Your PVA prefit experience

I've got a PVA Osprey barrel blank in their 3b and here are the specs on mine:

6mm, 27" blank = 61.7 oz.

I got them to contour the shank down to the "Tikka" OD and it measures 1.145" at the breech end, so keep that in mind.

I'm planning on a 6 creed at 18-20" so I'm guessing final weight will be around the 37-39 oz after chambering and threading, etc. It's at the smiths, so we shall see.
Thank you for the detailed response, I appreciate it!

My 6mm ARC Osprey barrel showed up and it’s awesome! The fluting is very cool. From my other Ospreys I know it will shoot as good as it looks.

@bohem
Do you have a .284 Winchester chamber reamer in stock ?
I was looking at a shouldered Rock Creek Prefit for a Tikka T3 and that chambering wasn't listed in the dropdown menu.

I'd like to know this as well.
I asked the same question a few weeks back and the answer is yes, it's just not on the drop down menu. It's a .284 reamer set up for LA and apparently some people were ordering it expecting it to work for a SA, so there was some confusion. He said you just need to call and place an order for that particular reamer.

My smith is kind of busy with hunting season around the corner and I might begrudgingly try a PVA prefit. My dealer has both CDG and Nuke 223 barrels in stock, not sure about which freebore though.

What's the word on the 223 chamber on the OBW ? I foolishly sold my SAC Desert tech 223rem kit which I was a 1/4 moa barrel (rem match chamber, long FB, I think either 100 or 169FB, was shooting the 75 ELD-M at 2.525in)

Has anyone got these to shoot really well ?

Chamber would depend on what he ordered as PVA offers a couple options. I have a PVA with a .223 Wylde chamber and it’s very accurate. Highly recommend them.

Did you go with 69 or 100 FB ?

The 223 wylde is a .062 FB, our standard 223 is .100. Custom throating is available as well

Got out today to shoot some groups at 100 with chrono and shoot a little longer distance with my 20" Marksman contour 6 creed. Factory ammo I bought for brass. Figured I'd chrono since I'm around 100 rounds through the barrel.

Avr 2837fps SD 21 over 10 rounds

Hornady Black 105gr
Avr 2834fps - SD 10

----------
Shot some 103eld-x that has always shot bad and it might be a bad lot. 5shot goups were 1.25" and around 2"
Avr 2913fps with SD of 75 over 10 rounds. Even when I threw out the top two and bottom two I still got a SD of 43. Contacted hornady about maybe i got a bad lot.
--------
Was short on time but I had a 10" plate at 460yards. Setup on bipod and favored toward the right edge for first shot cause I wasn't sure of wind. Shot hit where I was aiming. So held center and shot 4 more and am thrilled with results. 95gr Berger.

Called Hornady and the tech there said that is definitely weird results I got but said there were too many variables to say what caused it.
He said my lot of 103eld-x at the factory tested (out of 24" barrel) at velocity of 3032 with a SD of 9 and they had no complaints. He said he'd make a note of it to higher ups and wished me a good day after saying the results I got with the 105gr Black was pretty typical of what they are used to seeing.
So I have no idea why this load is so bad in my rifle and the others are so good.
I understand not all rifles like every load, but have no idea what would cause that crazy high SD, if it's not the ammo.
I'll probably pull apart the remaining rounds I have left at some point, check charges and bullet weights and reload the bullets to see if they'll group with handloads.

First is 55g or 50g v max blaster ammo loaded with wc844 in 1x wolf gold brass.

PVA remage 223. This is shots 5-10 after zeroing it for the first time.[

75 a max load worked up for another barrel. The shot farthest out I think was me forcing gun on target. The two little holes are my 17hmr.

Had to iron a few thing out with my stock, but Now we’re getting somewhere… .223 pva 75gr eldms with 2520 5 shot group. All charges shot except 1 were all under a half inch at 100 yards. Small group was this morning confirming a few charges. Last picture was initial ocw two days ago. 1 sighted to get on paper, and then 9 shots, each of different charge weights just checking for pressure.

Yes, I received a cerakoted 22BRA. I'd guess that's not a popular option and the coating takes a bit. So they are getting barrels out.

What chambering did you order? PVA runs batches of barrels by chambering to avoid downtime swapping out reamers.

Anyone have any luck with getting PVA to cut their "CDM" sales barrels for the Nucleus? They have every other action offered, but not any ARC builds. Was going to pull the trigger on another barrel.

Ummm, they already do? Nucleus is a savage small shank. The CDM sale is on barrel nut barrels.

July sale 6.5CM Savage pre-fit is averaging 3/10'ths with 140 ELD-M's and H4350 @ 2750 FPS.

Pretty happy!

Does anyone have any experience with a 28 nosler barrel from PVA? I'm curious what the freebore is and if it's long enough for the 190 Berger hybrids.

my LP Fuzion has a PVA Rock Creek prefit in 6 BRA with 1,650 rounds on it. I decided to do a tune up at 600 yards since the season finale is coming up for my local club. After checking zero and truing I proceeded to shoot this 15-round group on a 4”x6” IPSC at 600 with my left over ammo. Kind of amazing because I’ve been struggling to shoot 1/2 minute at 100 then print this at 600 😂 not sure where all the impacts are 100% but I definitely hit it 15 times in a row in about ~2.5” group

the 6BRA feeds great. Yup AW mags and the HRD kit. I did have to polish the lips on the magazine with some 400 then 800 grit sandpaper because it was causing feeding issues with >7 rounds in the mag. But now it’s smooth as butter. Can barely feel it pick rounds up it’s so smooth. Love it, couldn’t be happier.

First day with new 6.5 creed prefit. 5 shots

this was my second barrel from them. The first one I got was a 22 GT and it is the best shooting barrel I have ever had 1/4 moa or smaller everyday. just amazing makes me want to only shoot that thing.
