Short barrel wind deflection

I built a 16.25” 6.5 creedmoor recently to hunt suppressed with. It’s mostly a 0-400tops rifle but I’ve been enjoying shooting it out past 600 as well.

I’ve been “struggling” with wind having a larger effect than my wind call more often than usual. I understand my kestrel is only reading a moment of time where I am, and I am looking at wind indicators that I can find downrange in the middle and at target.

I just feel like more often than before in my shooting life im seeing a wind call that turns out to be significantly higher than I called it.
Is it that my bullet is going slower than im used to out past 600 so what wind snags it out there has a greater divergence of the path than im used to? Is it that the bullet is going higher in the air/further in the air?

It’s not horrifically off. but it’s let’s say maybe I’ve got a .4mrad left hold from my solver, but I end up adding .2mils correction after spotting. Is this something I’m ignorant on concept wise or am I simply noticing I suck at calling wind

Load is 143gr @2430.

A little help concerning a military discharge

My son is 17, he has a friend who is 18. I’ve been around the kid a little and he struck me as a little socially awkward but no big deal. So the kid joined the military and reported in May, and 6 weeks later he’s back. He said they found some kind of court issue from when he was 14 and discharged him. I might just be being paranoid but the only thing I knew of that could get you kicked out that fast was a section 8 or a medical, and if he’s too crazy for the military I question if I want him around my kid, not to mention I take him with us to the range occasionally. Is his story remotely plausible? I’ve known guys that signed up to get out of a charge, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the military kicking a recruit for something as a minor, and it couldn’t have been that bad or I would have heard about it 4 years ago.

Colin Kaepernick Says He Partnered with Marxist Editors Because ‘Black Liberation Simply Isn’t Possible Under Capitalism’

Former NFL second-string quarterback and professional social justice warrior Colin Kaepernick now claims he had to team up with avowed Marxists to edit his new black studies anthology book because “black liberation simply isn’t possible under capitalism.”

The national anthem protesting former player is promoting the new book, Our History Has Always Been Contraband: In Defense of Black Studies, in which members of the grievance class rise to defend things like Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Critical Race Theory, and the like.

According to activist writer Indigo Olivier in The New Republic, Kaepernick worked with “two of the most prominent Black Marxists in the country,” and the writers in the book were anti-capitalists.

But Kaepernick explained his reasoning for working with hardcore Marxists.

“I’ve long admired Keeanga and Robin’s work as well as their uncompromising political analysis and understanding that Black liberation simply isn’t possible under capitalism,” Kaepernick said, Olivier reported. “I think the anthology makes this argument quite well, and I hope it challenges readers to see that racism is not white supremacy’s only ingredient. White supremacy persists in part because of its relationship with capitalism, heteropatriarchy, ableism, and so on.”

In her interview with the former San Francisco 49ers player, she insisted that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “doesn’t want you to read” the sort of things in Kaepernick’s book and asked his thoughts on the “GOP’s obsession with attacking Black Studies.”

“Black Studies and, more generally, a critical engagement with U.S. history, threatens the white supremacist status quo,” Kaepernick bloviated. “Any attempt to whitewash the past should actually be understood as a concrete step toward fascism and a desire to build a nation state where power is concentrated in the hands of a self-anointed (read: white) few. That said, I wouldn’t characterize GOP attacks on Black Studies as an ‘obsession’ but rather as core to their white supremacist political project.”

Kaepernick also insisted that white people must be exposed to his Marxist theories because it is an “absolute necessity in order for white people to support the Black freedom movement without unknowingly doing great harm in the process.”

This is all quite interesting coming from a man who is a multi-millionaire and nationally known through his connection to one of the most capitalist ventures in American society, the National Football League.

Vudoo miss feeds and rim lock....

Running a Vudoo 360 in a Foundation with a Hawkins bottom metal. The magazines a pretty snug in the metal and they all feed nice and smooth when just sitting on a bipod/bag. I did put some shims on each magazine to ensure they don’t rock back if I happen to load them accidentally on a barricade/bag.

Shot a match 2 weeks ago, had one issue with a miss feed but was able to clear it quickly and move on.

This past Saturday, I had massive problems with miss feeds, locked rounds and all around FUBAR with my magazines.

Running a polymer Vudoo mag and 2xL3I 13-round mags. Started the match fine using only the Vudoo with the L3I as backup. On stage 5, was shooting off a large boulder and was able to just run the bipod with a bag at the back (so like off a bench), using the L3I b/c it was a 12 round troop line and didn’t want to have to change mags. Get to round 9 and it locks…like the round locks as I cycled the bolt forward. Ejected the magazine, thought the round fell out, it didn’t was actually stuck halfway into the bore. Cleared it but timed out on the stage. Frustrating.

