And Che was an idiot... he got kak'd because he kidnapped a CIA officer in Congo and after that the (pre-Church-committee, really fun-loving Agency Varsity) decided that Che needed to go bye bye, and rightly so. By way of amusing background when they tracked Che to Bolivia, the Agency sent two Cuban veterans of the Bay of Pigs to join a group of American-trained Bolivian Rangers. Che was tracked down over a couple of weeks. He was captured alive on October 8, 1967 and executed the next day, shot on the floor of a mud hut. Duty officer at Langley who received the news of Guevara’s execution was Tom Polgar who asked La Paz station Chief John Tilton for fingerprints to confirm it was Che. “I can send fingers,” Tilton replied. Che’s hands had been cut off and preserved in jars.
