Posted here because the legit medical establishment has no credibility.....

Posted in the keto diet thread and might as well post it here because I have come to the conclusion that the establishment medical community has as much credibility as "The View".

So there I was Wednesday night...

My Mother In Law came over for her birthday and her brand of dementia has her thinking everyone on the TV is someone she knows and they were in Boston together, So I'm drinking a small work night glass of whiskey and listening to her say as Tucker Carlson speaks "He's a nice boy, he is in Boston now look, we did lots of things together" and I am disturbed by the possibilities of what she imagines they did together.

Than.......my back begins to hurt. Hurt like really uncomfortable.

I mention "Man my back hurts I'm done" knowing my wife is thinking "You fuck, you can't sit down here while my Mom has ice cream?"

So I go upstairs hop in the shower and think the pulsing of the hot water on my back feels really good because this is really uncomfortable.

Go in lay down in bed and think "Man if someone took a lance and stabbed it down just under my left rib cage and penetrated until it exited just where some lefty would appendix carry this is probably what that would feel like".

And it's not getting better.

So the pain gets to the point it actually makes me puke, and never having had that's happen before, I'm thinking this is going to end up in the hospital. My daughter having already texted Mom having heard me losing my guts which I admit can sound horrifying my wife is asking if she needs to come home from getting her mother settled back at the place.

I'm pretty sure by now this is a kidney stone, never had suffered one but have heard stories AND it's been kind of in the back of my mind eating a keto diet for some 4 or more years now.

Trip to Mass General, it's snowing out, every ambulance that comes in has some screaming homeless person complaining of being in pain level 10 and "needing something" while I sit stoically and suck it up.

Dumb move. I got there about 2230 and didn't get seen until 0330 because I wasn't in pain like the dudes that knew the game and got some meds and a warm bed.

So an intern sees me. I give her my suspicions. She says she will send the attending in and my wife and I sit for another half hour before I said fuck this and we left. I actually think the bumpy ride in on the snow covered roads may have been a helping factor as I started to feel better after leaving the car.

Now last night I'm getting ready to go to bed, taking the night leak, everything's going swimmingly when all of a sudden "squib round"! Couldn't stop the piss if I wanted to most times but now the water works are shut down, sudden burning, build up of propellant pressure and suddenly "6.5 manbun".

IMG_0659.JPG

Standard size napkin for reference. Yes I reached in through the piss to pick it out because curiosity wasn't going to let that projectile not be scrutinized.

So what do keto peeps think? Cause of the diet? Result of my 12 oz a day coffee habit.

Sadly I've become more sedentary over the last year, PT is about a 30 minute per day total now and most of the day is chair bound. I probably drink two nalgene 32 ouncers of water a day.

Any keto dieter advice for avoiding kidney stones?

Don't want to stop eating this way as I feel good and the food is so good.....

March or S&B - i can't decide...

Hi!

I'm looking into replacing my March 1-10x24 with something with a bit more magnification. The intended use is target shooting (paper) at 100 & 300m and the occasional session on steel at 200 (for which the 10x is just fine). You may say 10x is plenty for that, however i'm used to high magnification optics. The rifle in question is an HK MR223 (16.5" barrel). 95% of the time i'm shooting off a bag or bipod. Weight is not too big of a concern to me.

I've narrowed my choices down to the March-FX "Wide Angle" 4.5-28x52mm and the Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 PM II.

The March with the new Shuriken turrets is just sexy and maybe more suited to an AR due to it's smaller size, but it's also more expensive than the S&B. Though the S&B seems "oldschool" nowadays. On the other hand it has a reputation of being build like a tank.

Any input? Thoughts? Maybe something else i've overlooked in that price range?

The Bubba that could?!?! A free to me Mosin….

1940 Mosin Nagant Tula, 7.62X54R… cut down to 19.24”, threaded 5/8x24 with 10deg target crown . Looks like M1A style scope Mount was added with the side of the receiver drilled and tapped. Pro Mag Archangel stock. Took it on a trade with other items to help out a fellow brother. Should I throw some glass on it and buy some ammo from PSA? Anyone else have one of these monstrosities?
Maybe fuck around and find out? Hahaha

On Barrel Cleaning with Erik Cortina - ROFLMAO!

Funniest comment I've heard about barrel cleaning - ever!

Erik was interviewing Chase Stroud (big ELR guy) on a podcast, a really informative one where they actually go into ELR with .22 rimfire. And they briefly diverged into barrel cleaning. They both clean to bare metal every time.

