While I feel that 1200m is well outside the realm of a 223 AR, building a very accurate 600-800m gun can be accomplished around $1k (w/o optics). Look around your area for hi power service rifle matches, you will learn a ton about marksmanship with a semi auto. Going beyond that distance on...
Glock 19; it's simple, light, bombproof, easy to shoot, consistent trigger press for every round fired, and the polymer won't feel 100 degrees or -10 when you establish your grip depending on external factors like a steel or alloy framed gun. If I'm in combat I'm already humping a ton of other...
As far as helmet mounted I have only used the Surefire helmet light, which left much to be desired (battery life/drain was the biggest issue). Around brush I use the IR on the PVS14 to detect eye shine, out in the open I have a scout light with vampire head mounted to the rifle.
Spotlighted her with the IR surefire helmet light, we were standing 40 yards apart and she stood still like a good girl so I could get a good shot. Pretty surprised to see its nearly as big as a adult German Shepherd...calibrated arm says 60-65 lbs...
What's the point of the carbon helmet if it is heavier than the base helmet and not ballistic rated? The thing I like about the base other than the weight savings is the molded nvg mount.
Theyre the Vortex branded Seekins rings from Brownells. It seems 35mm is only used for the long range optics which would be overkill for my application, Ill send them back for an exchange Monday. Looks like the 30mm med and low height are in stock, for $20 less as well.
Im still deciding on an optic for my 16" Rem 700 .308, planning to run subs primarily but would like to be able to use regular ammo out to 800m max. I fucked up and bought the wrong seekins rings, med height 35mm. Before I send them back, are there any optics with a 35mm tube that I should...
If youre lucky enough to take one to a SAPI plate then I suppose you have a chance, however my ass will be as flat to the ground behind whatever I have for cover and looking around for the shooter will take second place to my primary thought of catching the next round in the face.
Close distance and kill the enemy, same as anyone else trying to take you out. If you cant find him, its probably because he already shot you and then it wont matter.
