Activists Upset as Black Family Sells ‘Reparations’ Land Back to Government

Activists are upset that the Bruce family, which received oceanfront property last year that was unjustly taken from its forebears by the government, has now sold it back to Los Angeles County for $20 million.

As Breitbart News reported in 2021, the story of the Bruce family was a compelling case for restitution:

The owners, Willa and Charles Bruce, purchased the land in 1912 and created a beach resort catering to black clients before the city used eminent domain to seize the property.
The land was dormant for decades until the city built a park in 1960 and later renamed it Bruce’s Beach. Descendants of Willa and Charles Bruce sued, claiming the eminent domain program was racially motivated.
The land was seized by the city of Manhattan Beach, then transferred to the state, then to Los Angeles County.
Finally, in 2022, the land was returned to the descendants of the Bruce family in an emotional public ceremony.
However, the New York Times reports, the family then decided to sell the land back to the county, given the difficulty of developing the beachfront property, and the fact that the asset could be turned quickly into cash.
That has left some activists disappointed, and has complicated the debate about broader racial reparations:
The Bruces’ decision to sell has stirred fresh debate about the goals and methods of reparations, just as those efforts have been gaining traction at universities and local governments.
Activists who had helped the Bruces secure the land, and other observers, were disappointed that the family decided not to hold onto it and try to reclaim the vision of their ancestors.
“Say it ain’t so,” Tavis Smiley said on his radio show. “It was the quintessential example, to my mind at least, of how reparations should work. And many of us were heartened by this rare public example of government doing right by Black folk.”
The activists apparently fail to distinguish between reparations for past wrongs in the abstract, and restitution to account for specific damages to specific people, in this case the racially-motivated seizure of private property.
California and some local governments — including the City of San Francisco — are currently debating reparations for slavery, even though California was not a slave state and entered the U.S. as a free state in 1850.

"VE VILL TELL YOU VHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO VITH YOUR REPARATIONS! VE VANT OUR CUT!

SOLD 2021 GAP PPR

2021 Gap PPR (the gladius/tenacity action)
6 creedmoor
Weighted Arca rail
Action is bedded by GAP (still qualifies as production) (I know I know)

Round count is nearing 1000 (hence the price) its somewhere between 950-1000.

I’ve never ran it over 2900fps and have a healthy jump, so your guess is as good as mine as to how many more it’ll go. I know as of now it is hammering. I’d be willing to share my recipe.

I messed around with adding some weight to the arca rail and made a brass knob for the cheek piece, I’m gonna leave that on. For an extra 100$ I’ll ship the bipod also, otherwise it’s not included.

I bought this rifle to use for my “first PRS season” it is a hell of a rifle. I just don’t see myself using it anymore.

2000.0 to your FFL

Thanks for looking.

Which one is most durable/repeatable? If

So I’ve narrowed it down to these. There is a pretty significant price difference from low to high. In terms of durability, tracking and return to zero consistency, is there a clear winner/superior scope in this group or is durability close enough that I should choose based on price?
1. NF SHV 4-14x50 $1160
2. Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42 $875
3. Burris XTR 3 3.3-18x50 $1149
4. Primary Arms GLX 4-16x50 $675

SOLD WTS/WTT: JP Rifle SCI-20 Side Charger.

SOLD

Trade towards a Staccato CS DPO w/ threaded barrel.

This rifle is super clean and stupid accurate, especially at distance!

I bought this JP rifle last January and I don't use it enough to justify hanging on to it.
I shot it suppressed and added 2 weights to the SCS buffer. Weight is increased by 1.8oz. Will also include the the original buffer weights. Not pictured is a billet red hand stop which will also be included. I also added a JP front rail for a bipod mount.

I keep a data book on this rifle (Included in the sale) of every time it was used.

I have successfully taken this rifle from 500-900 yards with 77gr projectiles. See video posted below.

It will ship in the original box with everything it came with.

Not included are the bipod, scope, or suppressor.

I will install the original brake that came on it.

Edit: 590 rounds through this rifle.

Asking 3K shipped from my FFL to yours. This saves you $300 off of new. Shipping a rifle from my FFL is around $100.

I'd prefer Zelle as payment so I don't get hit with taxes. I have good feedback, buy with confidence!

Can send more pic's if needed.

