    It's the same all over. We've got exactly the same issues here in Europe. One explanation that I've heard is that a lot of people have gone into the 'covid industry' and are working as testers etc. Better money than a lot of entry level/shop floor work.

    I'd go for the M1 Carbine, mind you I've got one myself, so I might be biased. Another option may be the Ruger PC carbine? They seem to get good reviews, and can be taken down, so should fit in your suitcase no problem.
