PRS Talk Do's and Don'ts when squading with "Pro" level shooters?

I'll be traveling to my first out-of-state Pro Series match this month. Squadding is pretty full and what's left have a good deal of top-level "Pros" left. I'm talking current Top-10 or shooters that are consistently placing at Pro series matches. For context, my best PRS Pro series finish was 70%....so it's honestly a bit intimidating.

So here's my question: What do I need to know about squadding with these Pro? Any advice, unwritten rules, or best practices?

- Be ready when it's my turn: don't dick around for another 2-3 min loading mags and getting dope. Know the COF

- Be helpful: Spot, Shag brass, share equipment is needed

- Be responsible with questions: Read the room and know when to ask...somepeople have a rhythm...don't throw them off

- Be friendly

I have yet to meet an asshole yet while shooting...and likely Pros are totally cool...but I know these guys are competing for wins and prestige whereas I'm still competing to improve/get experience/have fun. I would hate to be "that guy" that Effs up something for someone else.

Kac dimpled barrels

Have a few sr25s im thinking about sending out to be cerekoted at ns armory. Is it worth it to get the barrels dimpled before i get them coated? Yes the dimples look cool but does it really offer any true advantages? Does it have a negative affect on accuracy? Does it actually cool the barrel that much faster, does it heat up much faster? Seems like it could be a pain to get clean after a dusty day shooting

Lets argue about the M24

I've been doing a mountain of investigation on the M24s and I can't find conclusive information on why the M24 has the Long Action receiver with a short action cartridge. So we might as well all argue about it!

In the blue corner;
The Long Action receiver is because the Army wanted a 300 Win Mag.

In the red corner;
The Long Action receiver is because the Army's standard sniper ammunition at the start of the project was the M72 30-06 ammunition which would have necessitated the long act receiver.

If anyone has any information supporting either stance, i'd love to hear it.

Thanks

Carso

Does this sound familiar ?

More than 2,000 residents were told to evacuate Tuesday afternoon after a large fire broke out at a recycling plant in Indiana, sending plumes of black smoke into the sky.

The fire broke out in the City of Richmond, which is about 70 miles east of Indianapolis and near Ohio’s western border.

From...

"The smoke is definitely toxic," said the Indiana State Fire Marshall on scene according to Fox 59.

"This fire is going to burn for a few days," he added.

I recently put together some custom titanium hardware for my Spuhr mount, and after an overwhelmingly positive response from members of the community in that thread I've decided to offer a few sets for sale.

Here is the thread for more information:

The screws (US Made) and cross bolts (UK Made) are Grade 5 Ti-Al6-V4 (titanium) with rolled threads. Because the Spuhr mount does not use hardware in sizes for the rings that are readily available in titanium, I turn these down on our lathe. Additionally, I decided to incorporate a flanged bolt for the cross bolts instead of the standard bolt and washer.

Benefits of this hardware are:
- Complete corrosion resistance
- Lighter weight
- Much deeper bit depth in the screw head
- Calculated to use the same lubricated torque specs as your standard hardware. A thread locker, lubricant, or Anti-seize should be used same as your steel hardware which comes from the factory with a dry film lube applied.
- More consistent pre-load. Because titanium is of a higher yield strength and lower Youngs Modulus compared to the steel in question, it will absorb more displacement (can elongate more, think of the screw as a spring) without the pre load changing. Pre load will vary under stress in any fastener, but far less in titanium compared to steel. Here that means less change in preload or opportunity for loosening as a result of recoil or vibration.

The Ultimate Action?

Didn’t see any threads too similar to this so I’ll ask away

I am planning out one of my dream gun builds and have come across a harder than expected decision; choosing an action.

I’ve heard great things about many action manufacturers, but the three that sounded the best to me were Defiance, Lone Star, and Impact Precision.

I plan to use this gun in a larger caliber, either .338 Lapua, .300 Rum, or one of the Normas.

It won’t see much mud or debris

It’ll be a long range rifle

Money is no factor. I want it to be as accurate as it can, even if I pay a premium

I plan to use Bartlein barrels

I have very little hands on experience with these actions nor will I be building this rifle anytime soon, so any advice, help, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Crazy Day

We have a couple of older vehicles that are basically taking up parking space and costing us insurance. So, I put this Dodge up for sale today on the local facebook market page. We purchased it new in 2003, sold it to our son in 2008, he gave it back to us when he purchased a new truck a couple years ago.

The truck looks nice but is high milage and is very close to being a project (bad 3rd member among other less major issues.…If you don’t know what a 3rd member is…..Look It UP!) Priced it accordingly by the book, bottom end of fair condition needs mechanical repair. ($2000.00). Tried to explain the issues in the ad. (Lost tract of how many times I had to explain what a 3rd member is).

I have lost count of the number of inquires. At least 15. I went up to the shop to load some 6GT, not a lot (70) when I came back, there were 9 more inquiries.

I am wondering, are people that desperate or is a 2003 Plain Jane Dodge half ton some kind of hidden gold mine or, new age cult vehicle?

Not sure what to do 700 5r

Gave $999 for it which I think is a pretty good deal. Now here comes the questin. I already have a 700 LTR 308 in manners with mark 5, jewell, atlas and a can that shoots amazingly well.
