Rifle Scopes torque for scope rings

hey guys i got a question about how tight to make your scope rings on a rifle. how is the best way to tell if they are to tight.i usually go to hand tight.

im not sure what the rings are, the scope is a crossman centerpoint 4-16x40mm.there are four screws per ring. i just bought this scope today becouse the one i had wouldnt dial in anymore ive had it for 2yrs. i had it on my rem. 700 police 300mag. thats why im asking i want to make sure i did it right.

15-20 inch pounds is the standrd making sure the gap is equal on both sides of the rings

thanks for the info i think i will be ok i just got done sighting the scope i bought im getting 1\2 inch grps. at 100yrds. and the scope holds its zero .