San Francisco Reconsiders Boycott of Conservative States; Adds 10-20% to Costs

The City of San Francisco is reportedly reconsidering its boycott on socially conservatives states, after the ban on travel and contracting failed to change those states’ policies and raised the city’s contracting costs 10-20%.

As Breitbart News has reported, San Francisco and the State of California as a whole have imposed boycotts and travel bans on Republican-governed states that have banned transgender bathrooms or restricted abortion.

Fox News notes that San Francisco’s original “2016 ordinance, Chapter 12X, was initially passed in the wake of the Obergefell v. Hodges decision to include states that passed anti-LGBTQ legislation, but was amended twice in 2019 and 2021 to add additional states who passed restrictive abortion and voting rights legislation.”

As the San Francisco Chronicle noted last week, the city’s ban applies to 30 states, only one of which has been removed from the banned list — and it did not refer to the San Francisco ban as the reason for having done so.

Meanwhile, Fox News observes, city officials have concluded that the ban has raised the city’s contracting costs.

A report released by City Administrator Carmen Chu earlier this month observed: “While it is difficult to quantify the exact cost of 12X to the City, the Budget and Legislative Analyst notes that a loss in competition is likely to increase the City’s contracting costs by 10 – 20% annually. These costs could continue to increase and compound overtime as the City’s potential contractor pool shrinks if the list of banned states grows.”

Chu has offered several alternatives, including repealing the boycott entirely, or amending it in various ways.

Several members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have already introduced proposals to that effect, either urging the ordinance be repealed or that construction contracts be exempted from the red-state boycott.

James O’Keefe fired from Project Veritas

Headline says it all.

Guess that instead of firing the gay violent executive who bragged about gain of function, Pfizer went to O’Keefe’s board and got him fired.

From the company he founded.

Wonder if Pfizer offered the Board members antidotes for their Vaxxes?

2022 and newer vehicle warning

I am finally where I have some time to do some typing on a keyboard and wanted to post this for discussion or warning...

Last weekend (Saturday night to be exact) a buddy had his brand new (less than a week, paper plates still on it) F250 Diesel stolen out of a parking lot in Naples, Fl. It was hooked to his newish (less than 6 months old) trailer. That had is beautifully-restored 1949 Cadillac in it. Convertible, no less. On his way to a charity car show.

According to the police (he is a retired Orlando officer, BTW), the thieves cloned his key from the parking lot. May even have followed his rig TO the parking lot. They got the signal off his key (apparently you can do that from as far away as 500 feet with a new fob and new batteries). In 43 seconds after getting in the vehicle, they had disabled the Tracker (aka On Star or similar). And the whole rig is gone. Officers said that 2022 and newer vehicles have a 'weakness.'

My guess is the truck and car are in containers to Asia or Middle East and the trailer is off to landscapers. Also that the new keys are easily cloned or that a VIN can be matched with a code. Maybe from a database stolen from Mfg's... or from Chinese Key Fob Makers... and floating around dark web. Plug a Laptop into the OBD-II port and replace software or simply flip electronic switches. Drive truck away to a shipping port or warehouse...

Not sure if any of you tech wizards know more. Or if my assumptions are right/wrong/loony? Or if anyone is hearing about incidents like this. But now definitely making me nervous about a 'Push Button Key' and clone tech.

Guess it's time to get The Club or one of those "steering wheel to brake" bar lock thingies. Which can be disabled in seconds with bolt cutters through steering wheel... but maybe it makes thieves just go to the next truck. Or maybe we need to boot them now... trailers, too.

Getting tired of crime running both rampant and going unpunished. Texas used to have a saying "There's more men that need hanging, than there are horses that need 'stealin."

Time for the return of the necktie party, methinks.

