So today started because at my local range I don't always get one of the bays where I can get 50 yards to use my normal rimfire practice targets and I wanted something I could put up at 25 yards that I could shoot with irons or an optic. Today's trip was really just fleshing out some ideas with different targets and taking notes on things I might change for later.



I took my B14R in an AX AICS with one of those piece of shit XTRIII's on it using Norma Tac-22 ammo and to make today more funner, no bipods or rear bag, sling only, except for five position, which I shot from my tripod. The left side targets are based on a free Project Appleseed target I found and the right side targets are plays on my other target with five-position shoots, cold bore, and dot drill. The extra shots into the heads of the E2 targets were me playing around with the last 10 rounds I had.

What did I learn? Basically, sling shooting ain't easy, it kicks my ass but it's a skillset I felt I needed to dust off and I'm glad I did. The Armageddon Gear PRS sling is still my favorite all-purpose sling, it's not perfect, but it will get the job done, no muss, no fuss.

I didn't get any pics but I also modified some targets used in Norwegian stangskyting compeititons and sized them for 25 yards. I tried shooting it like they do in the stang matches but that gun isn't designed for that lol...nor am I. In those matches, competitors have 25 seconds to get as many rounds on target as possible and from what I saw most could do 12-13 with reloads thrown in, fat old me was getting like 6 or 7 lol. Hella fun though, might sub in those targets.

I don’t normally get involved in surveys or “whadaya think “ questions, but here’s what I have. AIAT dropped into an ATX chassis and I need to replace my 30 year old Harris. Probably a Ckye or TBAC bipod, but I’m thinking about keeping the relic for a while longer and jumping into a tripod. Shoot on the farm for predators and such, no matches as of yet. Hills and woods, but long open “lanes” to set up on.

Could anyone add their thoughts on DLC ( Diamond Like Carbon coatings ) for BCG's ?
It appears to be coating... so proper application and prep is critical. Does it add thickness to parts , like NiB ?
Would the DLC BCG hold oil as well as a phosphate BCG ?
Given my limited knowledge... I would assume it doesn't.
And since it might shed oil / lube.. would it be "harder" on a upper ? IE, produce more wear inside a typical upper, if not kept lubed

I did buy one, and it is smooth with a lighter pull weight. I have tried all sorts of Schmid Tool 2 stage triggers manufactured for the various companies, and IMHO, like everything else, the various Schmid 2 Stage's made for companies do have different QC levels from the sellers.
That application , seems like a good choice. (?)

This likely more and ammo post(if there is a better forum, let me know). But did anyone pick up some of the Black Hills 223 75gr match up from Brownells back in March?

This is Redbox black hills but I finally got to the range with it today with my Rem7005R. I've never had any issue with this rifle(used a trainer) but today I had 14 failures out of 25 shots. Those that fired were typical Black hills quality with a few ragged hole groups.

Attached is a after shot case photo. The first 14 from the right are the misfires. The next 11 starting with the leaned out one fired as normal(this is not the order they were fired...but just so you can see the primers). I see no difference in the primers impacts.

But I wanted to check and see if anyone else has had a similar experience with these black hills possibly with the same lots from Brownells, maybe?

Darn cats chewed through the cord for my Mil Dot Master.

Anyone know who sells replacements? Not finding any in the PX and the folks at Impact say they no longer stock for older models.
