POF P308 Anyone?

Quick topic b4 i head out for work tonight. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the somewhat new POF-USA P308 rifle. The POF P415 on the cover of this months issue of AR-15 is the P308's older brother that shoots a .223

The review of the P415 was fantastic showing how POF's new AR's use a gas piston system with virtually no lube upkeep required. At 100 yards they were shooting .6 - 1.0in groups. Take a peek at the article if you come across the magazine if u can. I was thinking of trying out the .308 version with this sexy tactical stock and a Trijicon 4x scope or greater. Was looking for something light with kick and versatility.

THoughts anyone?

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

Lowlight's vid review gives you a great visual explanation of how the POF P-308 can perform.

I have had my 20" SPR for over 1.5yrs now and it has been everything and more I could have asked for. 100% reliability with Magpul LR-20 PMAGs, excellent components used by POF for building these, including the Rock 5R barrels, sub-MOA accurate with match ammo and my reloads and from a company dedicated to its customers (several folks associated with POF are members here and are always glad to pitch in to see that customers are happy and, if problems arise, they are dealt with quickly and to the customer's satisfaction).

There are several threads floating around here that deal with reviews of the P-308 rifles and even offer some comparisons to other semi-auto 308 platforms. Here are a few:

Anyway...that should get you started, but there are other threads floating around that will basically get you the same info. In short...the P-308s are excellent rifles! Good luck!

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

By far the best most durable, reliable, and accurate piston driven system on the market!! Buy with confidence you wont regret it!!

If you have any questions i own 5 POFS!

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

all 49 shooter got to put 10rds through a POF 308 in Oregon, as far as i know it ran flawless (- the brass catcher issue at the beginning)

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

POF has been sponsoring the Sniper's Hide Cup for several years. They host the helicopter event and every shooter uses the POF then it is awarded to the winner. We have never had a single issue with any of them 5.56 or 308.

They are a huge sponsor for us as well. Their rifles are absolutely top notch so you can most certainly buy with confidence.

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

POF makes an excellent product. I have a .308 and .223 from them and love them. I would highly recommend them.

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

I have had mine for over a year, zero problems!! You can read alot of crap on the internet but my POF 308 runs great and is extremely accurate with FGMM 168 and Hornady A-Max 168. However, I do clean and lube my rifle. I am by no means a world class shooter, like some of the members here, but out to the 400yrd marker that my range is limited to, this thing rocks. The only thing strange about this rifle is the more I shoot it, the more accurate the rifle gets........

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

Wow guys thanks for the amazing feedback. Exactly what i was hoping to hear. And Lowlight thanks for the great video, it definitely showed how sexy this gun is. This would be my first rifle so now i just gotta save up the 2.6k and see if my local gun range can specialty order it for meh.

PS: and thanks for the tips on grip position and trigger pull. Great advice

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

Quick question on this....love my P-415, but when I took a look at the P-308, I had to wonder if it ever has a problem catching rounds....the bolt, fully retracted, seems to barely clear the magazine/follower (only by a couple of milimeters).

Not nearly as astute as many of you out there so thought I would ask....does this lead to a problem with feeding? It sounds like folks aren't having problems on this, but am I missing something? Seems like you would want more clearance. Maybe that's all the clearance you need. Please provide comments as I am considering a P-308.

By comparison, when you look at something like the REPR 7.62, which I now own, you see a lot more clearance from the magazine/follower with the bolt drawn back.

Just wondering if this has been an issue with anyone that owns the P-308.

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

I thought the Team Hornady cycling team would be over in France right now for the tour.

Who do I need to know to get one of those slick shirts

Re: POF P308 Anyone?

Thats the set up I just bought. 20" (black). The dealer switched out the Vltor for a PRS for me. It should be here by next wednesday. I have in the past had an AR10T and DPMS SASS and was pleased with both, so I'm hopeing I will really be blown away by the POF!
