Piecing together a .308 on a budget for hunting...gonna be used mainly by one of my sons...

Traded a GLOCK 22 to my brother for an old Rem 700 SA he had collecting dust...

Purchased this McMillan stock from kyabrams66 here on the Hide.

Found a used Hart barrel on Ebay for $80 and had it chopped to 18.25", re-threaded, & re-chambered plus bead-blasted. Sent the bolt to Jered at APA to get his knob put on. Just sent the stock to Badger to have it inletted for a DBM I have in the safe. Gonna parkerize the action and bolt. Should come together nicely and hopefully send a few piggies and whitetails to get their wings...

Daddy?

Looks like a fun combo. I actually have a very similar build at the gunsmith now, but it's for me. At 16, my sons focus has shifted if you know what I mean.

Looks like several people like your build in progress; I am one of them. Keep us posted as it is moving along.
You gonna have a very happy son, I bet it will make you a very happy father, life is good.
Good shooting.

Getting excited.... My Cerakote guy just txt'd me these two pics. Some of the parts we did in Highland Green and some in Mil-Spec Green.... Going to pick up the pieces this evening and hopefully have her pieced together and shooting by morning...

I absolutely love the lightweight rigs, and yours looks great. I bought a AAC last year and love it for a lightweight hunting rifle. Wish the pos stock was better would have loved to have put a DBM on it, but it's still a handy lil rifle. Now lets get on them deer!!!!

Cerakote seemed to be fine on the rings. Cerakote goes on so thin (1mil, I was told) that it doesn't seem to play a factor in much at all. My action actually seems smoother and the entire bolt as Cerakote'd except for its face.
