Moving from TX to CA for job - considering selling firearms due to laws there...

Born and raised here in So Cal. Yes, a lot of problems, lots and Lots! I personally love Kentucky and Tennesse but home is here and family is here, and work is here. I travel to the midwest twice a year and love it there. Firearms are a little hassle, but nothing you cant adapt to. I would never...

    IMR powder

"What do you mean by 'good' results? As opposed to 'bad' results?!" Well, Good accuracy and good groups. It seems consistent, and has never caused a problem. I can not say it is the "most" accurate or consistent, but works well for me.

    7 Rem Mag - 7 WSM - 7-08

I am reloading 140 gr. Nosler ballistic tips for my 7mm rem mag. Using IMR 4064 and have laddered it from 49 to 54 gr. I am using the data from the Nosler site, but I noticed I dont see shooters using the IMR 4064 powder here? Why not? I shoot paper at 100 yards, and will move up to a heavier...

    New reloader with question.

Update: Looks like I got it figured out with the help of reloaders here. My dies were too low in the press, thus causing pressure on the top of the brass. Loaded a half dozen this morning after spending some time re setting up the dies. They look great, so I will try them out at the range next...

    New reloader with question.

"Place your sized case on shell holder and slowly raise ram all the way up and screw your seating die down until contact with case is felt and back off 1/4 to 1/2 turn to ensure your not crimping your case. " Back off 1/4 to 1/2 turn? I thought you screwed it in a 1/8 to a 1/4 to take up slack?

    New reloader with question.

"it sounds like you have what you'd see from using too much resizing lubricant. It hydrolocks in the die and dimples the shoulders." Interesting, I did not think of this.

    New reloader with question.

I do see it happening after the full length sizing, then it gets worse when I seat the bullet.

    New reloader with question.

Okay, I have been moving toward reloading for a while now. Bought powder, bullets, brass, and primers. Then, got the dies. Wife picked up a reloading setup for me for christmas from a friend. Used, but in good condition. RCBS single stage for my 7mm Remington Mag. I dont have everything I need...

Will any 40 mm scope fit on my rifle that has a 40mm scope mounted now?

I have a remington 700 with a nice 3 -9 x40 hunting scope. I would like to replace it with something with a little more power. I have found a few scopes that were something like 9 - 15 x 40 and was wondering if it would fit my mount? Of course, my mount is 1 inch tube so I need a 1" tube, but...

    Lasik

I had it done about a year ago. It is a miracle! I love it. My vision was horrible and I wore contacts since I was 25, I am now 55. My glasses were the classic "Coke bottle" looking super thick lenses. When I hit around 54 the contacts started to irritate my eyes. Doc said that I was getting...

Keep the "Old Dog", Modify, or...?

That rifle is perfect. If you really want a change, try some really good optics on it. Spend your money on glass.

    Mosin Scout.......sort of

I used that mount on one of my Mosins, and it works great. Why? why not? I collect Mosins so have plenty and this did not change the rifle permanently. I continue to use the wood stock, but did some trigger work on it. Works well and I have shot it out to 200 yards. Is it as good as my Remington...

Need Help - getting into long range shooting

I am also a newbie to precision / long range shooting. I am a older guy with a collection of antique C & R stuff and started shooting my old rifles 200 yards. After a while I decided I needed something to shoot that was not made in the 1920's so I bought a remington 700 in 7 mm Remington Magnum...
