Finally got the stockade stock painted and the texture on. $250 stockade stock with some costs for finishing. Savage 11 trophy hunter xp. .260 Remington. That is a laser on the side. An experiment in red lasers for illumination for coyotes.
Savage 11/111 Trophy Hunter XP $525 w/ Nikon Prostaff 3-9 Scope (lifetime warranty) -Nikon Scope ~$125 Drops down to $400 with accutrigger. Try and find a varmint spring for the accutrigger to swap out. If you're really getting into it and handload, then I would suggest a 6mm or 6.5mm round...
Well, I consider myself very lucky, and that 3 college buddies and my brother pitched in to grab me a Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP as a wedding gift. I couldn't believe it when I got it. They got me a 204 Ruger. I also have a 260 Rem in the same gun. Different scope on that one, and I have a...
I'm actually starting a project using a laser as a light source. I chose red light because it is proven more effective for coyotes. Any light can work, green, red, white, but for a coyote red shows up as a gray and usually gives a few seconds longer for a shot. Green is the best to see at night...
I ordered a ~250mW laser in 660nm red spectrum with a cheap 18650 battery for $47 shipped from Israel from a reputable guy with a small website. I have to wait until tomorrow for dimensions on the laser to get the diameter. I will be mounting on the side. I will probably just epoxy in a well nut...
Yeah I don't know why I didn't think about mounting on the side. That's what I'll do and I'll just shim where necessary. I just thought it might need more adjustment than a mount could handle. I should be fine. I'm looking at 200mW rated which is usually closer to 300 actual. Should this be...
I have an interesting build going on here. I'm waiting on a stockade stock for my 260 Rem that will be used for nuisance hunting or varmint hunting. I'm working on a laser for SPOTTING. That is correct. Looking to get a laser set up to see animals down range. An adjustable focus laser that is...
That is awesome. Turned out great. Couple questions, how much are you up to total? Another, I have a propane smoker that I'm looking to use all winter long up in northern NY. Where the hell can I get board insulation for high temperatures at a reasonable price? How much did you pay for it and...
When I was 16 I had my grandma sew me up a shooting mat. I grabbed 1000d cordura and she had the perfect sized foam mat that she sewed around it. I'm 21 now and I can't find that stupid thing anywhere. I stopped shooting until recently and I can't find it. I used to use it for 25yd reduced size...
Bad press. Getting into reloading and shooting, Lee has served me VERY well. I bought a Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP, (lower quality savage 11, even has a little different bolt). I have a Lee anniversary kit and nothing else. I was running up loads with IMR4831 and A-maxes and I was pegging just...
Without reading through this entire thread, I am assuming SS is the way to go, and to plunge in and never look back? I never heard about the alcohol either, but that seems to be an intuitive way to dry brass.
Stockade stocks go for around 235 for money saver option. It's basically out of mold. You fill the pin holes, sand and paint yourself. The build is that of a McMillan. Very similar process. Not quite as good but damn close for the money. 5 month wait though. I have an elk stalker on the way...
