Armalite won't give me any info since I'm not a dealer (just the one paying for the parts).

I think my riflesmith has received all the necessary parts for an upper except the 10T upper assembly and, possibly, the barrel extension. (I know, minor details.) As with many other people, these parts have been on order for more than a year.

Armalite hasn't listed uppers in stock for a long time. Does anyone here have any (reasonably) solid information about when uppers might be produced and made available? (I realize Armalite probably is working to create complete rifles since the margin is better.)

Thank you,
Richard

You should check out DSG Arms...I know they stock several parts for Armalite + I've always had good service from them. Not sure if they have what you're looking for in stock - but, regardless it's worth checking out?

You won't likely get any definitive info, but generally speaking...its the same story, just 9mos later from your post earlier this year about the same problem (and I'm sorry to hear you are still in the same boat).

In short...Armalite isn't shipping ANY of the items you need to my knowledge at this point and I don't think anybody, including Armalite, has any legitimate idea of when those parts will be delivered to Armalite directly, to fill backorders with individuals or dealers alike...PERIOD. I've not seen ANY dealer have inventory on receivers (uppers or lowers) in a LONG time now...not this year to the best of my recollection. As for the bbl extension...DSG has them in stock right now: Armalite AR10 Barrel Extension w/ Feed Ramps Phosphate

Just keep checking the retail side of the market with places like DSGArms, 762SASS, Rainier Arms, the BARFCOM AR-10 Equipment Exchange section, our own Hide Options/Accessories forum, etc. Parts are floating around...but there's no rhyme or reason to their available or lack thereof at this point. As for the upper...just remember that there is NO functional difference between the AR-10 and AR-10T uppers aside from the lengthened port door rod necessary for mounting a free-float, railed or otherwise, handguard on the upper. All you need is a 1/8" longer port door rod and you are GTG! ;)

1.5 year back order per Armalite as of last month for stripped uppers

I still have parts if anybody needs them. Upper with no forward assist, ejection port door installed, BCG, and charge handle. All new sold ad package. PM me for more info.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. My riflesmith reports that Armalite just charged his credit card for an amount that equates to the AR-10T upper receiver. I think all the parts are now in or on the way.

Of course, there's no real hurry because I am still waiting for the approval to take possession of my suppressor. No sense installing the barrel only to have to take it off again to thread it correctly.

I know thier AR-10 Mags seem to back in stock. I just ordered 4 15rnd mags and they came with in a week. So maybe things are looking up. I want a AR-10T Carbine now but the web site has everything marked as out of stock.

It makes zero sense for them to undercut themselves with critical parts sales out from their production cycle, when demand for complete rifles has been steady even before Sandy Hook/Hussein.

The margins on parts sales are not what they are for complete rifles, and there are tons of new buyers looking to get into the big boy AR rifles and carbines.
It sucks for those of us who want the better BCG with the springed firing pin, and .060" firing pin hole.

just got a BCG complete here;

Armalite does release some stuff every now and then. just got a bolt I had backordered for about 10mo.

on Ar15.com under the industry section Armalite states all uppers and lowers are used to make complete rifles
with no dates to release them separately. business must be good.

A friend of mine asked me to help him buy an Armalite AR-10 as a host for a .260 Remington project. Within a week or two, he had purchased a 16" Carbine, a .338 Federal, and (2) .260 Rem AR-10T's.

He developed a really nice load for the 142gr SMK at 2740fps, after totally working over his bolt, truing the face, polishing it to a mirror, taking the edges off the bolt face extractor shelf, polishing & de-edging the ejector, cleaning up the bolt lugs, and taking the edge off the firing pin hole.

I've got some inside info with Armalite. Right now they're working on finishing up a lot of back orders. They are totally redoing the whole production line and changing a lot of what you will see next year. There are several items that will be filled due to back orders, but they will stop listing them online and in next years catalog (Can't say what since it hasn't been released). They were recently bought out and due to the new ownership (and much more progressive mindsets) things will be changing and production will kick back up. They, like many companies.. run one type of firearm for a complete run then swap tooling for the next type. I'd give them some time and you should see things running full steam next year.

Interesting:

There’s word tonight that Armalite, the parent company of the AR-15 rifle and one of the major firearms manufacturers in Illinois, has been sold to SAC (Strategic Armory Corp). SAC also owns AWC Silencers and Surgeon Rifles, two quality brands. It looks like SAC is trying to build up a Freedom Group killer, but instead of buying the big brand names and ruining them they’re buying quality. Hopefully this isn’t the beginning of a race to the bottom for these companies. Press release after the jump.

Phoenix, AZ July 23, 2013 – Strategic Armory Corps (“SAC”) announced today that it has acquired ArmaLite, Inc. ArmaLite is a leading manufacturer of a complete line of semiautomatic rifles, including the M15 and AR-10 lines, and an expanding line of advanced bolt action rifles in a wide range of calibers from .308 Winchester through .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua, and .416 Barrett to the massive AR-50A1 .50 caliber rifle. Mark Westrom, the seller of ArmaLite, will remain as an investor in SAC and will serve on its board of managers.

I don't know how the sale will effect this but Glenn Minton, Manager of the parts sales at Armalite told me they weren't in the parts selling business they were in the rifle building business. At one time I purchased quite a bit from them as an 07. I don't but any parts from them now and haven't for a year. They don't have anything.
