The Bodies on Everest thread got me thinking. A few years back I (we) were in the early stages of planning our honeymoon. This was the second/third marriage for us so we weren't looking for traditional. We considered a trip to Nepal, NOT to climb Everest but just to be close enough to say we were there--besides I wanted to say I had been to Katmandu. That was the year they had a bad earthquake so we looked for other places.
We considered climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. Its not a "climb", more like a hard hike. yes you need to be in shape but climbing skills are not needed. Think of it this way, if you make it to the top, you can say you climbed the highest mountain in Afrika, on of the Seven Summits (highest mountain on each continent).
I was pushing for a stay on the Falklands, maybe something like a Bed and Breakfast. I wanted to visit Goose Green; but we decided it wasn't the best idea I had ever had.... Ultimately my bride decided we should do a Lion Hunt in South Afrika. Hahaha, it turned into a Lion Hunt and diamond shopping. We jumped all around southern Afrika (Johannesburg, Kimberly, Capetown, and Victoria Falls in Rhodesia errr Zimbabwe).
