Silencer Shop News Update: ATF eForms Launch Imminent!

Pain in the dick. I've tried a few variations to try to get it to take. No luck.
I have an email in to them that was sent late Xmas eve so not expecting anything back until tomorrow or Tuesday.
Mine was ridiculously long when it finally worked.

I'm at like 17 characters with multiples of all required elements on the password and still no joy. I work for the government, don't know why I'm surprised.

The moral of the story is the tortoise and the hare. Paper forms vs E Forms

I’ve been able to log in and start a form 4 but can’t pick a FFL so yeah there’s that…

The Government needs "build back better" to pass in order secure funding for server upgrades and more ATF agents to process your applications.

I can’t login to find out for myself but I’m still looking for an answer on if I, a non-FFL who bought a suppressor, can file a form 4 for the suppressor I bought just like I can file a form 1, or if my dealer has to file the e form. I know HB tried to answer my question earlier but I’m not real smart so I need it explained to me like I’m 5.

You can NOT file a form 4 if you are not a FFL. You will need your dealer to file it for you.

It also appears that the customer / purchaser has to have an eForms account to complete the application electronically. At the end of the Form 4, it has the FFL digitally sign and enter their PIN - and then the customer has to digitally sign the form and enter THEIR PIN.

Expecting some to get kicked back - as the eForm did not allow us to enter the reason for purchasing the NFA item ( i.e., all legal and sporting purposes ). It did allow the form to progress to the end and be submitted, so....................we'll see.

Ummm yeah you can/do…that’s the point of a form 4 for individual to complete and submit 🤦🏻‍♂️
Tell me you don’t understand NFA items without telling me you don’t understand NFA items.

The ATF Form 4 is used to transfer an NFA Firearm to a non-FFL (individual or trust).

Atf's "Form 4" is an “Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of a Firearm”. It is used whenever you are buying an NFA Firearm that already exists (not making one). According to the ATF, it’s “typically submitted for a transfer to an individual or legal entity, such as a trust.”

Is this the correct web site https:eforms.atf.gov ? I have been trying for two days to set up an account. All I get is eForm Outage.

There is no need to enter a reason for purchasing silencers, never has been.

Yeah, eforms has been down since yesterday morning and when it was up, it's highly unstable. I'd say submit paper now since Silencer Shop is holding hundreds, if not thousands, of forms waiting for eforms.

^^^Exactly!

Called the Eform Help Desk today at high noon, waited online for 10 min, helpful lady provided temporary password to login, since the one
provided with email link did not work...all's good.

All y'all filing your own form 4s need to f'n stop- at least until the eform 4 that I have with Silencershop gets out of their purgatory...

Has anyone successfully added a FFL? I submitted the request but it has been pending for 24 hours. Does the FFL have to go in and approve the request?

Figured it out ... here are the steps:
  1. Select "Forgot Password" from the initial login screen
  2. Provide UserID and Email
  3. Get the Email-provided temp Password
This is the step I cannot get past. Once I enter in my old user name and email address (both confirmed) it will eventually return to the login screen with the message below in the upper right corner. I never did get a reset password so I'll be calling the ATF (or starting over).

I haven’t been able to add a FFL either

Ya so I had a check cashed 11-12 21 on a Sept 5th order. The delay was my fault I had multiple emails that went to spam from SS compliance.
So that along with not having efile sucks for me LOL
July or Aug of next year based on my last two. I may just buy another in the next few days via eform just to see.

This is exactly what I got about a dozen times this afternoon. I’ve got a form1 that’s already running longer than any previous ones I’ve done and I’d like to check on it. I’ll try to reset password again tomorrow and then give them a call. Very annoying. Also waiting on two paper form4’s, one is 3/11 and the other is only a couple months old. I have very little faith in this new system.

So another repeat of the initial site?

I'd guess a bean counter somewhere doesn't want to pay for a decent server and bandwidth. They have severely underestimated how many were lined up to try and get them in first.

Good news.

Got a couple emails from atf early this morning. One said they were having internal issues. Duh. The other said they my shit should be all unlocked and good to register.

After a few slow ass we site problems everything worked and I was finally able to register.

Anyone else waiting/trying moght be able to get through now and if not, dont hesitate to email them. Theyve been pretty quick on responses for me.

