Looking for general hunting gun for Florida hogs and deer.

Thanks for that detailed response. Looks like a rock-solid installation. I like your use of the shrink tubing too, great thinking!

Looking for general hunting gun for Florida hogs and deer.

What bolt release is that I see? It doesn't look like the BAD Lever. How do you like it? Was it hard to install and did you have any issues after installing it?

Looking for general hunting gun for Florida hogs and deer.

I'm going to second this suggestion. You get a rifle that will shoot .277" bullets into sub MOA groups fairly easily, and was designed for the ranges that you have included. Mine is not all that light, but it wasn't built to be. The case is bigger than the .223 case, but not as big as the 6.5...

    Maggie’s 1986 Miami

A similar situation to what was reported in the Newhall shooting is reported to have occured in the murder of NJ State Trooper Philip Lamonaco. And I believe that is also what precipitated the change from revolvers to the HK P7 back then too.

Maggie’s For you Apollo 11 geeks... it's like Christmas!

Born in 1959, and I remember watching with my family and my mom's sister and her family. They kept telling us how monumental this would be and that we'd remember it forever. So far, so good. I also remember that Citgo gas stations (I think it was Citgo, a neighbor owned one) gave out these...

    Maggie’s 1986 Miami

Massad Ayoob did an extensive write-up about it in American Handgunner. I know there are people that aren't fans of his, but I really enjoyed his column, The Ayoob Files. That article was a standout on a few levels, especially his way of examining how training and current doctrine influenced...

Maggie’s Any trip advice for Fl Keys?

This is a trip that we've been planning to take eventually as well. I'm adding a reply so that all this info is something I can find when we do finally make the plans. Thanks Guys!

    Maggie’s SH Motorcycle Thread

This was a ride in the springtime a couple years ago. Those fat tires actually don't do too bad on the snow. Hard to tell from the pic, but the ride down that little evergreen lane through the trees was slightly downhill, and getting back out to the gravel road at the end was a lot harder than...

    Maggie’s SH Motorcycle Thread

Took a ride last night along some of the seasonal roads and along some railroad tracks last night. I like trying to get lost, then figuring out where I am without going back along the route that got me there. I have a lot of fun exploring on this little bike.

    What Sunglasses are you wearing?

Good Topic! I have worn Oakley Frogskins for years. Not the "classic" frogskins, but an older style that they don't make anymore. (http://www.o-review.com/database_detail_model.php?ID=70) I like that they fit a larger head, and have that wrap-around bug eye shape. Best part for me is that even...

    Maggie’s Why wait til bedtime?

This will be funny at some point in the future. Actually, I'm kinda finding it funny right now. Once had my son at a playground, he was about 4 or 5 at the time. He climbed the ladder for the slide, stopped at the top and had this weird look on his face, then he puked all down the slide. Next...

    Anyone want to educate themselves?

Lots of studies use 21 as the age line, and I have seen some use 25 (might be what you also referred to). If you use either 21 or 25, then how many people in our military would then be considered part of their defined group of "children"???

    Post your funniest range story...

A very long time ago, maybe very early 1970s, when I was about 12 years old, my dad granted me the use of his Red Ryder. He got it when he was around 10 from his aunt, and I still have it today. We lived in a suburban North NJ town that had a very large cemetery right up the block from me, and...

    Movie Theater Frontier on Netflix

Yes.....this! I have been very well dressed for some hunting trips and after a few hours I get so cold that my fingers don't work well anymore. Usually evident by my not being able to zip my zipper on my pants back up, so I just leave it. And that is after a few hours in temps that are still...

    Maggie’s amusing pic

I bought a S&W Sigma in .40 when they first came out for that exact reason. That is the one that Smith lost the lawsuit for, and yes, most parts are interchangeable. Honestly don't shoot it much though, but that may be changing in the near future.
