The Luminox Atacama Field Chrono. Alarm 1942.BOB has caught my eye, but the only place I really trust is the direct link off of Luminox's site. Any reputable dealers online anyone has had experience with? Pic of the awesomeness below.

Also who is wearing Luminox time pieces?

Sorry, only Seal's have Luminox's. Since there are no Seal's on Snipers Hide... not sure how we can help.

That said... there are far better watches out there for the $$ than Luminox. But if that is what you want, probably eBay is best bet. Check feedback of seller and don't buy from Nigeria. Common sense.

But before looking at a Luminox, check out Resco Instruments. A bit more pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Cheers,

So maybe I am better off saving the coin and just getting the Citizen EcoDrive Nighthawk? Kinda dissapointed to hear the bad luck with Luminox. I am certainly no high speed low drag operator, but I have also likes the looks of the luminous. I will also check out the other suggestions. Any one else?

I have a luminox. The only reason I have it still is because my wife gave it to me since she knew I liked them for a long time. Never gets worn now because it eats batteries and looses like at least 3 minutes a month. Try looking at lumtec too. I saw one in one of Franks videos and asked him about it. They are nice watches

I've never had a problem with my Luminox. It is 4 years old and it is pretty much my everyday watch so it gets worn more than any other watch I own. I own several high end brands as it is my only other hobby besides shooting. It keeps excellent time and pretty much complements anything you wear.

Go to their website and look for a dealer local to you.

I would never buy an expensive watch from an on-line source because if there is an issue; it is much more complicated. Any reputable dealer will give you a decent discount. I would expect 20% minimum from retail.

Go to www.watchrecon.com You can find some exceptional deals on there for any kind of watch. Yeah, they're "used" watches but a lot of times guys will buy a watch and then not like it. I'm talking Omegas, Breitlings and even Luminoxes. You would be amazed at how much money you can save compared to brand new.

This was a while back now but when I started seeing those ads in magazines I asked an active duty Seal I know if they really used those. He said no one he knew did. They were given Casio G-Shocks at work and they had cases of them. For what it's worth he was pretty high on G-Shocks and claimed you could throw them against a brick wall and they would keep going. Operationally he said the only downside was the lumination was waaaay too bright and you had to be careful. No idea what the story is today. But I would be sceptical about the claims -- including the "Swiss Made" part.

I have a pretty swanky watch collection. But not very reasonably priced.

Costco often has some nice grey market imports they will warranty themselves IIRC (I don't think the makers will) that are in the realm of reasonable pricing. Www.collectorstime.com and places like that have the high-end at discount.

If cool illumination floats your boat you want to save up for a Ball.

They're about the only ones who use sweet 1mm tubes of radioactive tritium goodness. Very cool.

You could do a lot worse than a Tissot IMHO...great watches.

Buddy has one that does all the metering and it's still going strong maybe ten years later. He once sent it in for service and they made some mistakes -- but they fixed it with a new replacement. Lots of bang for the buck there, IMO. Longine too seem like a lot of watch for the money.
