Quality Junk Rifle... Kinda

Question for the Hide? I am feeling the need for a Semi-Auto in .308

I have the .556 and precision rifle and pistol stuff covered.

Do not need precision accuracy but good god I cant abide a shit shooter

Ammo will be primarily FGMM 168

Realistic range is 400 and in

Set and forget optic with at least 5mil ...no interest in dialing or repeatability

10x optic is plenty... could just as easily use 6 or 4

.

Optics Vudu 5-25

Great scope same as lowlight / Frank runs on his Vudoo trainer.

Selling to get something with less mag for hunting.

Priced cheap because I bought it from first owner , it has a ding in the objective that they didn’t disclose. I didn’t pull cap off and see till too late. Ding is minor it is way forward of the glass , seems like it is on a ring that may unscrew.

$975 shipped , insurance if wanted is on buyer

Superlative Arms adjustable gas block gas tube hole isn’t Milspec height?

I was chatting with one of my range buddies about a build I’m doing and I mentioned that I was probably going to use a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block.

“Dude, don’t. Those Superlative gas blocks have the gas tube hole higher than a milspec gas block which causes the gas tube to enter the upper receiver at a slight downward angle. That will cause the gas tube to rub a lot on the BCG gas key and wear out the gas tube and gas key super fast. The gas adjustment mechanism doesn’t allow them to place the gas tube hole at normal height so they shift it up slightly and hope people don’t notice.”

Is this true? If so, why doesn’t Superlative Arms make a gas tube with the proper bend for their gas block? I emailed Superlative Arms about this but received no response.

Is there a spray to add protection layer to over Cerakote?

Hello,

I just received the ACC Elite Chassis System in Titanium Blue.

I think that most of you are going to say just use it the way it is, but when I first get things, I like to baby my new stuff and take decent care of it.

For those that are like me, is there something that I can spray over it to give some added protection? Such as some sort of clear spray?

Legally, we should be able to shoot people like this just for genetic cleansing. Sounds a bit much, but then maybe you haven't seen the clip.....

Choosing a optic under $700

Hey guys I’m in a bit of a pickle choosing a scope for my new cz 22lr mtr and my wife will be getting a new 22 aswell.

Mostly shooting a little over 100 yards in the back yard but we also take the bigger rifles out to 700ish yards every now and then so I’d like to get scopes with similar reticles and adjustments.

I have an older Cronus 4.5-27 on my 6.5 and she has a pst gen 2 5-25
I have another rifle with a pst gen 2 5-25 aswell and I like it.

Now my initial thought was just get a couple more pst gen 2 but I started reading and lots of people recommended lots of other things over the pst gen 2

My current 22lr toy has a argos btr 6-24 and I have another one of those sitting here as my wife started with that on her big rifle but was not a fan as it wasn’t clear enough for her out at 600-700 yards. I don’t think Id buy another argos

I don’t love the Cronus because seems a bit sharp and not the best adjustments in my opinion.

Because I don’t shoot out to 1000y and my eyes aren’t very good the pst gen2 seems about the same as the Cronus. I’ll need to pull it out of the safe and let my wife compare she can probably tell me the truth

So in this price range what do you recommend the cheaper the better but I do still want a quality optic.

These gun will probably be my heaviest used guns since they are quite and easy to just grab and shoot. My savage mk2 with the argos gets beat on because we toss it around so everyone gets to shoot some.

Locking turrets are a plus but not necessary. A simpler reticle is also nice
Illuminated is also preferable for shooting at dusk. I should also mention we tend to like a lot of magnification but need a manageable optic. I had a razor gen2 4.5-27 and never mounted it or used it as it was just too big and didn’t make sense for me.

Hopefully there is enough info in this post

Auto shutoff cars.....how stupid.

I had this post up and going on another forum. Interested in seeing the point of view from the inmates here.

So have the wives car today, and at a stop the car will turn itself off. I HATE THIS FEATURE. First off if you are like what I think most of us are, the car turning off at a stop is something that happened far too often in the junk boxes I bet a great deal of us drove. Foot on the gas, clutch and brake is something that can be done to keep that clapped out hunk of junk running. So when this stupid thing turns off my heart will skip a beat. Push the little "A" button and that garbage stops.

But when you do it will still tell you your "MPG as it was".

.2 gallons per hour. Now math has never been my strength but let me try to figure this all out.

.2 GPH, that will be 5 hours of idle for me to use $3.18 worth of gas. FIVE HOURS.
.2 of an hour is 12 minutes....i think.... So I will use .2 of a gal every 12 minutes....ok lets flow with that.

According to google the average US stoplight is between 45 and 120 seconds. So lets say one minute.

I am going to stop here as this is just making me more and more angry. This is stupid. What is the wear and tear on the battery and starter. And then the costs on said battery and starter. All to save less gas then I spill when I fill up the lawn mower.

Canadian Folk Singer Gordon Lightfoot Dead at 84

Canadian folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot died in Toronto on Monday at the age of 84 after a long and storied career.
One of Canada’s most beloved artists having written songs that documented the country’s history and culture, the musician reportedly died at the hospital. Per the Associated Press (AP):
Considered one of the most renowned voices to emerge from Toronto’s Yorkville folk club scene in the 1960s, Lightfoot went on to record 20 studio albums and pen hundreds of songs, including “Carefree Highway” and “Sundown.”
Once called a “rare talent” by Bob Dylan, dozens of artists have covered his work, including Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Harry Belafonte, Johnny Cash, Anne Murray, Jane’s Addiction and Sarah McLachlan.
Most of his songs are deeply autobiographical with lyrics that probe his own experiences in a frank manner and explore issues surrounding the Canadian national identity.
Lightfoot rose to prominence with his 1970 hit “If You Could Read My Mind” and went on to create such classics like the 1975 song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” which commemorated the sinking of the bulk freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975.
“I simply write the songs about where I am and where I’m from,” he said. “I take situations and write poems about them.”
“I just like to stay there and be a part of the totem pole and look after the responsibilities I’ve acquired over the years,” he said in a 2001 interview.
“He was married three times and had six children,” noted the Washington Post. “Throughout his life, he struggled with alcoholism, had difficulty maintaining close relationships and revealed in a biography that he paid a price for letting his career take over his personal life. Ultimately he sobered up, married happily, and continued touring and writing songs into his 80s.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hailed Lightfoot following news of his death on Monday.
“We have lost one of our greatest singer-songwriters. Gordon Lightfoot captured our country’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped shape Canada’s soundscape. May his music continue to inspire future generations, and may his legacy live on forever. To his family, friends, and many fans across the country and around the world: I’m keeping you in my thoughts at this difficult time,” tweeted Trudeau.
