I was just notified by my FFL that they had all three ready for me. So I picked them up, quite surprised by the “short” (relatively speaking) wait.

All were with a trust, single responsible party, and purchased through Silencershop.

So time from first check cashed to silencers and stamps in hand:

Short of sexual favors, I have no idea how you got these so fast! Crazy!

And a trust, too... wow.

What in the world!? Dang, that’s awesome. Congrats. Now if they’d only get around to doing mine from 6/1/19

Or mine from 05/23/19. From reports like this on the forums and Reddit, it looks like the random, out of order short term approvals have returned.

First time individual Form 4 for TBAC Ultra 7 with paperwork mailed on 1/17/2020 via Silencer Shop.

Based on the mixed bag of timeframes here, I am imagining the examiners just shuffling the forms and pulling the next lucky recipient off the top of the stack.

makes me want to put in for another couple stamps to see if i can get lucky. better this than the lottery.

My local dealer told me another customer got his stamp 23 days from purchase!!! Talk about a WTF? The same customer had a friend who bought a can same day, took 10 months for his.

They never went away. This is all just a ploy to reduce avg wait times by creating outliers.
Exactly keeping the "key performance indicators" KPI's where they want them so they don't hire more people or look further into how screwed up there system really is. Keeps there empire the way they want it.

Every organization has metrics they are trying to meet. Why would the NFA be any different. They told me that this is what is happening directly. You don’t have to “buy it”, it’s what is happening.
Sorry if you felt personally attacked. I just grabbed your post as it was handy. I've seen this before from other people, other forums. I took it as people making guesses. If an ATF employee told you they were trying to fake metrics, that is interesting.

No feelings hurt here. Just sharing what I was told. If you search this thread, you will see my deeper explanation. Yes, an atf employee told me this.

I had two different folks at the ATF tell me this as well, and the fact that approval times are being tracked up the chain as a metric with a stated goal of 90 days is public knowledge laid out in their FY19 budget request. No guessing involved, but people can believe whatever they want, including that nonsense sob story the BATF leaked to GunsAmerica a few months ago.

stated goals are nice to have, especially around the first of the new year. the question is, can they keep their new years resolution? my guess is no...but there's always hope.

Lol, nothing to do with new year's resolutions, they requested and got 25 extra bodies and $13.2M in the FY19 budget with the stated goal of drastically speeding up approval times. Appropriations like that come with strings and they have to report their average approval times up the chain. If they don't start showing some improvement in the average wait time after getting these resources, eventually the higher ups will start taking heat, and might get bumped.

What's a good way to lower the average wait times of processed forms in a hurry say, at the end of the FY that you got your extra resources? Easy, pull from near the top of the stack, an injection of these younger forms will lower your average age of forms processed and make it look like you're accomplishing something with all that money and manpower. Kind of sounds similar to what happened this past fall right around the end of the FY?

If you're really ballsy, when folks start to suspect that you're processing forms LIFO style to cheat on your metrics, you can leak a BS story to Guns America stating that you had some super secret awesome expedited program that you had to cancel because John Q Public whined about it too much, and for the first time in history, your alphabet soup club decided to listen.

They ought to be providing you with a big discount on some of their merchandise or give you some sort of compensation for their negligence.

They want their money up front but yet make you wait after the tax stamp arrives.

Most restaurants will not charge you for a meal if you have to wait a long time to be served. The dealer should do something to make it right with you.

I would have a few choice words for them when I picked it up, if it were me.

Yeah, especially after they called me last spring and said “we have your Thunderbeast suppressor in” and I had to ask the guy if he really wanted me to come pick it up and run a 4473 without the tax stamp....

To be partly fair to them this was a purchase through Silencer Shop and Shoot Point Blank is their closest “Powered by” dealer to me here in Carmel. But I would think they’ve done several of them and would know what to do.

I’ve used M&J Firearms in Fortville IN for previous SS purchases and can’t speak highly enough about Martin there. I’ll just continue to drive a little bit more in the future.

I'm not from Indiana but was visiting a friend last winter when I stopped in at Midwest Gun Exchange. The front of my shirt got wet from all the drooling.

They are a class III dealer and had some cans on display. Everyone was real nice, not pushy but willing to talk with an out-of-state guy like me who couldn't purchase some things in their store.

Some of the sales reps gave me some great information on making my cans work with some of my pistols. I bought several boxes of ammunition as they were nice enough to take time to walk with me.

Well clearly they didn’t drop their “streamlined” process for some of the Form 4 individuals as previously stated. There are still some coming back very quickly. Yet another indicator things are still beyond fu**ed up...

Jealous! :D But glad to see the Trusts getting some love!
I thought it was some sort of sick joke when they called me. Then to top it off I get there and they say " Oh! Looks like this one is actually your cousins!" I couldnt help but believe them for a few seconds.

So wait-I was under the impression that if I purchased from Silencer Shop, that they would let me know when my stamp was ready. Apparently that is not the case? I've got 2 in jail, one shows my check cashed 4/28/19, 4 person trust. From what people are saying, I should be getting this really soon

Your dealer should call you when they have the stamp in hand.

I never got contacted when I was approved. Never heard from SS again after my check was cashed.

Given how trusts are going... who knows. My buddy just has his approved on a 2 person trust and it took 11 months.

I was really hoping to have both of mine back before July. For now, it appears that the bill has died, but Virginia is doing some crazy stuff right now. All new laws take effect July 1. That would be 15 and 13 months on my 2 cans.

I just got my first Form 4 back, wait from cashed check to approval was 258 days. Paper form 4, individual, ME.

Just called today and my 2nd form 4 was approved today 299 days after submitted.
cashed on 4/10/2019
approved on 2/3/2020
stamp at dealer 2/8/2020 picked up same day
