Placed an order for 1K Berger 230gr Hybrid Targets last month, & they finally arrived today. Going to start load development in my 300WM soon using H-1000, Win brass, & WLRM primers. Rifle is a Montana Rifle Co. 1999 with Krieger 28" 1:10" tw. Have had very good results with the Hornady 225 HPBT, but was running low, & they were on backorder forever, so I splurged for the Berger's. I'll be moly coating them as I do with all my magnum loads.
    My 225 load is:
73.5-74.1gr of H-1000 seated .005" off the lands, gives 2836 fps. Will shoot 5 rnds into .192" @ 100 yd if driven right. And have had 5 rnds into 1 moa @ 1500 yd as well. (yes, conditions were ideal)
Hope to get these Berger Hybrids to do the same with even a little more MV, & better BC. I'll let you know...

Heck yea just got the email confirmation that my order of 230 otm hybrids, 215 hybrids and 100 pieces of Norma 300wm brass has shipped today. Can't wait for my rifle to be finished to start load testing. Gonna test with H-1000 retumbo and reloader 33.

Bigwheels look forvard to see the results how far did you shoot the 225 bullets
    have you tried the 220smk

I have had the 208's, & 225's out to 2000yd. Actually I tried 2300with the 225's but couldn't see any splash so that was inconclusive. I have had the 220's out to about 1500 but once the 210's, & 208's came out I jumped on them for the performance.

I entered the 230's weight, & bc into my 225's ballistic solution. Same velocity and all. At 1250yd it gives a full moa flatter trajectory, & 100 ft/lbs of energy. I'm hoping that with the shorter bearing surface I can actually push it a little faster than the 225's. That should give me 2000yd ss range.

I have a couple hundred sitting around, now if only I could get some h1000 and magnum primers....

Thanks for the load info though.

Hi, you have the right bullet (+coating) and the right powder - the only way is up! Keep us posted. I'm using a similar set up in 300 Norma - with slightly more powder.

I am having phenomenal results with Retumbo. FINALLY got 8#'s in Friday and have about 500 230's left. Just to help out a little if I can. The target 230's are a good bit more depth sensitive than the otms. The target hybrids seem to be more like the vlds. Gotta find a sweet spot. But given that .743 g1 vs the .719 on the otms I think it's worth finding it.

Looking good there! That's what I'm looking for with my new load. My 225 hpbt load groups just like that & as long as I can get the 230 Berger to shoot the same then I'll be very happy.

Great looking group. How far off the lands are they in your rifle? I shot some groups at 300 and found 0.003" off the lands is where they like to be in my rifle. I went all the way out to 0.050" off and found as the distance off the lands increased, the horizontal would open up. Although, the vertical actually got better. I'm pushing them at 3000 fps out of a 300 NM Improved.

If I remember correctly, I think it's 40/1000's off. I don't have my data with me. I am shooting a rifle built specifically for the 215+ sized bullets. It's a trued up rem 700 action, jewell trigger, with a 30 1/4' Broughton 5c and a 2' shrewd brake. I'm pushing the 210 vld's at 3115 fps.(still had a bunch from the previous rifle it was built on) and the 230 otm at around 3,000 confirmed at 3,4,5 then 900 yards.
I just can't find that "sweet spot" for the targets and I think they have more bearing surface.. but if I can get them shooting like the otm load I don't care how fast they are going. 2800 is fine with me!!
