Coyotes +6, Martha Stewart 0

Six "large and aggressive" coyotes had dinner last night on Martha and ate six of Martha Stewart's peacocks including Blue Beauty. Martha must had them penned up, stupid. Peacocks are good on security detail on a large place if allowed to run free and roost, although they do scream way too much for my liking. Always interesting to see a well planned covert operation go down inside the wire ...

16” ultralight SAUM caliber choice?

Stewing over another ultralight build and will be specing it out with a 16” barrel for those final ounces.
This will be a sheep hunting rifle and as such still needs a max effective range in the 800 yard range with plenty of energy on target, because a wounded animal can be extremely expensive in the sheep world.
Rifle will be based off of a SA platform and a full custom so twist rate is infinitely adaptable.
I accept torching the throat on the barrel is the cost of doing business. If I get 700is rounds out of it I’ll be happy.

The low hanging fruit says a 6.5PRC with a monolithic in the 130s that can handle the thrust needed to get to a decent speed in 16” is a logical choice.
Also a 7saum with a similar bullet in the 140s seems to fit the build.

Am I missing any obvious choices?
Wildcatting is not an option. Premium brass in the appropriate head stamp is a must.

Independent voters...WTF?

This is just a rant and something that has bewildered me for a while now. Who the fuck are these so-called "independent voters"? I've never met one. And I cannot fathom the mentality of these people. To me, they stand for nothing, blow with the political winds, and are easily swayed. I guess it's because I'm a die-hard conservative and have been since I was old enough to realize what politics is. I've always realized that liberals/leftists, and now all Democrats, are the antithesis of everything I stand for and believe. I would sooner be drawn and quartered than ever consider voting for one. Yet their are apparently people that are willing to vote for a conservative in one election, and be swayed to vote for a liberal the next time. And these wishy-washy people are the ones that decide our elections? I don't get it

New toy.........Armalite AR10 National Match

I recently purchased a new old stock Armalite AR10 National Match rifle in the box that was built back around 2012 before the company was bought and moved to Arizona. It is threaded and has a flash hider and came with a lot of extra stuff. I have had a bunch of Armalite rifles over the years and I have always been a fan of them, the older models. I had intentions of changing out the trigger but the factory NM trigger is really decent. I still will more than likely buy a custom trigger to have on hand. Barrel is a 10 twist and 20 inches long. With the way things are going I am thinking of buying another 1 of these new in the box just to store away. Receiver fit is as tight as it comes on this and was happy it did not have a bunch of or a little wiggle in it.

It came with a factory black nylon sling to use on it. I need some help on where I can find a top of the line leather sling for it or some companies that I can check out that make some nice stuff.

I thought vehicles prices were supposed to drop with the banks getting pissy about loans

Anyone seen any of that where they live?

Our local Ram, Ford and Toyota have inventory but think that their car is worth 10% over retail. Will still not budge.

The guys in Carlsbad and Roswell that were straight have zero inventory.

Auctions are full, our local El Paso lot was really full.

Where are all these trucks going?

What is your funniest trigger that gets someone butthurt on the Hide?

It is a Saturday night on the Hide, so let's have some fun. I will start:
The best way to trigger butthurt is to head over to the Accuracy International thread and post
"My Savage precision rifle is more operator, more combat and more gun than your 10k AI. So you can take your A.I and suck on my Savage's muzzle break."

Post that and sit back with your popcorn in hand...

I know you guys have more savage(pun intended) triggers, so please share. :)

Soylent what?

So forget disguising cannibalism with Soylent Green; it appears that the media is beginning to normalize eating people. Saw the article below today, which talks about various cannibalism scenes in TV shows, books, etc. In my opinion they are beginning to groom people into accepting taking a bite out of your neighbor.

Give it a couple of years, you'll be hearing them say, "Oh, grandma died of covid? Don't worry, if you cook her well she's safe to eat."

Shocked!

It’s shocking and almost unbelievable the number of PX adds selling guns people have supposedly never shot.

It’s often “I’m the second owner of (insert whatever kick ass gun that everyone would love to shoot) but never fired it. The original owner said it has less than 200 rounds and is a tack driver.”
It’s always 200 rounds for some reason and “shoots lights out” or “is a tack driver” but lack any pics of targets.

I can sort of understand scopes “only mounted, never fired” because I buy a lot to try out, although I actually use them to try them out.

Is this an investment thing, total bullshit or something else. Please enlighten me. 🤣🍻
