Rifle Scopes Scope adjustment for a 20 MOA base

Re: Scope adjustment for a 20 MOA base You answered my question, thanks for the math and explanation. I was thinking the same thing but I wasn't sure if there was something else I needed to factor in.

Rifle Scopes Scope adjustment for a 20 MOA base

I currently own a Leupold scope that has 71 MOA of vertical adjustment (advertised). Is this enough adjustment for a 20 MOA base if I zero at 100 yards? My rifle is a 308 with a MV of 2500 fps using Federal 168g Gold medal match ammunition.

Muzzle velocity Remington 700 SPS Tactical

Re: Muzzle velocity Remington 700 SPS Tactical Thanks for the replies and the link. If I have read the Chuck Hawks article correctly, there should be about a 20 fps drop for every inch below 24 inches when using the 308 cartridge. This would account for about 80 fps, what about the other 95...

Muzzle velocity Remington 700 SPS Tactical

I recently used a chronograph to check the muzzle velocity for my SPS Tactical 308 using Federal Match King 168g ammunition. The average velocity at about 10 feet from the muzzle was 2475 fps. This ammunition is rated at 2650 fps and I was wondering if this difference is primarily due to the 20...

    Woman's Gun

Re: Woman's Gun My wife has a lightweight Savage model 10 Sierra 243. It is just over 6 lbs. without the scope and has a light recoil. I mounted a Nikon Pro Staff 4X12X40 on it and have seen her commonly shoot 1 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards. She seems to be really happy with it. As far as...

Rifle Scopes Budget Build Tactical Rings, Mounts?

Re: Budget Build Tactical Rings, Mounts? I mounted Burris XT rings ($50) and a Burris XT 2 piece base ($18)on my 243. I like the 2 piece base for better access.

    timney trigger !?

Re: timney trigger !? I have the X-Mark Pro and noticed an increase in pull after about 200 rounds. I oiled the trigger as illustrated in the Remington owners manual and noticed a definite improvement. I also noticed a fair amount of dirt when I blew it out with compressed air. How that...

Muzzle Velocity, SPS Tactical and FGMM 168?

Re: Muzzle Velocity, SPS Tactical and FGMM 168? Boone: Do you have any chronograph data on Federal 168g sierra match king (or other similar Federal ammo). I have a sps tactical and wondered what the differences are between the velocities published by Federal ammo. Their test barrel length is...

my remington 700 sps tactical aac-sd and mini 14

Re: my remington 700 sps tactical aac-sd and mini 14 Thanks for the reply. I had similar accuracy issues at first. I did the "dollar bill test" and didn't notice any contact between the barrel and the stock. I switched to FMK 168g and my groups immediately went to under 1" at 100 yards. I...

my remington 700 sps tactical aac-sd and mini 14

Re: my remington 700 sps tactical aac-sd and mini 14 A great looking set up. I have the sps tactical and am wondering what base (rail)you have on your 700? Also, did you notice any differences in accuracy when you switched to the B&C stock?

Rifle Scopes Counter Sniper scopes Review/Test

Re: Counter Sniper scopes Review/Test Guys; this is the funniest thread I have ever read. My sides ache from laughing so hard. Hilarious stuff. I do have to respond to the Zeagle remark however. I own a Zeagle BC, similar to the Ranger, and it is a high quality product, made in the U.S.A.

    iPhone Protection for the Field

Re: iPhone Protection for the Field I have used the otterbox on my iphone 4 for about a year and have been vey satisfied. It is dust and dirt resistant and is somewhat water resistant, but definitely not waterproof. During hunting or other times when I think it might get wet I put it in a...

Hunting & Fishing What optic do you use on your hunting rifles?

Re: What optic do you use on your hunting rifles? Leupold VXIII 4.5X14X40, with cds. I admit the mil dot is more versatile, but for $20 dollars extra over the standard VXIII it is simple and worth trying out. You can always holdover the target if time is a factor.

Hunting & Fishing Rubber boots for deer archery?

Re: Rubber boots for deer archery? Scent control is an obsession with nearly all experienced bowhunters. I agree with 2 shots, the younger deer are less wary of scent, but older deer seem to very wary of human scent. Always use non-scented detergent and try to be "invisible". Personally, I...