McCarthy Grants Tucker Carlson Access to 41,000 Hours of January 6 Video

2:39

Fox News host Tucker Carlson reportedly has access to tens of thousands of hours of footage from the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, thanks to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Sources informed Axios co-founder Mike Allen that Carlson’s team was in Washington, DC, last week going through some of the footage, and it will begin to roll out on Carlson’s programs in the forthcoming weeks.
The two sides have been communicating on the matter since earlier this month, Allen noted, citing correspondence he has seen. Additionally, the cache reportedly totals a whopping 41,000 hours of footage rather than the 14,000 hours previously reported.
“[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson told Axios.
“If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that,” he added.
McCarthy vowed last month to release the January 6 footage while speaking with reporters, as Breitbart News reported, and the move to grant Carlson access marks a significant step.
When asked on January 12 if he would release the videos, McCarthy told reporters, “I want to be very thoughtful about it, but yes, I’m engaged to do that.”
Speaker McCarthy promises to release all of the security footage from January 6 pic.twitter.com/WgBYhSYRxZ
— Citizen Free Press (@CitizenFreePres) January 12, 2023
He added:
I think the public should see what happened on that day. I watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. Where for the first time in the history as a Speaker, not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee. We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written on a political basis.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told TurningPoint USA founder Charlie Kirk days earlier that McCarthy agreed to release the footage as part of a deal he cut with a bloc of Republican holdouts to get the votes for the speakership.
“Kevin McCarthy told us he’s going to get the evidence out in front of the American people, and that means releasing the 14,000 hours of tapes that have been hidden,” said Gaetz. He added that the videos would “give more full context to that day, rather than the cherry-picked moments that the January 6 committee tried to use to inflame and further divide our country.”
Thank you to the 20 patriots who helped EARN this commitment from the Speaker.
Thank you @SpeakerMcCarthy for affirming this commitment you made.
Keeping promises is how trust is built.
I’m growing more optimistic by the day! https://t.co/uYAaT5sG0f
— Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) January 12, 2023
He lauded McCarthy after his January 12 pledge, thanking him “for affirming this commitment.”

Prayers for a family

Hey y’all. My daughter (11) asked me to post here because she knows what a good bunch we have. A mother to one of her friends has been put on hospice after unsuccessful cancer treatments and the family is in need of prayers. They are in the Chattanooga area, but I’ve been asked to leave names out of it, because we don’t know if the family wants it broadcast. The Lord will know. Thanks!

Predictions......?

Out of curiosity I'm about to test 215m primers against known loads with 210m primers.

Predictions ?

More fps with same load as 210m s ? The same fps ? Reach max load with less powder with 215m s. E.S better, worse ,or about the same.?

6 cm , Nosler brass 8th firing not annealed , SuperF 42.0 to max (to be determined) ,115 DTAC coated ",on lands " ( 43.0 is max with 210m @ 2950fps ave.)

Speak now or forever hold yo peace
Will report findings ,when I have them

SOLD Autotrickler V4

Good morning gents, I put an order for both an autotrickler V4 (Trickler / scale ) and a supertrickler last year and as my luck would have it they happen to both be ready.

Seeing if anyone would be interested in the Autotrickler V4 before I cancel that order since I’m planning to stick with the supertrickler.

Springfield Waypoint—an owner's story of disappointment and abject failure

Hi all, I've posted about this rifle before on here, but wanted to put together a story for anyone interested in this rifle. Here's the link to the original thread and the more exhaustive one on long range hunting. The TLDR version is this: do NOT buy this rifle. It does not perform as advertised and is liable to fail you.

My rifle has been to Springfield twice, has spent over 5 months at their facilities, and still suffered a catastrophic failure by the second box of ammo.

Here's the story. I bought my Waypoint 6.5 Creedmoor with the carbon barrel. After 150-200 rounds of 1.5-2 MOA from match ammo, I sent it back to them to fix the accuracy issues. 8 weeks later, they sent me the same rifle back with a new barrel. They didn't tell me why they replaced the barrel other than their tech said it just "didn't look right."

The first time the rifle came back, it shot within their ¾ MOA guarantee when ice cold. However, on the second or third string of fire, it would open up to the 1.5 MOA of the last barrel. I sent it back a second time. After some back and forth with the Springfield warranty department, they agreed to send me a brand-new rifle in 6.5 PRC. Great, a brand new rifle to start fresh from… or so I thought.

After over 14 weeks at their facilities, Springfield sent me the brand new 6.5 PRC rifle. I shot a grand total of 24 rounds through the rifle before the firing pin sheared off at the tip. Attached are pictures of the firing pin sheared off. Poor heat treating and metal quality.

Springfield's lack of ability to get the basic things right is astonishing. An inaccurate precision rifle is not acceptable given what they ask for this rifle, but it is entirely unacceptable that they have an entire batch of new rifles out there with firing pins ready to break. Imagine sinking all the time and money into a hunting trip for your rifle to go click when it's supposed to go boom. I will never purchase another product from this company again.
