 6th, still pending. I know I was that cap armory had the status of mailed very shortly after I bought it. What the heck.

It was intended more to be an off-hand comment made out of frustration.

I just called for an update on my last two applications prior to receiving my license, and was on hold for less than a minute (that's about 10:55EST for those keeping track of such things). My paper F4 (trust, 1RP) submitted in Aug. '21 was approved on 9/6; that's roughly 395 calendar days. I'll call my dealer in a couple of weeks if they don't call me first. My F4 submission from Oct. '21 is still pending, so I didn't receive the privilege of batch approval :( I guess I'll call back on that one around Thanksgiving.

You get the "Ready to Certify" email once all of the steps to submit your application are complete, you will just follow the link in the email and enter your username and pin connecting to your ATF eForms account. Once you and your dealer certify your application, the tax stamp payment is processed and your application is sent to the ATF. You can certify remotely actually, no need to use the dealer's kiosk for this step. - Chase

I have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about. There's no link in the email to anything other than Silencer Shop. I created an account with ATF and when I log in there I see nothing other than the ability to submit new eforms.

Your email states something about a session or logging onto a session that the dealer has to create?

That is correct, Mike. You will log into your Silencer Shop account. You can contact your dealer, they will set up the certification session, and there you should use your ATF eForms account information. If you or the dealer have questions and would like to connect over a phone call, we're available to help you out: 512-931-4556

Ok, I follow you now. Got ahold of the dealer and we tried it, what an abortion. The system crashed.

I have 2 e-files with silencer central from March that I'm waiting on. I was out of signal for about 5 hours yesterday and when I could check my email, I had 2 back to back from silencer central. I was so excited, then I opened them up and they basically said that nothing has happened and that we are still waiting. Talk about an emotional roller-coaster. Ugh

have you gotten the emails from the efile system that alert you to system maintenance? Those are real emotional roller coasters, given that your approved application and stamp are sent from the efile system email address.

Hey, didn't know. That other dude got his approved in 2 months. LOL
I don't ever have that kind of luck.... my dealer said they are seeing eforms 4-6 months so, maybe I will be getting my R6 and Nomad L sometime in the next month or 2. I've got one other 22 can in the hopper from my buddies place that was some kind of "eform" but i never did the certify thing with them and I really don't understand what they did so who knows when that will arrive. I'd be super happy if I can just get the other Nomad and the R6 but I'm still on the high from getting that call out of the blue today and picking up 2 cans so it's all good. That Nomad Ti is so slick and light. I have a form 1 Ti can but the Nomad Ti is so much lighter.

Have to get some Dot5 brake fluid tomorrow to coat it on the inside before I start shooting it, and do the Oculus as well

I ordered a TBAC Dominus 10/21, check cashed about a month later. Emailed my representatives, the only one that got back to me was the Democrat. He’s about as far left as they come. Received a letter yesterday saying my background check proceeded 8/24/22. Hopefully I’m getting close.

Seeing more days added to efile form 4. Last week it was reports of 190 to 198 days. Now I'm seeing new approvals at 204 days. It's like loan shark compounding interest.
Yup. Pretty annoying. Today is day 201 seems like I’m always like 2-3 days behind the approvals that keep pushing out. Wonder if late February, early March was a huge rush or something.

The shitty part is I purchased the Nomad the same day as my SF-SB2 but the surefire was ready to certify early feb and the system kept crashing every time I went in to certify my nomad so it took another 28 days or so to get it certified…I got my SB2 in 152 days that 28 day difference has turned into like 50 on the back end.

I seem to remember that a lot of guys had issues with the initial SilencerShop submission process in January. Wonder if they’ve got any data behind how many finally shoved through and got cashed in late February / early March? I bet there is at least correlation between an increase of cashed stamps and delay now.

basically they have put most, if not all, eforms on hold to go through the paper forms. so they are just on September '21 paper forms.

i bet they dont get back on approving eforms until around Turkey day this year.

