The First Lady

I'm not giving this the movie theater tag because it's a series that just started. So far I've watched the first 2 episodes and I am hooked! It's being streamed on Showtime and also on Prime. This first season is all about Michelle Obama, Betty Ford, and Eleanor Roosevelt. I personally don't care if it's historically accurate or not because it's entertaining. You all should give the first episode a shot and see if you're hooked too.

Stupid Fudd range rules?

It has come to my attention that there are ranges with really stupid rules? Having been born and raised in Wyoming, 90% of my shooting has been public lands, ie not a range. Now that I live in Cheyenne, very little public lands, it necessitated that I join a range, out west of town is a great outdoor range with the common basic and logical rules. Lots of handgun, shotgun and rifle bays with steel to 1000. Zero issues.

But I just read some really stupid stuff that happens at other ranges? Shooting speed limit? Must be trained at the range to carry that gun while at the range? Must listen to some Fudd boomer line Nazi on whatever he decides is relevant? What country do you guys live in?

And I want to hear your best/worst stories and rules. Go.

I’ve got a nomad L, and my current threaded rifles are:

223 tikka and a 10.5, 14.5 and 20” A4

I’m looking at the sandman s, but the price of the yhm resonator is appealing. Also considering the regular nomad, because I like the L so much.

I’m just not sure how tough the nomad is compared to the sandman. I highly doubt I’ll ever be out doing 10 mag dumps, but with the way the world is, who knows

SOLD March 3-24x52 FML-TR1H Scope LNIB

Here's another of my "save the children" for sale items (no, this is not some charity for kids in foreign countries, this is for my own kids :D) just need to sell a bunch of stuff to help them out during these hard times, as such I'm not looking for any trades, just cash. I've had to rethink what I "need" and what can go so keep an eye out for future items I put up for sale.

This is basically an open box item, I only took out the scope to take pictures of it, has never even been mounted so in like new condition.

March 3-24x52 with illuminated FML-TR1H reticle, this is an "enhanced" version of ILya's reticle but with a circle of death making it much more usable at low magnifications. D24V52FIML

SOLD. Paypal FF, MO or check.

Here are some through the scope images I took with another scope I recently had to give an idea of how the reticle looks at 3x and at 20x. Yes, the quadrant does illuminate along with the center cross. Do not mind the blur on the edges, this is much more pronounced due to my inability to get behind the scope perfectly parallel to the FFP image with my camera, the reticle to the eye looks sharper.

Shtf barrel

So I'm building out a SHTF/ home D/ plinking AR15.
My new upper build is pretty much all set, except for a barrel. I was looking at criterion core barrels, but they are almost a 6 month wait. So I started looking at larue stealth or predator.

I have an aero upper with a BA government profile barrel, and I hate it. However the overall weight seems good. larue stealth is a little heavier but the weight is dispersed better in my opinion. Would the profile make manuraverability better than a gov profile?

Any suggestions on another brand of reasonably priced barrels? If I'm shooting prone or trying for groups I'd still like it to be MOA or better if possible. Looking for a 14.5 or 16 inch. Thanks

Can it be called Jellomold without grapes in it?

Since this is apparently a thing...

Can Jellomold exist without grapes in it? Or will it cause a Lutheran Reformation if someone makes it without grapes?

I mean... it's a pressing question.... Considered with wine, usually. Pressing. Wine? Get it?

Beyond maximum loads...Berger 185 gr. Juggernaut in 308

The rifle is a Remington 700 Varminter stock rifle...1:10 twist...26" fluted barrel. I want to work up a long range load for the Berger Juggernaut 185 grain bullets. I'll be loading Lapua brass with Federal Match primers. Seating depth YTBD. I have H4895, IMR 4895, IMR 4064 and Varget.

I understand that reloading manuals have upper limits on charge weight for liability reasons amongst other things. And I understand that no one is going to casually tell me to go beyond those limits. I'm doing some searches to get some idea about loads and see lots of folks who are exceeding Berger manual limits..

For example, with Varget, the Berger manual says that 41.6 gr. is their maximum load. But that is also an approximate maximum velocity of 2535 which might be a little slow to reach out to longer range targets. With the four powders mentioned above, the maximum velocity is from 2532 to 2604.

Then I run across the guy who says he's worked up to 44.2 grains of Varget with the Juggernaut (Lapua brass). That's a LOT more powder than the manual offers for the maximum charge.

Obviously one will look for pressure signs along the way but...do I need to be a good boy and stay below the maximum loads according to the manual (H4895 is 40.5, IMR 4064 is 41, IMR 4895 is 41.5 and again, Varget is 41.6)? Or can I start close to that maximum load and work beyond it?

I'd rather not load a bunch of rounds that I'll just have to take apart if I start seeing pressure signs right away while shooting at the range that is a half hour away.

And if anyone has their own pet loads for the Juggernaut for 308, I'd love to hear them.
