i noticed i wasnt the only trg 42 owner who wanted to be able to adjust the resistance/tension in the cant of the sako bipod so it was not too loose when shooting prone [especially if the ground is not level with the target so you need to tilt the cant]. so i thought i'd post this info. a buddy of mine who is a master machinist, Chris Self [Miracle Machine is his business] in Selma AL did a great job with 2 cents of stainless steel making a washer to take up 2 thousandths of the extra space left by sako and he adjusted the set screw so that i can now adjust the tension with an allyn wrench. it works great. i suggest anyone who wants to fix this give chris a call at 334 872 0121 [that's his cell phoneat his shop]. if you mail him your bipod with $25 + return shipping it will come back to you with the problem solved. if you are handy enough to fix this yourself just ask him for the washer, he'll mail it to you...good luck...

Can you explain a little more about what was done ?

There was a recent post about shimming the bipod with steel from a set of feeler gauges - not had chance to try it yet.

I don't see how the pivot bolt could add tension, was an extra screw added ? If so pics would be great.

Cheers

Tony

i actually dont know what chris did to make it so the set screw allows tightening the cant tension with an allyn wrench[rather than it bottoming out onto the body of the bipod part-no he didnt add an extra screw, just the 2mm stainless steel donut shim], i suggest you give him a call, he is a real nice guy who loves to chat, he is at 334 872 0121 [that's his cell phone at his shop].