Man I hope your correct! If so I’m close to a week past due. Really hoping for that phone call fairly soon.

checked cashed on mine on march 18, 21 i called yesterday and left message.
Now, I don't have a crystal ball or any insight into the Form 4 processing aside from my personal experience which also included engaging a constituent service staffer of my Federal Senator and the replies from both ATF and FBI and how I got it resolved.

But, I would bet some large green that Form 4's that are held up far beyond the current processing backlog, as is yours, are caught up in a DELAY by the FBI's ATF NICS Transaction department.

No telling why some are put on DELAY. But the AFT, once they actually fucking look at your submittal, sends a NICS transaction to the FBI's section that handles ATF requests for background checks.

If there is any issue whatsoever, neither the ATF nor the FBI seem to give a flying fuck and will do nothing to clear it up nor will they even tell you its detailed status. All you get from the AFT is "Pending" which means fuck all.

If you are put on DELAY by the FBI, you have zero process for recourse. If you are DENIED, there is an appeal process. DELAY....you are in purgatory.

Why can a NICS check, in response to an ATF Form 4 request, is put on DELAY is anybody's guess. Could be there is someone else with your name out there who has some sort of FBI file and they can't determine if its you or them. Could be that its just sitting under a box of donuts on someone's desk.

The later is my guess at what happened to mine. Senator's office pinged the ATF who came back and actually provided some useful information....to wit, that I had been on DELAY with the FBI NICS for months (and yes, nobody seems to have any responsibility to actually tell you this so you can work to clear it up). The AFT merely told my Senator's office to advise me to contact the FBI....all 35,000 of them? Sigh.

For the average citizen, there is no help desk number for FBI NICS and in particular the section that handles ATF transactions. All you can do is request your FBI file (needs fingerprint card and $$ if I remember correctly...its on their website) and see what's in it that is holding your background check up. Chances are, you don't have an FBI file with any derogatory information in it.

In my case, I found a help desk email for the UPIN (unique personal identifier number) team. I explained that I understood that this does not fall under their team's responsibility but perhaps they could tell me who I could contact as I have absolutely ZERO FBI file to the best of my knowledge. I attached all relevant documentation and correspondence.

I was lucky and hit the jackpot and actually got a live wire in the UPIN team who responded the very next day. He/She told me that they reached out to the supervisor of the NICS ATF Transaction section and that my NICS check was "recently approved and a PROCEED was sent back to the AFT".

I thanked them profusely and asked "by the by, what does "recently" mean exactly and was told "yesterday when I asked about it".

Yeah, those are our fucking tax dollars at work....our local ATF apologist nothwithstanding (look back in this thread and you will see who I'm talking about...I'm not tagging this shithead as I don't want to hear any more of his BS).

So, suddenly my Form 4 was broke free and my FFL got my stamp...oh, about two weeks after prying my background check out of the FBI.

Personally, I intend to file for a UPIN. Again, finger prints and $$.

I have never been put on DELAY before COVID and I've been put on DELAY for every NICS check since. But here's the kicker, they call my FFL back....been anywhere from an hour or so to 15 fucking minutes...and provide an approval. My FFL, who is a way cool gal, told me that they used to have actual examiners answer the phone and if there was any confusion or issue (like someone with same name but different DOB, SS #, state of residence, etc) they would clear it up instantly (yeah, that's what the I stands for in NICS). She tells me now they have people who just answer the phone and if the computer chokes on anything at all, it goes to DELAY and sent to an examiner who apparently actually has a bit of grey matter and can look at the details, your FBI file (if any actually exists), etc.

This process is not only fucked by incompetence and flawed bureaucratic process, you really have no recourse for due process and some shithead civil servant deprives you of your 2A rights.

Yes, I'm not a fan of the Federal government.

Hope this is helpful....made me feel better to vent about it all! hahaha

Best of luck and I advise you to contact your Federal representative's office and initiate an inquiry. Remember, stay POLITE and COURTEOUS at all times and don't use the profanity or express the contempt that I did in this post on the Hide. Pissing them off won't help.

Cheers

Still waiting for approval
Contacted my rep 51 days ago. ATF responded with an email to my rep that the FBI responded with a "proceed" on 7/11/2022 and the application is just awaiting "final processing". Here I am.......still waiting!!