Next stage, went back to the Vudoo, no issues (10-rounds). The next 3 stages, I had issues with every magazine (was changing around b/c they all kept misfeeding). At one stage when I ejected the Vudoo polymer mag that locked up, when I picked up that magazine after the stage was over, I had to get a small screwdriver to unlock the round. It was like it was rimlocked only worse. The round was almost completely flat instead of slightly nose up in the mag.

When got home, I played with the mags to see if I could figure out what was going on. I tried setting the rifle on a table with bipod and bag, put on the safety and cycling the bolt to watch it pick up and eject rounds. No issues. Everything ran very smooth. Then I loaded each mag, put my bag against a table, loaded weight onto magazine at the bag and tried everything I could think of to make it missfeed. No issues. I even set the rifle on the bag ON the magazine, again no misfeeds.

At a loss here. Could the heat of the day and firing the gun cause issues with some thermal expansion somewhere locking things up.

Am I not cycling the bolt smoothly or with enough force to eject a round, and then smoothly going forward?

I clean the chamber and bolt and mag well after every range session and it does not look dirty.

NEW PROJECT: M1915 Howell Automatic Rifle Enfield Conversion

My next project is the M1915 Howell semi-auto conversion of the British SMLE. The weapon was reliable with the gas piston on the right side of the gun but not ergonomic for the user as the force of the recoiling bolt interfered with handling and since the gun was dramatic when fired. Similar conversions were the South African Rieder and Charlton of New Zealand origin which had full automatic capability. During early World War II when supplies were low, some Howell rifles were issued to the Home Guard. My plan is to utilize the gas system from the FAL L1A1. I intended to use modified BREN gun magazines.

Now we know

Seems the parent company of Anheuser-Busch, InBev, knew exactly what they were thinking, intentionally planning to destroy Bud Light and possibly Anheuser-Busch in general

Copied from the Fox News web page.

When the company was bought over by InBev, a lot of things changed when it was owned by Anheuser-Busch. You know, it’s an American brand," the whistleblower remarked.

He explained that the company previously offered many benefits prior to its purchase by InBev. Through the fall in sales for the Bud Light brand, the former employee stated that the corporation could restructure both employee benefits and its company standards through layoffs and renegotiating contracts.

"Bud Light has been failing for many years. We’ve talked about that for many years. The numbers of just, you know, little by little deteriorated. And it feels like they said, ‘Let’s put this nail in the coffin,'" he said. "Now we have a lot of layoffs, a lot of loss in production. It would be easy for them to restructure, let’s say, pay or contracts."

So, lets kill off this company, escape form the employee benefits we inherited when we purchased the company and head off into the happy hunting ground with one more Kill to our credit. - Life of the corporate raiders.

InBev

(special note, if this has already been discussed, just let me know and I’ll delete the stuff. I’m not a beer drinker anyway, but I hate to see the destruction of an American brand, even if the destruction is speculation).

50yds

Hi all.
Here's the thing.......
Shoot me down, call me stupid etc, I dont really care, but I could do with some help.

Have a scope that measures 1/8' per click, yeah, its a fine un to be fair.
The rifle has a 25MOA Picatinney rail.

What I would like to do is, set the scope at a minimum of 50yds and a maximum of 100yds
so say 75yds would be smack bang in the middle of the turret adjustments (up n down)

So my question is this, is the 25moa rail enough for this, or do I need to make the adjustments on the scope rings first ?

Tripods and accuracy

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn’t immediately find an answer.

I’ve got a solid tripod for my spotting scope and have seen plenty of PRS type shooting from tripods. Considering an RRS anvil 30 and ARCA mount for a bolt action.

Presuming good fundamentals and plenty of experience with bipod and bag, what would be an expected accuracy level while shooting standing from a tripod after appropriate time getting acquainted?

Similar accuracy as bipod? 1,2,3 MOA from a .5 MOA rifle?

Accessories PRICE DROP $900--WTS/WTT: Manners PRS1 With Mini Chassis R700 inlet

Has the flush cups on both sides as well as a weightable ARCA rail with the built in mini chassis (no need for bottom metal). Has a 22” Varmit profile barrel in it right now with room on each side so should accept 1.25” straight but no info on what it was ordered with. Asking $900 shipped, also interested in trades for lighter weight stocks of the sameish style
