I think impact only doing AW cut if requested.sounds like you got standard magwell..any center feed mag ahould works..try ARC with lri followerJust purchased an Impact barreled action in 6.5 Creedmoor along with a Manners PRS2 mini chassis....what magazines would you guys recommend?
Appreciate the help!
Just me but I'm not a patient person. Some of us are learning as we go, seems like every time I try a short cut it bites me. At least with a prefit I have control of head space. Too short or long is easy to adjust.
I have heard that AIs will close on a no go and not close a field and that they are cut that way from the beginning to ensure reliability in the worst conditions.
If you call that a "benefit" then yes.I’m guessing this is good if you are running factory ammo, but if reloading, wouldn’t you lose that benefit? Ideally you’re going to bump the shoulder back 2-3thou regardless, right?
Think Bjay meant ARC, but these are about as reliable as you can get for that combo:
Accuracy International Chassis System Short Action 10 round magazine
triadtactical.com
I'd say without .
Guys that are removing binder plates( or are using Accuracy International variants that are sans plate) are doing so because they are running cartridges that pushing the limits of the Cartridge Overall length that will fit into a magazine and feed properly.
I don't know what bullet you are using in the 6.5creedmoor (likely factory configured) ammo, but it likely will not push the limits of the magazine internal limits.
Impact w/ AW cut in the vids
AW mag...bottom metal set so mag follower rubs the front of the bolt nose with no rounds loaded
AICS mag supporting the rifle by the mag...bolt rubs the mag lips, but doesn’t bind
So i have to ship my action to impact to get it cut? For AWI’ve been runnin the AW cut with AWs since last December...love it, have another one being cut right now
AICS mags are the easy button, but AWs are money once you set it all up right

P.s.. I just got that AI back?. Impact action is a kmw is MONEEYYYYYI’ll start with a story.
My first precision rifle was based on a Stiller. I hated it. Too tight, had to be cleaned at lunch every match, bolt stop broke several times, horrible cs,just not a great action.
So I went to a defiance deviant. Great action but a tight one. Not much better than the Stiller to be honest. Yes it has a built in recoil lug and rail and that nice and it’s a very well machined action but at the end of the day,no frills.
So I was at an Alabama Precision match and it was windy and dry. Super dusty. Everyone was either cleaning their actions every couple stages or covering thier rifles to protect them from the dust. My deviant was having a hard time,I even went to a dry lube hoping it would help. It did but it was still tough.
So about mid day I was hiking from one stage to another thinking “I need something better, like an AI or something, something designed to eat dirt”. About that time I passed Tate Streater. The impact hadn’t been out long and I knew nothing about it. Tate didn’t know me from Adam but I asked “hey Tate how’re those impacts going for you?”
“Great you need to check one out”.. “deal”
So he brought me to the Oklahoma teams linup of rifles and said “he’d feel this one,I told him not to clean it”.. “this match?!”... “no never,we want to see where it fails”..
Holy smokes, this poor action looked like you through a handful of dirt in it. I though “this poor guy is prob struggling through each stage”..
Nope... I ran thee action a couple times and it was smooth as silk. I was sold
In about two months I had the deviant sold And two impacts of my own.
Since then Tate has gone above and beyond to take care of me and Justin’s got me hooked on hornady 105 bthp’s.
I eventually did get that AI..but sold it soon after cause the reality is,with a couple impacts laying around, that AI won’t get much love. It’s the smoothest, easiest to flick, realiable action for precision rifles out there and built like a tank.
Buy one,you’ll buy two
Comes with anschutz rail.arca is an option. If you buy wothout arca make sure add picatiny rail otherwise you cant use qd bipods for picatiny.just got my exudosDoes the foundation stock come with a full length ARCA rail on the fore-end, or is it an add-on option?
So all this jag about impact action dont need the action to spin that barrel are all lies? And still better to ship action to your smith?
For a shoulder barrel?
Wow. That’s a bummer.Comes with anschutz rail.arca is an option. If you buy wothout arca make sure add picatiny rail otherwise you cant use qd bipods for picatiny.just got my exudosView attachment 7084484
Did you order dark destress?Wow. That’s a bummer.
Edit: That’s a beautiful stock, I hope mine looks similar to that.

Yes sir I did.Did you order dark destress?
Got it worked out I see, very nice.
I've always loved the look and feel of the KRG Whiskey-3. I just wish they would come up with a forend that has an integrated Arca rail as well as a method for making the chassis heavier. If they did those two things I'd probably order one immediately.

Can i use ARC magazine on impact action or no?
I use nothing but ARC magazines with mine normally, no spacer kits and it still feeds 6BR great. Can i use ARC magazine on impact action or no?
It does, however, work with a standard Rem700 action wrench. In case anyone was wondering a Bighorn action wrench will NOT work with the Impact. I was pretty upset when I went to torque on my barrel Friday lol
Unfortunately the hawkins bottom wont clear ARC...I use nothing but ARC magazines with mine normally, no spacer kits and it still feeds 6BR great.

Mine works well using either an Accurate Mag with no binder plate (I use a spacer kit for this, since I shoot 6BR) or an ARC mag without the spacer kit.
Can anyone tell me if an Impact will work with Accurate Mags that don't have the blinder plate? Deciding on my next caliber and I need to know if I'll be able to load to the OAL I need for some.
Got an almost immediate response from Tate via email. They've had no problems running mags with no blinder plate.
Is anyone running magazines with no binder plate in these actions in 6.5mm Creemoor? I've got a 737r on order that will be going in a MPA competition chassis, and I'm debating the binder vs. no-binder plate magazines (Accurate brand). I don't want to have to notch feed ramps, but would prefer the longer COAL without binder plate for loading solids. If it's going to come at the expense of reliability for things like 147gr/143gr eld-m/eld-x though, I'll just get the binder magazines. I saw post talking about this:
but that was for 6BR with a spacer kit, and another two that weren't cartridge specific:
Would that indicate with 6.5mm CM it'll be no issue for factory ammunition as well as longer handloads? That's how I'm reading it, but would like to confirm before I buy a bunch of magazines that won't work. Hands-on experience would be awesome! Thanks.
This was his exact response: "With a properly tuned magazine we have had no problem running magnums at lengths that barely fit in the accurate mag without the binder plate.
Thanks
Tate"
I ended up changing directions with the build so I no longer needed the no blinder plate mags.
I was going to build a 7SAW because I wanted something different and was impressed with its reported performance. But I'm impatient and indecisive and didn't want to bother with renting/buying the reamer, getting to a smith, making sure they got it done in time if renting, buying custom dies/brass etc. So I just built another 6mm. I LOVE my BR. It's crazy accurate and so easy to load for. Went with the 6XC so I can shoot the 115gr DTACs.Great, thank you. Now I have to figure out how to 'tune' the magazines. What'd you end up doing with your build?
This might be a stretch, but does anyone know if thsee actions will except a remage barrel?
Tuning magazines just means bending or trimming the feed lips to ensure they don't interfere with the bolt (and they release the round properly), as well as potentially shimming the magazine catch to remove any slop or play in how the magazine inserts into the rifle.Great, thank you.
