Hey everyone, so I’m new to the suppressor world but not to long range shooting. I’m looking at getting my first can and I’m torn between the TBAC ultra series (probably a 7) and the Hybrid 46. I compete locally withy AI AX with a 6CM, so accuracy is obviously important.

Does anyone know if the Hybrid will be as accurate as the TBAC? I don’t mind poi shift. I’m sure the itch to suppress a handgun or future 338 and it would be nice to have a rig capable of suppressing them.

Of course, the counter argument is to just buy more suppressors :alien::alien:

Thoughts appreciated!

I fully understand the desire for one can to do it all, but I personally wouldn't be happy with a Hybrid on a 338 LM (assuming that's the 338 that you mentioned). Personally, unless you want to suppress something larger than .338 (think .45-70), I'd go with something like a TBAC Ultra.

These two suppressors are not really in the same class honestly. I have a hybrid that I have put at least 1k rounds through now and have shot my buddies tbac 7 a bunch and tone wise the tbac will sound better on a bolt gun. Accuracy has been great and very repeatable on my bolt guns using it with the asr and direct thread. With that said, it is nice to be able to run my hybrid on my AK, AR, any bolt gun, my 9's and 45's and yes I have run it on my last 338 lapua before I sold it. Its a loud on a 338 can and even louder if you put the anchor brake end cap on the hybrid to reduce a large mag recoil impulse but doable. I am already half def so I am not a good meter for judging "hearing safe" but I will say its not nearly as nice as my big bore harvester or my buddies tbac ultra 338. One other thing to consider with the Hybrid is the real cost. To shoot the hybrid on everything, you need mounts/pistons and to maximize suppression at least the 9mm endcap and possible the 5.56 endcap. Dont waste your time with the 30 cal end cap or the anchor brakes IMO. You will have to judge the best value for yourself and if having can that can run on multiple hosts the hybrid is a great candidate.

After doing some more thinking I’m leaning more towards a dedicated rifle can now. Lots of guys that are experienced with suppressors seem to recommend role-specific cans..which obviously makes sense..getting a do-all anything is always a compromise, and it’s likely that I’ll be buying more suppressors later in life so I think it would make most sense to get what Bet fits my current need (Precision rifle can) and worry about the other niches later.

Ultra 7 and 9 look nice. I’d probably go with a direct thread model. That said, SF does a 20% msrp discount for military - the 762RC looks like a beast! Obviously more of a tactical can, but I like the idea of it being extremely durable.
