Getting rid of them by any means necessary was one of the first things they did after consolidating control.

If you think the Chinese will put up with a bunch of independents playing pirate with military ships, you don't understand communists.

Unless you have our actual navy and air force behind you, you will get wiped out in short order. And if our actual navy and air force gets involved, there is a good chance the communists see it as an existential threat and decide to go all in and see where it goes.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that the other side is any less dedicated to their own best interest as you are. Don't also think they don't spend just as much time as we do thinking about senarios.

Over the past 20 years we went and invaded some of the poorest, weakest, most backwards place on the planet. China is a whole different ball game, you either beat them at their own game of soft power and pressure, or you decide to be willing to go full on nuclear war.

The moment you as a non state actor start attacking Chinese assets / shipping / ports on the open seas in any way that actually starts to hurt China, they will throw the assets needed to eliminate you at you. And they'll have the full blessing of the international community.

Also running your own navy is pretty expensive even on a third world country level. Ships are rather expensive to keep at sea.

In addition unless you actually have the support of the US government, you'll find yourself and any fund raising activities on the wrong end of federal law. And the real military and intelligence services don't really like independents going and playing amateur hour.

I'm fairly sure @THEIS could explain to you all about how it's going to go trying to buy, equip, arm and run your own private stateless navy in a hostile way.

What exactly is your plan for being a privateer?
targets, specific objectives, hardware, capabilities, plans.

Because to be an actual legal "Privateer" means you have to get your government to agree to allow it, which then makes it essentially a defacto declaration of hostilities against the other state.

Then explain to me exactly how you think the Chinese won't respond to it with enough force to crush you unless the real military is actually backing you up, in which case it becomes game on.

Main thing would be how to avoid being tracked in that, we'd need to constantly change the look, and have some ties to being able to constantly update/change our electronic shipping IDs. Cruise around shipping lanes with some valid cargo/manifest and wait until the perfect opportunity of a single loan Chinese cargo ship is out there with us, outside of the range of any assets that would come to help.
