I am thinking of going with a Q/D mount for my first build on the 40 X platform, with pic rail. My scope will be a Nightforce 8-32 x 56, so the whole setup will be half decent...certainly not an Accuracy International with S&B glass but decent enough to warrant the best Q/D mount money can buy...
I was as the range this evening. I'm sending 75 grain 5.56 mm TAP's downrange and the guy next to me, maybe he was 25, was shooting a new high end bolt gun. It looked like a custom smith job. He showed me the proof target, it shot 0.2" group at 100 yards, I was like wow you got a winner...
...throughout its zoom range. I would love to own this scope, but one thing that scares me is from past experience, I know that the golly-gee-whiz zoom range scopes...that meaning the ones that you can see the American flag on the moon with and read the NASA serial number...are often time...
OK so I know "best" is subjective, but what is the general consensus here on the 'Hide regarding $2,500 'bolts? Currently I am looking at a Remington custom 40 X, but want to think outside my own little box and explore all possibilities. Thanks!
I have been looking for a bolt action range rifle that will shoot 1/2 MOA or less (100 yard shooting mainly, but will reach out to 500 occasionally). I had my eye on the Remington 700 Police, however while at the local dealer today, I was talked into putting a Custom Shop 40X TDR in .308. Is...
My local dealer has a Remington 700 Police that I have my eye on big time. Seems like an awesome platform to start with. What would be a good scope to match the quality of this rifle? I know that NightForce, S&B, and USO are all good scopes, but does one particular model shine above the...
I'm interested in learning all about the snipers of the Revolutionary and Civil war, and the weapons they used. What would be a good source of this info? I've googled it but haven't had much luck. If anybody enjoys talking about this topic, let's have at it!
I looked through a Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T scope today. Simply awesome scope. Built like a tank, crystal clear, superbly sharp reticle, all around good design. I left the gun shop wanting to take the Eotech and 4x magnifier off my AR-15 and replace it with...
Anybody have a Cooper Montana Varminter? For $1400, this looks like a really good deal. Personally I've never held a Cooper in my hands, was hoping to get some real world feedback. Sorry for all the questions, at some point I hope to actually provide input instead of taking output!
Other than a threaded muzzle, what is the real difference here? Looks like they use the same stock, same pic rail, maybe a slightly different barrel...would I be paying for just Tacticoolness or is it a real upgrade? Also, who has these things in stock? Thanks!!!
Actually all I really want to do is replace the somewhat minimalist stock with something more beefy with an adjustable comb. What are my options here? While on the topic of the Quad, what accuracy have you guys been seeing with this rifle in terms of MOA?
I'm looking into buying a new- off-the-shelf 1/2 MOA bolt gun in .223 or 22-250 for target and varmint shooting. I would go .308 however I only have a 100 yard range around here and .223 is much cheaper. I understand that the Remington 700 action is probably the most recpected and coveted...
First off, I'd like to say hi to all. I've been doing a lot of post reading on this forum lately and figured it was time to write one or two. I'm looking for a good mid-range spotting scope. I don't want something super cheap (<$300) that will likely have shortcomings throughout now something...
