Late last year I bought a Steiner 3-12x56 Military scope from a hide member. I never got out to try it out until about a month ago. I discovered that the Illuminated reticle did not work right, I figured I could live with that and commenced shooting, I mounted it on my Blaser R8 308 and attempted to sight in. I shot at 100 yards and the elevation turret did not work correctly, I would adjust for 2.5 mils up and it moved the bullet 4 mils, then I adjusted down 4 mils and it moved 3 mils, etc, etc, this went on until I got frustrated and believed the scope to be defective. I called Steiner in Greeley, CO and they told me to send it in and they would take a look at it. I packed it up and shipped it in, about three weeks went buy and UPS delivered me a brand new Steiner 3-12x56 Military scope. I took it out today, and am happy to report that I put it through its paces and it works like a champ, passed box test without issues, moves bullet strike just like it should and the illumination control works perfectly. Thank you Steiner!!!! Great company.

That is good news, thanks for sharing.
When I'm shopping for a new optic, warranty & cs history are in my top 3 of deciding factors.
Could you please also share the name of the Hide member that sold you a defective item??
So I / others will know who isn't good 2 go.

May want to put the brakes on the witchhunt there slick. About 30 seconds of research and you too could have figured out that the scope he bought was new in the box so it is highly unlikely the seller knew about the defect.

Wow, I wasn't trying to start a witch hunt Dude.
Yes, I see now, I could have very well clicked on the Op's profile, scanned his pages of threads, clicked on the one that said Steiner/sold and read that it was brand-new in the box.
But it just seemed so much simpler to ask the op. If the seller was good to go, I think it would seem redundantly implied in my question. Meaning the op could have said either way whether the seller was good to go or not, and that the item was purchased brand-new in the box.
I'm sorry if my question offended anybody, and for my obvious laziness.
Thank you for schooling me.
