Has anyone had any expirance with this paticular optic. I did a search for it, and came up with nothing. I'm shopping for a nice 1-4x for an 18" SPR I'll be building when I get home and I stumbled opon these guys from arfcom. But there was no info there. I'm all for helping the upstart new guys, but on the same page I'm completely unwilling to give away my money to the crackheads that cater to the mall ninja's. (countersniper optics comes to mind) I'm deployed right now, so it's not so easy for me to just order one and post a review. Cool as that would be, MP units are crummy about not modifiying your service rifle at all. (mine is anyway) Any help or jeers will be appreciated.

I ran across these several years ago. As I recall, he is a retired fireman who has developed reticles and other firearm products for years. Basically a one man operation. As I recall he used to sell some IOR scopes with his reticle in them. I think IOR may lisense their CQB reticle from him. I have no info on the scope he is currently selling.

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Hmm. 350 seems really cheap for something worthwile. I have a feeling that someone here has to have picked one up somewhere. Although I may end up makeing an attempt to write a review and check it over myself.

Wow, what an elitist attitude. I bet you buy premium unleaded JUST because it cost more......

BTW, wasn't trying to be a jerk, just sarcastic

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Sweet, thank you red. I'm not elitist, by any measure. I've just over the course of many bad choices found out the hard way that you truly get what you pay for with optics. (and cars) So I tend to be really cautious when I see what looks like an incredible deal.

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Ed sent me a newer version of his scope to test out a bit ago. It has a bdc for a 62 Gr 223 to 800 yds. I wrote about it on ar15.com to in the thread with 1-4,6x scope reviews. It has a range finding reticle with circles that are supposed to fit a 12" diameter in them. if it fills one up - that's the range it's at. The illumination on it was pretty good red and green options. You can't really make it out in bright sunny days outside... with it down to 1x and the illum on - it's almost like a large dot. As far as the optics go - they are surprisingly pretty good. Not as good probably as a S&B or Nightforce... but better than the millet dms i think. maybe on par with bushnell. All in all - it was fun ranging and shooting stuff at 200 yds... 300 yds. After that - i had trouble seeing that far. When i used it - i didn't notice any blur around the outside edges - which i've seen with some lower priced scopes. I think the scope is nice and Ed V. is a great person to talk to. I think a 1-6x version of the scope is coming out too. Ellis optics also uses his reticle in their scopes but at 3 - 4x the cost. That glass i think is made in japan.
Just my 2 cents

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Awesome, I read your review over at arfcom, it was really good. I really think i'm going to pick one up soon as I get back home. I've got two rifles to put together, one a 6.5 gren, and the other .223. Both are 18" "spr's" So i think this may be perfect for the .223

What is the dif. of the newer one and the old?? Any word on when the 1-6 is due to come out?

Found a bit more info on http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=441239&page=3

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Sorry, to clarify, the old one: scope and glass is made in China and the reticle only has markings up to 500 yds. Gen 2 is korean made and reticle ranges out to 800

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

Not sure when the new one is coming out - Ed had brought one to the shot show i guess. Like i said, he's a cool guy to talk with. I'm sure if you give him a call - he will definitely answer any questions about the scope and then some.

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

I have one of his first scopes. It was really cool. Only recently the reticle rotated on me. I talked with him and he'd said it was a while off before he got the new ones out, but if I wanted to wait that long he'd help me out. Every once and a while I check on it's progress. I guess it's fairly soon now huh?

Re: GSRC Rifle scope

We had two of the original ones. The optics were fine, however that reticle sucks. It looks good on paper but it does not work in real life. 1st FF isn't good at 1x unless there is a "Flashdot", Firedot", etc. independent of the reticle. With that scope at 1x you saw an elongated "box" that is tiny. At 4x that reticle is very busy. The horse-shoe covers up an extreme amount of the target, the "ranging circles", as much as they seem like a good idea, are not workable in reality, and it is very easy to "lose" the target behind the 300m dot and circle.

Ed was a good dude, but every single high level shooter that played with it hated the reticle.... YMMV
