$1k for best 22lr rifle help

900-1k budget for 22lr.

I do not want to spend more than $900- 1k total to have the rifle in my hands ready to shoot. I have rings and scope already.

Leaning towards b-14r right now. Only 2 must haves are threaded barrel and LOP needs to be at least 14.25 but prefer a little more. Don't care if it's heavy and don't mind used. I don't mind piecing together

Thanks

What the heck is going on at Bench Rest Rifle Club of St. Louis?

If you're local to the St. Louis metro you've probably heard of Bench Rest Rifle Club of St. Louis. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about drama happening- what the heck is going on there? I've heard stories of members getting kicked out and saw this link of a site dedicated to sharing the members side: https://betterbenchrestboard.com/

Just when you thought Cali couldn't get more F'd Up!

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/california-proposal-double-taxes

Check out the tax rates Democrats want to impose. Illegals will get free health insurance and you get to pay for it. I guarantee you this shit will pass and Gavin will only be too happy to sign it.

When do the sane people still in Cali say enough is enough, the war is lost? Nothing is going to turn that shit hole around, nothing. Democrats have made it a one party state. This is what Democrats nationally want for the whole country, make no mistake about it.

Night Vision Pixels on Target Voodoo-S “Official” Horta Review and Other Stuff Thread

It was supposed to be here last week and I was hoping to have a full weekend to do some REAL testing, but the Evil Fargin’ Bastages over at FedEx have completely lost the concept of what “Priority Overnight” means. Hence, The Precious (the official name of the Voodoo-S, if you hadn’t figured that out already) just arrived this morning — ruining what was otherwise intended to be a glorious weekend.

So… without further adieu, some faux toes of My Little Pony:

Upon arrival, a number of other thermals surrounded The Precious while still in his amniotic sac. There was a LOT of butt-sniffing going on.

The Skeets were nervous, almost as if sensing that their years of monopoly may be coming to and end. One Skeet ran and hid behind his Big Brother (UTM-x) and suckled up to Big Momma (hiding behind a black elipse). The other Skeet was much more inquisitive, but was a little skittish.

Side-by-side, The Precious is both larger and heavier than Skeet, as you can clearly see, even though the Skeet-X has been around for about 7-8 years now and is based upon older 17um technology, whereas The Precious is built around the latest-generation 12um Military Series sensor. That said, The Precious packs a whole suite of MILnet tech inside that Skeet lacks entirely. Most of that tech will never be used by the CIV market but, like Prego Spaghetti Sauce, it’s in there.

While both units clearly share the same Oasys DNA, and fulfill a similar mission envelope, there are considerable differences — some where Skeet is the clear winner and others where The Precious drops the hammer.

Those differences, and many more faux toes, coming soon!!!

Firearms SOLD 223 AI trainer/varmint rifle

Started out as a Bergara premier in 6.5 creedmoor. Switched it over to 223 Ackley to practice with on the cheap and shoot varmints with. Ran 80.5 Berger FB with great success. There is some maring on the barrel nut from swapping barrels. You can get a new barrel nut from preferred for about $35 if that’s important to you.
Sits in a KRG bravo with a Henderson precision long arca rail. Trigger tech diamond pro curve (can swap it for a TT special to adjust the price) seekins 20 MOA rail, 223 bolt and the original 308 bolt if you wanted to add additional calibers to it later.
Vortex LHT 4.5-22 mrad sitting on top in Hawkins medium height, lightweight rings with the side bubble top for easier checking on level.

Wanting to keep it all together as a package if possible.

Rifle: $1100
Scope: $1300
Whole package: $2250 if it gets bought all together

Accuracy leaving with worn brass?

I loaded and shot a very narrow ladder (8 rds) as I knew the approximate range I wanted to be in. This brass has been shot a lot during testing. I've re-used the sames cases instead of cracking into my cache of new brass. As I primed them, I discarded 2 cases and said this is the last loading on the other 6. Primer pockets weren't totally loose but not as snug as I like. I substituted 2 new cases and charges them with the 1st 2 increments. I'm only increasing charge weights by .1 as I'm pretty locking into a specific charge range. The 1st 2 rounds at 300 yds went into the same hole then when I hit the used brass they opened way up and moved up and left. I've shot enough ladders to have seen a lot of things happen with barrel harmonics but it really got me wondering if the last 6 were the cause of just flat out worn brass. I'm going to re shoot the 6 with new brass but has anyone seen something like this? Rifle is 6.5 SAUM/GAP and is a hammer.

Accessories TacOps drag bags(sold)

I have two a large camo and an old green XL.
sold plus whatever shipping is.
Both excellent, really never used.
Thanks
Greg

Rifle Scopes Weird phenomena with my scope

I was shooting today and had a strange thing happen that I haven't had happen like this before. It was about 38 degrees and a light rain btw ... I should also note that I have a sun shade with an ARD device on it. I also just about always shoot suppressed as I was today.

So anyway, I was shooting and had shot probably 5 or 6 ish groups, waiting 5 minutes between groups. So I go to start a new group and I shoot. My scope got all brownish yellow on the right hand side, like around the edge but the whole sight picture got dim as well. It looked sort of like smoke on the glass. It went away after I'd shot a little more and then didn't happen again.

It was fine after that, and I don't see how any smoke could have gotten on the glass, nor did I wipe the glass ever, as I have a sun shade and ARD device.

Just curious if anyone had experienced this before?

Seeking input on accuracy expectations on a Proof carbon prefit barrel for 300 PRC

Hello all,

Put together my rifle a couple of months back. Specs are as follows:

Bighorn TL3 LA
MDT ACC chassis
Triggertech diamond 2 stage
Area 419 hellfire brake
Proof Research carbon prefit barrel chambered in 300 prc (26" with 1:9 twist).

The issue I have been having is that I cannot get it to group. I shot it with my reloads (225 eld-m, ADG brass, 75 grain of H1000). Groups I was getting was around 1.5" to 3" at 100 yards.

I reached out to Proof and they responded by saying that I they do not guarantee anything with handloads. This led me to go on a long search for factory ammo.

I was able to locate two boxes of Hornady 225 ELDM factory ammo and took it to the range today. Results were exactly the same. Cannot get anything better than 1.5" at 100 yards.

So I was wondering if this kind of accuracy is to be expected? I really hope not as it would be kind of disappointing to have a brand such as Proof do so badly in accuracy.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

P.S., everything was torqued to spec and double/tripple checked. Action screws, scope mounting screws, scope rail screws, and barrel.

MDT is awsome

I ,like others on here jumped all over their black Friday deals. I ordered a buttstock and a ACC chassis base at a really good price. The buttstock shipped right away but I received an email stating the base was over sold but since it was their mistake on the web site they would honor the price and ship me a new one but it would be a 12 week wait. I thought Great it will be summer before I see that. Nope it came Friday well under 12 weeks. I now have an ACC Chassis.
"The ACC chassis " with integrated arca rail , Integrated thumb rest, integrated barricade stop. My mags lock up so tight not sure I need the stop but yes it is an awesome design. Tooless adjustment on the SRS buttstock. I lay my head down behind the scope turn the thumb wheel awe perfect, lock it down. My next step will be to add some weights to get the balance perfect.
I first shot a ACC chassis attached to a vudoo from a good representative of MDT. I thought man that is awesome. I knew it was " the" best chassis. I always wanted one and would have one. The black Friday deal made that sooner. Thanks MDT.
