These targets are being produced by Geordie Richardson of Outback Welding and Sniper Construction near Mineral Wells, TX.

These targets are guaranteed for life and are constructed of either AR500 steel or ballistic plate. Targets include static plates and reactionary targets. I acquired some for testing and they worked as advertised. Some of the targets simply mount to a t-post which cuts down costs and makes target placement easy. The targets come in all shapes and sizes as you can see below.

Popper t-post target.

This photo depicts how it mounts to the post. Once you learn the best way to position the t-posts, the t-post targets are very stable and hold on the post.

Flip or popper target with base. I taught a carbine class this morning and we wore it out with no malfunctions. I repainted it and tried to break it by rapid firing Hornady 55gr FMJ from 100 yards. It made light dimples that are not as deep as they look in the picture. No malfunctions.

The base actually sinks into the ground which keeps it completely still.

I am very pleased with the quality of the targets and I’m happy to have a local supplier.

You can contact Geordie at 817 694 0788 or [email protected] for orders. The t-post targets run between $25 and $35 and the popper targets run between $125 and $150. IPSEC style target holders are $25. Basically he can cut and build whatever the hell you want. Call him for any other prices.

^^^^^^
Good tip!

Does he use plasma or a torch to cut? I've ran into issues with rounds damaging the outside 1/2" or so of targets from other folks, and am thinking that they were torch cut (spreading the heat too much as the shape is cut, diddling up the hardness).

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

not that i want to crap on anyones thread.....and i will probably
order some from him.....

but

how do you weld on AR500 with out affecting the property of the steel and the hardness?

it seam that cutting with a torch and welding on it would screw it all up.....

any one have any answers?

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Cardog, Cutting hardned steel with a torch will take the temper out of the metal close to the cut just as sobrbiker said. Welding on the other hand can be done without taking a measurable amount of hardness out of the steel if done right, as in not running too hot and stitch welding, along with other methods. Some of the folks that work with a lot of armor plate use water jet cutters to keep from softening the areas around the cut.

I don't frigging know. Call and ask him. If I was a welder I would be selling my own targets.

Target descriptions are as Geordie wrote them. I've been using the Australian Rosetta Stone software so I can understand it.

Don't even ask about the little guy with the T in the head. That was built as an experimental target for me that has haunted him, lol

Now that's funny!!

I like that 4" circle on the skinny stick-that could be put to devious use in a match.........

I/we plug-welded miles of this stuff. Not saying it's the best way, but it sure worked well.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Sorbiker
some of this stuff is cut with plasma and some with propeylene torch. Regardless we have seen no softness to edges after cutting and shooting many of these and purposely shooting the edges to try and break, bend or ding them... they stay as hard as CKA on Vigra... to say the least.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Thanks Rich. I'll talk to Scott after the big match and definately get him Geordie's contact info, we've got lots of steel, but one can never have enough right?
You all making it to Phx next week?
