I have always wanted a Steyr SSG so I finally bought one

After I got it home, I tore it down as I usually do and gave it a thorough cleaning.

Took it to the range to zero the scope prior to any load development. So now, its on paper and time to get serious.

I am normally a Remington shooter and am used to pillar bedding my rifles.

Anybody here bed these rifles? What are the issues that I would need to know about before I think about trying.

I've bedded the Rem plastic before with varying results. Usually I just go to McMillan

I appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.

Re: Steyr SSG 69 bedding questions

I just bought a McMillan stock for my SSG-69. I think in the long run that it is the better move than playing around with the tupperware factory stock that comes on the Steyr. An expensive upgrade, but quality never comes cheap. Plus, it is basically a drop in job to put the barreled action in the McMillan stock.

Hi there, you say you got a mc millan for your ssg 69?

Is your the one with iron sights? or the p1 or p2 variant?

I have an SSG 69, Iron sights, in .243 and looking it re stocked!

Ideas?
