Am very interested in tactical shooting (not new to shooting, just this type) What action would be good to use for a rifle build? Am liking the Surgeon so far. Also what kind of handgun and shotgun? Thanks for any info

Re: Considering tactical type shooting.

It depends on whether you are going to be babying your rifle, or putting it through a re-enactment of Dirty Jobs.

I am not putting you off with my answer, but specific rifles do specific jobs.

Re: Considering tactical type shooting.

Spend your time reading and researching, this will provide most of the answers you seek. Once you get some knowledge of your subject area and have some idea of the kinds of matches you want to shoot, get hooked up with some match directors that are running events in your area. They will usually add you to their email list when they send out match info, and they may be able to hook you up with some shooters that are close to you. Most shooters are willing to help out a new guy trying to get into the sport. Ask lots of questions when you go to a match, listen to everyone and watch everything. Use the knowledge you have already gained to filter out the BS from those who don't really know what they are talking about. SH is a great resource for LR Rifle info, also look at IDPA and USPSA for tactical pistol, tactical carbine, and tactical shotgun info. Be safe and have fun!
