Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

Sooooo, does Vudoo still do proof carbon barrels?? Max length??

He was asking for the base to the rifle. Not scope rings.
It wasn't a very clear question, from the way I read it...apparently others thought the same.
Post #6374 has the torque values

15-18 in lbs
Excellent find. I looked on VGW for the spec in the V22 manual and accessories for the different scope rails, it isn't listed in either location.

I read he had a new base and needed torque specs but maybe some read it different. He didn't mention rings.

Cleaned my Vudoo after about 500 rounds - surprised at how clean it was - mostly Lapua Midas+ with some Eley Tenex. Used some Lucas gun oil on the bolt and it seems to run smoother - but the bolt seems to require more effort to close with the Eley than the Lapua - comments here noted. Maybe it’s a break-in thing? I’m using the NRL .22 target pkg and put the biggest targets (5” and 6”) at 200 and 240 are tough - I’m about 50/50 - I’m assuming it’s mostly a function of wind calls.

And sometimes it’s the mag/stock/chassis connection as some will not be in the right position and cause issues. My Vudoo feeds Eley just like it feeds Center X and that’s not with any special mag or follower.
Mine does also lapua eley rws all good

Ive been shooting 5in and 6in steel at 200m. It sure is tough. I can get solid 4/5 hits with my CZ 452 Deluxe but the 5th is hard to get on. Happens every now and then but rare.

Without too much wind, the vertical spread on a good lot of Center-X with a Vudoo will be 3". So a 4" target should be hittable almost all the time if you're not factoring in gusting wind. We had a low wind day and a 4" spinner at the last rimfire match on Sunday and we were hitting that spinner 10 / 12 shots while also timing the spinning. Vudoo does pretty amazing things.

I agree. I think its the small gusts that you may not see that get people. I havent been putting wind flags up when I shoot 200m but I will do next time.

Anybody out there running a V22 with a 40 moa rail and a ZCO 5-27?
Wondering how much elevation is left below with a 50y zero.
TIA!

I have that with a 25 yard zero, no issues. I think I could use the 60 MOA rail but there is no reason to.

Interested in this as well as I am contemplating that very setup in the upcoming weeks. Using math and the Goog, 10 moa = 3 mil. Applying to the above data point, you could expect to have 32 mil of up from a 50y zero with a 40moa base. From ZCO, the 527 has 35 mil total elevation adjustment. This would mean you would have about 3 mil below a 50y zero which in theory also means a 50 moa base should be able to zero at 50y at the very extreme of the travel. Assuming the zero stop doesn't eat into that.

I have a 30 MOA rail with a ZCO 527. I have 29.1 mil of elevation to dial.
If you use Burris Tactical Signature rings, they have plastic inserts of various thicknesses allowing you to change scope angle and cant plus or minus 40 MOA. Then the picatinny rail angle doesn't matter.

Since your reply is to a zco owner, I don't think they come in 36mm

I have a zco 527 with a 60 moa rail. I can zero at 50 yards with 2 mils left over. I can dial out to roughly 525 yards without holding over.
You can probably dial up .4 mil from zero to get 25 yards. I have my Athlon Cronus Gen2 on a 40 MOA rail, and with zero at 50 that's what I dial.

ETA: I'm seriously considering getting a 60 MOA rail, since I still have 7.4 mil under my zero stop...set at 50.

Went to swap my 20 to 40 moa rail and looks like I either need to pull pins from my receiver, or I got the wrong rail for my Gen 1.0 LH action?
The 20 came off tight and the pins stayed in, but the new 40 came as pictured.
Anybody been here/done that or @RAVAGE88 know what I should do?

Pull them out from one or the other. They aren’t attached, just sometimes require a little force.

