Help with overpressure...

Hi all ! I need a little help to figure this out. We're developing a load with new powder we haven't used previously, so we did a test fire using nominal load from manufacturer on two different SIG ARs. One was totally normal and the other one shows signs of overpressure (cratered primers, enlarged primer pockets, bolt head marks on case head).

Why is this happening on a single rifle and not both ? Could be related to headspace issues ? Lubricant seeping into the chamber ? Any ideas ?

Places You've Worked But Are Now Shut Down

I'll start this off with Kopper's. I worked in the Large Casting Foundry right out of high school. The dirties, hottest job on the face of the earth. Once the molds were poured on the daylight shift, we came in and emptied the molds and set the casting on rail car. The casting were so hot, a few of the guys would cook their lunch on them. The casting sand got everywhere. Every part of your body would be covered in it. A mask was mandatory or you'd be dead within the week. I left there as soon as I could and went to work for Amtrak. Best move I could have made.

Koppers shut down that facility and moved everything to Erie PA where that foundry shut down, I've been told. I don't know if they are still in business but all I can say is good riddance.

SOLD Schmidt & Bender 3-12x50

The scope came with an AI AW, like new as well as the rifle, CW, MRAD, P4FL reticle (I assume), AI turrets, no scratches on the lenses.
AI mount and caps are included.
A cool collectible scope, especially, if you have AW / AWSM rifles.
$1860 shipped.

Big scratch in barrel?

I have a proof carbon barrel in 6GT and it started shooting worse than it usually does. I figured it was dirty, which it was, so I started with my normal barrel cleaning routine which consists of Patch-Out, Accelerator and nylon brushes. I use a quality cleaning rod and bore guide as well.

After cleaning, I go in with a bore scope just to see what things look like and I noticed a pretty big scratch from the freebore all the way about 2/3 down the barrel I have never seen before. It stays on the same groove of rifling the whole way.

Obviously only way to tell if affects shooting is to shoot it after cleaning, but curious as to what may have caused it.

Only thing I can think of is maybe a stainless bead from wet tumbling?

I'm really hoping this isn't what is causing this barrel to shoot poorly....

AR tuning gurus….need your help.

I own an LMT CQB.

It came with the standard 16 inch or so carbine barrel.

I came across a sweet 20 inch stainless steel barrel in the PX and bought it. I have probably fired 1000 rounds through it. Shoots great.

Any way, last night while cleaning the rifle I note a ghost imprint of the back of the gas key on the top of my lower receiver at the buffer tube.

May have been there since I fired my first round on the rifle.

I don’t like it.

Last thing I want to do is beat my lower or shear off the gas key.

Gas block on the twenty inch barrel is slightly forward of the 16 inch barrel gas block by maybe an inch, just enough to have it sit past the end of the quad rail. The sixteen incher is in the quad rail IIRC.

I’m thinking the extra gas going through the tube before the bullet exits the barrel is causing this.

Liking the twenty inch barrel but not liking the impact on the lower receiver.

Perhaps a heavier buffer or spring but What might do is cut the twenty to 18 inches which is what I really wanted for a barrel….hmmmm.
