Al Qaeda retakes Fallujah

Have you seen what they have done to Red Beach at Tarawa? Its a garbage dump. Khe Sahn was abandoned almost immediatly after it was defended at great cost. Not being a prick, its the ebb and flow of battle or the march of history. I feel bad for those that fought and died there but I think what they did taught a lot of insurgents a lesson that saved lives through the rest of the stay in Iraq.

Im less alarmed by Fallujah going to Al Quaeda than by the denial in this country of certain realities and allowing the destruction of our Constitution. We are becoming what we fear while laying out the welcome mat for Fallujah to come here.

I havent served since 1991. I mean no offense to anyone that has done such amazing things since 2001. All war is political. This one with religion and PC added in just really seems to go about throwing salt and alcohol in all wounds with much more regularity and disregard.

Agreed. Funny you mention Khe Sahn, I'm trying to plan a trip to Vietnam this year and am working on the logistics of visiting Khe Sahn while I'm there.

Ive seen news reports of those that have gone to Khe Sanh and from what they have shown there is not much there. We levelled it when we left and I guess the new management can spin it as a "great victory" by claiming they made the Americans leave but a trip in to the jungles would probably still evidence shreds and remains of the NVA battalions that were blasted into oblivion in those hills.

The war in Iraq was started for all the wrong reasons and was ran by people that had little to no strategic plan on what they were doing. For all the evil that Saddam Hussein was he was the counter-balance to the Iran/Shia hordes that are now dominating the crescent from Iran to Lebanon and we will pay a deep cost, as well as Israel, for unleashing the beast of Shia and Iranian Persian reemergence of their empire from the 1500 until the 1900's when the U.S. ruined that one too in 1953. The one real consequence of the war in Iraq was the lack of strategic thought from the U.S. on the unintended consequences going forward.

Syria is now the battle for Shia dominance but they are not doing all too well. It is harder to fight an insurgency then to participate in one. I think it is time for the U.S. to do to Iran what they did to us in Iraq. I would love to see some EFP's be dealt against Iranians and Hizballah fighters especially since they don't have uparmored vehicles.

AQI taking over Fallujah for a short period of time is more telling of the lack of control the Shia dominated government forces operating in the Al Anbar Province. Maliki has his hands full handling the Sunni's in Iraq and the Kurds are always there to give him a hard time too when ever it fits their goals. And, the U.S. government is left supporting the Shia because we put them there and it just may be a losing cause. The Shia government will always side with the Shia in Iraq unless it because an Arab versus Persian issue.

The Middle East - what a mess!!!

The fact that nothing really remains there is why I want to go. It's hallowed ground to the Marine Corps, and the fact that so many fought so hard there, only to give it up after "winning" it, makes it somehow more important for me to go and "remember" what happened there. Very few battles result in world-altering changes, or have monuments erected at their sites. They remain significant because WE remember them, and hold them and the men who fought there to be important.

It's a good thing that we aren't involved with Syria.

Iran's Special Forces(Pasdaran if I recall) are supporting Assad's forces. Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist factions, are supporting the rebels. Couple that with Syria being one of the first countries to send insurgents after us, during the March to Baghdad no less.

Good thing we stayed out of it, they might have stopped killing each other.

"War's good business, give your son.", seems appropriate as well. The war in Iraq was all about Halliburton.

Our next foray there should by by nuke missile only. There are no good actors from the Med to the China/India border, just make them glow, do the world a favor. As far as Vietnam, its debatable who won or lost, they are on a steady march to Capitalism, they just took the painful route. China scares the hell out of them, they are turning more and more towards us, look to them to be one of our strongest allies in 10 years or less. Nuke Saudi Arabia today, they are our true enemy.

"Today, you people are no longer maggots. Today, you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother. Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever."
Gunny Hartmann

It might have been said by a fictional character but it was said by a Marine probably working without a script. It is appropriate. Thank you for your efforts.

Thanks to our current naive administration, the Mullahs controlling Hassan Rouhani will be the first to set the Middle East on nuclear fire. From there, it is a matter of which way the wind blows.

I think any administration that has dealt with the muslim world any differently than Thomas Jefferson is naive. Its lose lose whenever you deal with tribes, just nukem.

"War is a Racket"

Written by Marine General Smedley D. Butler, MOH 2X.

Writing from his experience of fighting all over the world in the name of the United Fruit Company and other business interests.

A strong believer in for God and Country but not so much to promote the business of a company by altering a sovereign nations internal politics. Gen Butler was approached by a faction of businessmen in the 1930's wanting to overthrow FDR because of his socialist policies. Gen Butler was a firm believer in the Republic and the law.

Times change yet remain the same.

A worthwhile read:

War is a Racket

Criminal wate of tax monies and more proof of a political class straying from the bonds society should hold it to.