No more hdmr-cr? 😔

I suppose a Zco is a worthy replacement 😉
It's going back on when the v360 gets here, I just couldn't wait, didn't feel right having the zco sitting around unmounted!
I really came to like the HDMR-CR H-59, it's gonna stay on the v22, and, you know, it's a gear race to keep up with you 😆🥸

Round count is at 750 as of today. I must have a bad lot of SK Rifle Match...is this normal for SD and ES? Vudoo Three 60, 20" Ace MTU.

My 50 yard zero is still perfect with today's weather, and the Kestrel* 5700 Elite was SPOT ON for dialing 65 & 85 yards...sorcery I say.

*adjusted for known dope at 75 and 100 yards two weeks ago, today I just whipped it around to update environmentals before I started shooting and let it do the calculations.

ETA: 250 rounds today, I took the MagnetoSpeed off after 150, forgot to archive the first string, so no data for the second string.

Those are pretty decent numbers for 22 ammo, I’ve had worse lots of center x. If you really want to see how good those numbers are go chrono a box each of golden bullets, thunderbolts, and winchester white box. Expect ES of 160+fps and a SD of 50+ My better lots of center-x hover around 35-45ES and 10-14 SD. My best lot of center-x had an Es of 40 and a SD of 7.4 and that was competitive for me doing benchrest @ 50 yards. I did not win or place very often.

When I shot rimfire ARA benchrest I chrono’d every shot at most matches for years. The $$$ tier spent on ammo is a pretty good indicator of ammo quality. The exception for me was I never had good luck with any lot of eley tenex. I tested lapua midas+, Exact, and center-x, sk rifle match, flat nose match, standard+, eley black box, tenex, edge, contact, and RWS 50 and 100. I settled on center-x as the best value per shot. If I had unlimited $ then RWS 100 or lapua Exact would be every shot in summer, lapua biathlon in the winter. Rifles used for competition were a 16.5” CZ455, 18” V22 repeater and normally, a tuned 23” HB anschutz 54

I've got exceptional lots of SK RM & Lapua Center-X that I've chrono'd several times. On one occasion, the SK RM will have an ES of 23, and the next time I checked it in the same rifle, it could be as high as 43fps. It still shoots very well in my oldest Gen 1 V-22/Krieger with a Pro-X tuner adjusted for this lot. The Center-X also varies somewhat, but it's generally more stable than the SK RM, and is the best of the ammo I have on hand in my V-22S/Shilen. I'm planning to send this V-22S off to the Lapua test center in Mesa sometime this fall or early winter - if they've got a decent number of Center-X lots to test.

It was a long 5 months of waiting. 22” MTU, gen 2, 40 MOA base, athlon Cronus, trigger tech diamond two stage. In an MPA Hybrid chassis. Will probably pull the rear weight so that I have a shot of close to balance with a loaded magazine in. May get out to shoot tomorrow (I hope), if the rain lets up any.

If your chassis didn't come with the MPA quick detach magnet cheek riser, order that "upgrade" now. I thought my MPA BA Comp came that way, it didn't, so as soon as I took the cheek riser off, the ball bearing and spring dropped on the floor...glad I wasn't at the range.

Edit: your chassis, doesn't have the wheel for adjusting the cheek riser, so that doesn't matter for yours.

Hate to let the cat out of the bag, but the SK rifle match I have wasn't as good as CCI-SV out of my 10/22T either. I thought it might have been the 10/22T, but it's the ammo. I was going to put some CCI-SV through the Vudoo today, just to see how it would do, but I lost interest. Hehe.

I understand our Vudoo rifles are designed for Center X, I just don't buy into that. Center X is good ammo, but there are other options, that cost less and perform better.

before anyone chimes up with, "use the ammo your rifle likes"...there's good ammo (and lots) and there's crap ammo. Good ammo, no matter the "lot" is better than other ammo...no matter the "lot". Prove me wrong.

With the BS "ammo shortage", I know I won't be buying any more SK Rifle Match. I have other greasy SK ammo that is better. I'd love to try some Center X or Midas +, but it's not available, and/or stupid expensive.
