Some things to know.
1. There is no safety. Load only when you are ready to shoot.
2. There is no bolt hold open. Bolt will lock back after last shot. To close bolt pull, remove empty mag, pull charging handle back and release. If you are at a range, use a chamber flag to show safe.
3. Uses any AR mag to include drums.
4. Uses any AR buttstock.

What is everyone’s favorite bag or case for their tripod setup? I’m using a RRS tripod and head and wanting to see what’s the consensus of the best to protect and travel with it.

So, I am going down the rabbit hole of chasing precision from a gas gun, simultaneously working on developing both my shooting skills and precision reloading skills. It's a fun journey for the most part, I would be lying if I said there was never any frustration or bumps in the road!

I know a lot can be done when loading long in a gas gun if one is willing to single feed but I became curious about what realistically are the capabilities shooting either a 55/77 Berger or 69/77 SMK that is magazine length? I would be curious to hear your results, see targets and load data (I debated whether to post this thread here or in the reloading forum if Mods feel it should be moved please do so). I would like to see results at 1-300 yards ideally and although if you have a target and load that you shot in the ones when all the stars aligned that's great but really want to know data that is consistent, on any given day if you do your part it will perform at x level.

I have a Cadex action with a 16” 1:8 twist CF barrel in 308 from Proof Research with a socom muzzle brake. I took it out yesterday and shot Barnes 168 gr ttsx bt and hornaday precision hunter 178 gr eldx. With out the suppressor the rifle shot tight groups (touching). Once I installed my surefire 300 sps suppressor the groups opened up to 1.5” to 2 inches at 100. Has anyone had similar experience? Next weekend I was going to try my direct thread 30 cal suppressor to see it there is a difference. The surefire didn’t have the same issue on my GAP HRT in 260.

(This is a repost from Optics and Sighting Devices) Im hoping to build a clone M40a3 (ok, have it built by GAP) over the next year or so. I was looking at ways to outfit it and still be clone correct. Does anyone know the specifications of the Schmidt & Bender 3-12 they used to run on the USMC rifles? I know its a PMII, but are there different generations of PMIIs, do they run illumination, which reticle do they use (I would imagine Mil-Dot/P3)? Also, I have seen some A3s with the night vision rail up front. Was this something the Corps did while transitioning from the A3 to the A5? Thanks!

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) is considering signing legislation into law that would allow illegal aliens, enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, to become police officers in the sanctuary state.

Democrat legislators, with a supermajority in the Illinois House and Senate, passed legislation late last month that would allow thousands of DACA illegal aliens living in the state to become police officers or deputy sheriffs.

“… an individual against whom immigration action has been deferred by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process is allowed to apply for the position of police officer, deputy sheriff, or special policeman, subject to specified requirements,” a summary of the legislation states.

The legislation has been pending before Pritzker since mid-June but he has not signed it into law. Even if Pritzker vetoes the bill, though, Democrats in both legislative chambers can override that veto with their supermajority powers.

In the sanctuary state of California, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has made it possible for illegal aliens to become police officers on the local, county, and state levels.

The law, implemented earlier this year, requires only that officers have a work permit issued by the federal government. Work permits, specifically under President Joe Biden’s administration, are given out regularly to border crossers and illegal aliens released into the United States after crossing the southern border.

Remington 700 bolt handle falls off today​

So there I was today, Quantico Range 4, on 1000 yd line, shooting my 700 Remington 3006 precision rifle encased in an Accuracy International chassis , flicking bolt open with two fingers, to extract fired case and bolt handle falls off bolt body. Seems barely a weld done to attach handle to bolt.

At first, I was thinking No More Wheaties for breakfast but I'm going to stop opening bolt after firing with 2 fingers, better do it with one, after all, new bolts ain't cheap. LOL.

This was a pain in the neck moment, looking up and bolt handle between my two fingers. Made in USA or did Remington "out source" that bolt? Will have handle re welded back on, not even going to ask about warranty with Remington, if sent to them, the bolt would be gone six months and I'd lose all this summer and fall shooting.

In this instance time not money is driving factor. Heck with warranty and Remington fix it at their cost, I want to shoot right now so the bucks to fix bolt handle is money well spent.

Get it fixed....use one finger from now on LOL. LOL LOL.

Such a sad note the desperate times and condition of Remington, once a magnificent firearms company.

But wait....late breaking news: this bolt per an expert out of Quantico Shooting Club states is a Pacific Tool & Guide bolt sold to me with a Rem 700 barreled action. Reaching back , I remember, this i s a barreled action PTG bought off the factory floor of Remington when they went bank rupt, then advertised & sold to be as a complete barreled action . But what arrived was a naked bare bolt body and the barreled action. PTG response was unresponsive so with friends help, bolt parts sourced and rifle made operational. I had long put the PTG switcheroo and missing parts in rear view mirror.


Now the wisdom of dealing with PTG is back once again, their bolt fell apart today.

Resolved to weld handle on and turn the page. PTG is what they are, I learned a hard lesson. I got PTG'd......over and over again.

Is there a long term lesson learned here...yes : use one finger when operating a PTG bolt.