I bought a can today from my local dealer and submitted my personal info, including fingerprints and picture using their Silencer Shop kiosk. Dealer said to be on the lookout for an email from Silencer Shop within a few days that I will need to sign electronically.

What I forgot to ask and am unclear on is whether I still need to create an online account with ATF in order to have my application e-filed? Anyone know?

I’ve been waiting on them to e-file my 12/10 application. I called SS today was was told to make an Efile account since the atf will be emailing me something. You will be receiving a docusign email from SS once they review your application then it will be pushed to the ATF. I think everyone is still figuring out the system including the ATF. It’s going to take awhile until the bugs are worked out.

I was able to create new account today. I did have to use a different email address than my original eform site though.

Just an FYI:

Dear eForms Users,

At this time, we find it necessary to make everyone aware of some problems many of you are experiencing with ATF’s shift of all licensing applications to cloud services to include the eForms application. We are working on all reported issues around the clock to ensure they are fixed as quickly as possible. The failing infrastructure of the original legacy eForms system required us to move to this new environment as expeditiously as possible. We are sorry that you have been experiencing problems as a result. There will be continuous fine tuning to ensure all applications are working in sync.

Unfortunately, anomalies still exist with registration, login, and other areas in the application, and we are triaging those issues in real time. The development team is actively working to improve your ability to access your accounts and to perform all functions in eForms quickly and reliably. Despite internal and industry testing these anomalies have still surfaced after launch. You should be seeing significant improvements in the coming hours and days. Once basic performance is stabilized beyond an acceptable level, we have several planned tasks to add and improve features over the coming months.

We apologize for any current problems that you are experiencing and are taking them very seriously. This new eForms is built to evolve rapidly and continuously. ATF has the support team in place to keep pushing improvements until eForms smoothly delivers the services needed by all users.

Yes, you still need to create an eform account with the ATF. Silencer shop files it for you, but you still need to verify everything with your local dealer. That is done online, somehow, with your account info and pin.

Silencer shop has been clear that everyone will still need an ATF account. The rest of the process is what I've gathered from a couple of my jailed cans and other internet sources.

I'm currently waiting on my local dealer to get ahold of me for the verification stuff. If you check your silencer shop profile, the statuses have changed a bit to reflect how the new process should work.

I had to call the help desk. After days of the password reset error, they issued me a temporary password and I was able to finally login and assign my four digit PIN and change my password to a new one. Still waiting on a longer-than-normal form1 approval, and two form4 apps that will most likely take forever.

No. Silencer Shop will submit it via e-file for you.
No. Your local dealer will submit the eform 4. Silencer Shop will provide your information to the local dealer. Below is a high-level overview.
  • Buyer creates eforms account
  • Purchase silencer from Silencer Shop
  • Silencer Shop ships your silencer to your selected dealer
  • Dealer logs into eforms with their dealer account and generates the form 4 with your info provided by Silencer Shop
  • Dealer certifies the form 4 with their pin and you certify the form 4 with your user/pin at the dealer on their eforms account
  • You will get an email from ATF to mail the CLEO notification (attached to the email)

Well I went ahead and created my online account with ATF. Went through the first time with no issues, must have gotten lucky I guess.

Based on what @HansohnBrothers said above, looks like I'll have to go back to my dealer with my login info and pin at some point. Not sure I really understand the purpose of that, but whatever.

Fuck this crap...I worked for a very long time as a Program Manager for telecom software companies and they could have cut out all of this ^^ BS and just merely say "we failed to adequately test prior to going live because we are the fucking government and we are always incredibly incompetent"

Just my view.

Same here, no issues.

I'm a bit confused as to why I have to make an online account. Seems pretty convoluted way of doing it.

@SilencerShop

I'm guessing the "ready to certify" step is the point that I need to verify info and submit with my pin number. Can that be done online or do I need to go to my dealer? Should I expect a call from the dealer or should I watch the status on my silencershop dashboard and get ahold of the dealer when I need to certify?

Your dealer will contact you, this step can only be completed in their eforms account.

No. Your local dealer will submit the eform 4. Silencer Shop will provide your information to the local dealer. Below is a high-level overview.

So the “Powered by” silencer shop doesn’t work anymore? Previously SS did all this and I didn’t have to go to my dealer until the stamp arrived.

What is the pin number you are referencing? I have a suppressor that is showing ready to certify. Do I need to call my dealer?
