    Vintage firearm prices

I got the mummy wrapped Enfields for $129 each around 1990. Just shot a new and I mean new 1946 mfg, Mosin M44. Pinging steel at 500 was childs play with it. $120 around 1995. Had forgotten I had it until I was showing a friend my souvenirs recently.

What's your favorite WW2 and older bolt rifle and why?

The 1903A3 is tough to beat. The aperture sight you mentioned, and usually great accuracy. Lots of parts available including Criterion barrels from CMP. You said you would load for it. Try one of the many recipes with the 125 Sierra. Low recoil there. American quality and pride. Remington made...

F T/R Competition Build my F-T/R rifle & Loading System

Unless you are going to put in the time to get to the top of f/tr, keep your reloading simple so you won't grow to hate it and thus hate getting ready for a match. The equipment you have is quite adequate. Get one good load, stick to it, learn to shoot it. You mentioned the 185 Bergers. Get a...

    What to look for

M48 had milled trigger guard and floor plate. M48A was stamped. The crest on the receiver ring is commonly known as the "Tito" crest. Cal was 8mm and the M48's are a little shorter than M98's in action length. All IIRC.

    100 Years ago today

In reference to some of McBride's exploits, "Precision Shooting" magazine had an article some time ago where an American writer found some terrain as described by McBride in his book and located one of his "hides" in a surviving building. Even found some corroded .303 in clips under a layer of dirt.

If you were going to build a .300BLK bolt action how would you?

I traded into the AAC M7. Neat little rifle, 1/7 twist. Hammers the Rem 220's. Perfect little bolt for the caliber. Wish they had this rifle in .223, would be a great walking varminter.

    F T/R Competition New F-Class Division

I agree with Wade. No one is prohibited from bringing their tactical .308/.223 to an FTR match, sans brake. Participation is encouraged. Just realize your rifle's limitations within the rules and don't get butt hurt if you don't win...then go looking for an excuse. Some guys have 30" barrels!! I...
