Wondering what your preference is for engraving an AR15 receiver for registration as SBR or Machine gun?

I have a buddy with a laser engraver, but Im not sure how well that works through hard anodizing?

Would I be better off having it engraved on a CNC so there is some depth to it incase I ever blast/cerakote it?



If so, anyone on here want to tackle a couple for me? Looking to get name/location plus the final selector switch position symbol added. I used to send barrels to Kampfeld before electro etching, Im sure he could do it but I know hes a pretty busy guy.

Interested in this as well...Well someone who can do the engraving work if I ship them a stripped lower.

Many, laser engravers have difficulty achieving (or at least guaranteeing) the minimum depth. I've heard of just a handful who claim they can do it reliably, and will guarantee it, and it takes multiple passes to get there. I'm sure there are more that can do it than I know of, but my experience has been the majority of laser engravers can't guarantee the depth.

Because of this, I stuck with traditional engraving, and I recommend my friends do the same.

In case you were not aware the ATF requires .003 minimum depth throughout all of the engraving. I'd go a bit deeper if you ever plan on coating it again, as that will likely shallow out the engraving some.

There are a couple places online that that specialize in Laser engraving these parts. can't remember name of the top of my head.