If a war is just it need not be marketed...yet they all are.

Afghanistan was as just a war that could be had. I dont know what it has been allowed to become. A goal crystal clear in its self evident nature now shrouded in fog while the hard work continues. Twice this past week the flag was at half mast for Marines returning to MA.

Careful there! This could be considered a Seditious concept.

Back to Fallujah.

Al Maliki and Iran have overplayed their hands and Al Qaeda is trying to force Iran to deal with problems closer to home and away from Syria. Quds force recruiting will be in overdrive to deal with the needs of a second front.

There were plenty of Chem/Bio weapons taken out by US ground troops...It just wasn't on the news. In one particular incedent, as late as Jan, 2007 25 fuel tankers of various chem's were captured and destroyed.

And what is truly sad about that is if they were child molesting, drug using celebrities named Michael Jackson they would be all over the news and social media. But they are not. They are just Marines voluntarily giving up their lives for their country....who would make a big to do about that?

You guys did kick some ass Delta 4, my own son included. Still early days to start second guessing. First Faluja was a tragedy, shoulda taken the leash off then and there, second one snuffed out a lot of bad guys, a lot. Lets see what happens. Whether we should have gone in to Iraq or not is good Monday morning QB'ing by many. I myself am very okay snuffing out that whole region for good.

Yeah its too bad. We will keep shedding blood and treasure in our delusional attempt to appease the "peaceful" people in that region while while denying that the overwhelming majority there would very happy to kill and/or subjugate the Christian world. You call it genocide I call it self preservation.

Thankfully your zeal for genocide is not shared by most.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Perhaps the "Made in USA" stickers would have conflicted with the desired narrative.

Must have been a MAPP mission. Will the CMP get that stuff? I could use me some bio, cant hit shit with this one bullet challenge.

I have no zeal for genocide but I wont put my head in the sand ostrich style.

The muslim world may have a legitimate bitch going back to Sykes-Picot but these guys fighting the Crusades over will not negotiate or let you live in peace. They are bringing genocide to you.

This thread delivers! *CoUgH*

touché. Im trying to convince myself I did something worth while...you're not helping! ;)

Delta4-3

Less evil walks the world because of your efforts. I thank you for the cost it took on you and your family and applaud your courage.

Iraq and Afghanistan is my/our generations Vietnam. As usual politicians used us for their zeal to make a lasting legend of their time in office. We spent blood and our youth in the desert and won all the battles, but in the end, I think the history of our exploits will be remembered as having little effect on the Middle East and only caused a larger rift and caused many more conflicts...from North Africa to the Middle East it is a blaze with conflict. I spent numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and lost several years of watching my children grow up so I could chase the various "bad guys" around the battlefield. I can be philosophical about it now but there was a time when just mentioning it would send me into a rage.

I was promoted there during a tour by my dad, a Vietnam Marine. I've been to Khe Sanh a total of two times and there are still remnants of the fighting there...

People should not be suprised, what did you think would happen after we left? I proudly served and throughout my many deployments in the region, I was not there to solve some nations problems, I was there to do my best to ensure that every wounded Marine or Sailor I layer hands on had the chance to make it home alive (FMF Corpsman). Many times lives are saved but sometimes there is nothing that can be done so we press on and try to do more the next time. Just as we have many people in this country that don't agree with those in power, that region has the same problem and I encountered many that showed compassion and care to us at great risk to their own lives and the lives of their family. I don't argue whether we had been right or wrong for being there, most of the boots on the ground did not care either, we just wanted to take care of each other and come home at the end of our tour. JMHO

Put very well, J. When I think about the real reason behind the reason we were manipulated into being there, especially, Iraq and Afghanistan, I have to work to control my rage.

We have a winner! People think I'm bullshitting when I tell them we came across chemical weapons.

When I get stung by a wasp, I look for the nest. Not just the one that stung me.

You're more likely to die from that wasp sting than some Islamic Bogeyman blowing up your local Dairy Queen.

You won't find any wasp nests around my place, and I haven't been stung in 40 years. My policy is effective.

This thread is sure on the Political side of things, I'd sure hate to see any of you guys banned for violation of the NO Politics rule.

I have pics, video, even a document from congress, declassified a few years ago admitting the findings of chem weapons in Iraq. For the life of me I cant see why they wouldn't want that stuff plastered all over the news. Makes one wonder what else is missing from channel 205 on dish?

It goes back further than that even. This is biblical man, Don't mean to start preaching but this is the fault of Abraham having Ishmael, then having Isaac. Look it up, that region is the same blood line as Ishmael, the undercut step-son. If you are interested in this kind of thing, look up the book The Harbinger. Very, very good read.

that is true and "and he will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone's hand will be against him."

It's really no mystery. All the chem weapons coming out of Syria today are stamped "Property of Saddam Hussein".
