Seconded. Heck, I'd probably take a barreled action for close to that price. Although, I wonder if Remington can still build them.
Imho, it's a long shot Remington could still manufacture the M24. The main reason is they shuttered the Ilion, NY factory a few months ago. All the employees were let go who worked there. This is the location they built the M24, and those workers were the reason this rifle was a superior build. The 2 main components of the rifle are the barrel, and the trigger group. Rem had a dozen hammer forges there that made the 5R barrels. No info if those forges were sold off in the auction, or moved to their new factory. Also, they had a very expensive trigger testing machine there that gauged the M24 trigger groups to Army specs. No idea if that is still around either. Other parts like recievers, stocks, bottom metal, scope bases, etc are still available. Prices for the original EuroOptics Limited Edition ASA Commemorative M24's are starting to climb well over the original price. And same for their earlier Collector Edition rifles built using Army take-off parts.
Any future availability will likely be from the CMP Auction website. They have been auctioning off USMC DARPA XM3 & Navy Mk-13 Mod 3 Sniper rifles, as well as USMC Unertl 10X Sniper scopes. Although I dont recall any M24 variants on their site, I could have missed some? Prices are strong!

Found a detail I hadn't noticed before. The lockring has 2 different mating profiles on each side. One perfectly flat, the other is beveled. Not sure which side is supposed to contact the front sight base

I’m putting the funding together (taxes) to do an M24a2 inspired build and since I’m not flush with cash, I’m doing it on a budget and I'd like some opinions please…
First…. I’m planning on Altus Shooting do the work and assemble the rifle. Aden and I talked a good bit the other afternoon, and he guarantees 3/8 moa with his actions and rifles. Is that a true statement? Second…. What’s the general opinion on the PRI rail equivalent to the Badger Mars rail? I know they’re aesthetic differences, but is the quality there? Third… How long does it usually take Allen Engineering to crank out a batch of M24 suppressors or are there alternatives that are available?

Need to see the inside of the case. The one I got from Remington has a black, shiny nylon lining. It was slightly different than commercial ones I have. The Uncle Mikes sling swivels have a Remington logo on them as well.
Off topic question. Does anyone know if Remington Illion NY plant tours/museum visits are still happening? I live about 3 hours away and thinking about going before they close. I can call, but figured ask here in case any employees are following the thread.
Just bought an M24a2 from Robert Snyder (I’m not patient enough to wait and look for parts) and until my gun budget account recovers some and I can afford the correct scope, I’m pulling my newer MK4 off of my .300wm to use on it. The scope being a 52mm objective, what height rings do I need with the MARS rail?

Found a m24 trigger with the paperwork. Cool to see the exact specs.
Looking for a m24 bolt if anyone has a lead.
Picked up an interesting barreled M24 action and I’m trying to figure out what it is. G prefix serial, rechambered in 300 WM. Bolt matches receiver and the bolt face is opened up. 20” barrel has been turned down to 0.775” about 2.71” from the muzzle.
I know the XM2010’s were built off of M24 actions, and some M24’s used Ops Inc. and AAC suppressors, but the barrel appears to be profiled for a Surefire FA762-SS suppressor mount.
I don't think it’s aftermarket since the barrel has Remington proof marks and the paint on the turned down section of the barrel matches the rest of it.
Any clue what this is? I plan on doing a FOIA request to see where its been.

My understanding is the OG scopes are fixed 10x. I'm thinking about the Leupold Mk4 3.5-10x40 LR/T, 60025 (TMR) or 52128 (leaning more to this one for the mil dot reticle).
Anyone got inputs/suggestions/objections?! Thanks.

I’ve only seen the L&S Ultra 10X M3A and subsequent Mk4 10X M3 used on the standard issued M24 SWS, but have seen the Mk4 3.5-10X on later enhanced/improved/upgraded/whatever-you-wanna-call-it M24s with newer hardware, such as this one used by “The Reaper”
Edit: I stand corrected about “standard” M24s with the variable power Mk4 3.5-10x M3, as others have posted below.

Here's a few. Bit more common to see them on a Mirs/Mars but- standard 24s with 3.5s are out there.
How, pray tell, can you determine that?
I only know they exist because one of my guys (MSG Jared Van Aalst) told me he'd shot one (either when he was in 3rd Ranger Battalion or at Regiment).

Zooming in on the photo you can faintly see the intermediate numbers on the mag ring match the other 4.5-14 models.

Bumping the above post by Blackfoot 7 for the intended “future reference”.I suspect that as well, but not sure why they'd allow the use of custom optics for a military sniper competition and not unit issued optics. I never participated in a sniper comp, so I don't know the rules.

Also, did anyone else notice what looks like a mismatched rear ring? The top ring half looks like an Ultra, and the bottom/base looks like a Mk4? Probably the nature of using what was available at hand at the time.
