Left Hand Remington Varnment Barrel Twist

I'm left handed. I have a LH Remington LTR in .308 (which I love) and I see that Remington offers the LTR in .223 for right handed folks. However, they do offer .223 in their left hand varmint rifle but in a 1n9 twist and a six inch longer barrel. What kind of accuracy can I expect shooting 77...

Sold gun, guy commits crime, then what.??

If he moved to Kalifornia he had X-number of days to register any hand guns. If he did not and gets arrested for something, and they discover he has an unregistered handgun, he could be convicted of a crime involving a firearm and would be bared from owning or possessing a firearm for eleven years.

Former LEO gone crazy in SoCal

I used to do backgrounds for my agency and had many occasions to go through LAPD background files and interact with their background investigators. For a long time, and possibly still, the Feds forced a consent decree on the LAPD. They could not start another academy class unless it contained a...

    Price Gouging

Won't matter here in Kalifornia, after the Democrats pass their new gun control laws. We probably will not be able to reload anyway. You will only be allowed to have 500 rounds of ammo and each round will be taxed. They are about to destroy the gun industry in this state. We will be lucky if we...

Rifle Scopes I need to narrow down my list and find the best scope for "me"

I went through this same situation two years ago. I'm old and my eye sight has degraded to the point that iron sights do not work well anymore, so I quit across the course shooting with my Garand and Colt Sporter. Now I shoot steel targets from 200 to 500 meters. I got caught up in the "best...

Electronic hearing protection is damaging your hearing (range report)

I wear ear plugs made by Kasier Hospital and use shotgun ear muffs for protection. It is difficult for me to hear someone talking but I can hear gunfire down the line and I flench and jerk the trigger. Sever shooters suggested the electronic ear muffs but after reading the above comments I'm not...

Fieldcraft Naked into the Wilderness 2: The Debris Hut

Very good article. In basic training in 1958 we learned to dig a small ditch at the rear of our pup tent so the colder air would sink to that spot. We also had smuggled in a candle and your are dead on. Made a big difference in the temps. JesseB

Fieldcraft Naked into the Wilderness 1: Priorities

You do not have to be in the wilderness to run out of water. Just brake down on the road at night between Salt Lake City and Reno. Just hope someone in this day will stop and help. JesseB

Fieldcraft How Many actual SHTF scenarrios in your lifetime?

I worked for the Department of Corrections during the Watts riots. I was also in National Guard. We were called out and for a week areas of that part of LA reminded me of how Stuttguart looked like when I arrived for duty in Germany in 1959. A number of folks have spoken about how dogs and cats...
