Did you watch the whole video? They weren’t able to make a determination by the pictures whether or not he was wearing any. He didn’t think Charlie’s wearing plates either (unless they started making plates with nipples) but His security guards said Charlie always wore plates mainly because Erika wanted him to. I don’t think he was wearing any, but when they slow the frame down on impact, the way his shirt reacts, plus the mark on his shirt right below his throat looks like a possible a ricochet off a high plate impact up into his throat. Most pictures it’s pretty clear he’s not wearing any but that frame by frame from the side shot makes you question it a bit. Was the bullet traveling at a downward angle or upward (ie off a high plate impact). Autopsy will show.

I ran the ballistics on a 165gr .30-06 at that elevation and temperature, and it still has over 2000ft-lbs, even a flat-based soft point with low BC of .387 G1.
Normally when you see a high velocity missile in .30 cal weight classes impact tissue at 2348fps with over 2000ft-lbs, it’s a lot more violent than what we saw. Severe traumatic avulsion, separation of connected tissues, massive blood and tissue splatter all over.
The inside of the tent would have been a blood bath I think.

If a rifle shooter used a reduced load, maybe it would manifest that type of injury, but the entrance looks awfully large for a .30 cal.
