My local gun shop has become a Class III dealer and I want another suppressor. On paper, both the Rugged Obsidian45 and Gemtech Lunar-45 meet my basic requirements for a pistol suppressor to be used with .45ACP and 9mm.
Does anyone have first-hand experience with either of these suppressors and, if so, what are your thoughts?

Thank you, Richard

If for some reason you need a 3 lug-do not get the Rugged one, go KAW Valley.
Interesting. I own an Obsidian 9 with Rugged’s 3 lug adapter. What about the KAW makes it better?

And is this the one you’re talking about?

My answer is if you have a rifle that needs one, settle that first. Having said that, the Obsidians are nice, never an issue, easy to take apart and clean, etc. If for some reason you need a 3 lug-do not get the Rugged one, go KAW Valley.
I second the statement about not getting the Rugged 3 lug. Otherwise, the Rugged is a nice can. I have one.

@mark5pt56 Interested in knowing what’s not to love about the Rugged Obsidian on a 3- lug mount.

I have the Obsidian .45, and love it! That can is pretty much dedicated to a couple different 1911s these days, but do have a 3-lug mount on a PCC and the Obsidian fits under the hand guard better than the SiCo Hybrid 46 that normally lives under there:

Or do you mean the actual Rugged 3-lug mount?

The actual Rugged 3 lug mount, it's cheaply made--of aluminum??
I know how to mount a 3 lug and the rugged failed, used on an SP5 and BT. I switched to a KAW Valley after doing some reading a couple three years ago and haven't had a single issue with those two guns. I also found that "clocking" it works rather well, enough to matter.
My experiences anyhow, point being if buying a mount, why gamble with it?

on the BT--the left target on the 25/50 was after a slight sight change-you can see the group shift to zero and then shot with same zero w/o suppressor-matches up well at 25, slightly off at 50.

I tried with the sig mpx-and it didn't matter as that is a total pos bullet hose.

I've had my Obsidian45 for 5-6 years now I think. Used it on 9mm, 10mm, 45 and 300 blk...and it's been good. I had a baffle strike from shooting it loose on 9mm...(still feel like pistol cans need taper locks) but it wasn't an issue with the can per-say.
I've got the 1/2x28 and .578x28 piston, as well as a fixed barrel adapter. It's a good "do all" can for sure.