Erik made a short comment for the ages! I posted the video ~20-seconds before his short statement. Erik said, and to paraphrase: "....Treat them like your ASS. If you use it clean it!" :ROFLMAO:.

The part at the end is about rimfire loved that part 'cause I'm in the process of building one, and all of it is good for that matter. it was quite interesting, as ELR has implications to all shooting. Tip of the sword tech when it comes to shooting. I actually enjoyed the whole podcast.

Here's the video - queued to Erik's comment:

Peterson Virgin Brass Pressure Signs

New to Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor SRP brass. Picked up a couple boxes and thought i'd fireform it first with some Hornady 140 gr i have available.

I shot 10 and started seeing what looked like pressure signs, though I could be wrong (first time trying Peterson brass). I stopped after these initial firings just to be sure, and inspect.

Shoulders grew 0.004
Gordon Reloading Tool warns of pressure >40 grains.

My question is: has anyone experienced similar results using Peterson brass, or with virgin brass? I plan on dropping the charge on the remaining cases and seeing how they do.

Details:
Brass: (0x fired - Virgin) Peterson 6.5 CM SRP
Powder: 38 gr H4350
Bullet: 140 ELD-M Hornady
Primer: Federal 205

CBTO: 2.203
Case length average: 1.912
Peterson reported average case volume (H2O): 50.6 grains

Brass Prep:
Tumbled
FL resized to fix necks (no change to shoulder)
Chamfered & deburred

Help with Defiance Action Feed Problems

I built up a Defiance AnTi short action with the following components: Proof barrel 6.5CM, Hawking Hunter DBM, and Manners LRH. I'm having some problems with feeding.

I've measured the distance to lands as approximately 2.877 COAL with Hornady ELD-M 147gr. I decided to load approximately .020 off the lands with a COAL of 2.860". I have two magazines; a Hawkins Hunter 4rd mag and an Accurate Mag 6.5CM binderless.

The problem is, with these 2.860" COAL rounds, the subsequent rounds hang up below the feed ramp in both mags. From my research, the problem appears to be that I either 1) need my feedramp notched or 2) I need to reduce my COAL and use binder plate mags. Am I understanding this correctly? Interestingly, with shorter factory ammo I've tried (Hornady ELD-X 143gr COAL 2.815), there doesn't seem to be any problems as the shorter COAL allows the bullet to pass the lip of the feedramp. What I am not understanding is that the problem is also happening with the Hawkins Hunter Mag which states a max COAL of 2.880". This seems in line with binder plate mags (2.870" COAL with MDT binder plate mag). This makes me wonder if a binder plate mag would actually be a solution to the problem? Feeling inside the mag, the ledge of the feedramp feels more than .01" but obviously that isn't conclusive.

If I wanted to notch the feedramp, what gunsmith is a good option? It seems like a very simple job, but not one I would want to try myself. I really really want to keep using the Hawkins Hunter Mag since it is very nice having flush fit for hunting. As such, simply buying binderless mags seems like an easier but less desirable option.

PRS Talk PRS Tactical 308

Do many shoot PRS Tactical 308?

Little background: Used to shoot some F Class when I got out of the military. Got busy with kids and other things and now wanting to get into PRS Tactical. Always been a big hunter and love shooting. I'm not looking to climb a leaderboard, I just want to get out there and have fun, learn and get better each time, when time allows me to hit a match.

I currently have a 24" Criterion 1/10" twist in an XLR Element Chassis. I have a Vortex HST 4-16 on it currently. Had it setup this way the last few years just for fun, some target shooting and killing a few coyotes. Going to sell that Vortex and possibly get a Athlon Ares 4.5-30x56. I can get that for around $1k.

Used to shoot 178 AMAX over Varget in F Class with this barrel in a different stock. What bullets would you recommend? 175 SMK, 178 ELDM?

Again, just wanting to get into the sport using quite a bit of what I already have, but mainly upgrading the optic.

Thanks for any tips or advice.

What barrel vises will open to hold a 1.5” OD suppressor?

I have had a viper vise for over a decade and it has served me well but I’ve got a couple suppressors that are converted to omega mounts that need to be torqued in and I periodically remove and trying to do it with soft jaws sucks.

Does anyone make a good barrel vise that will accommodate 1.5” diameter suppressor? Ideally with enough room for a then piece of leather for protection as well. Something that’s quicker and easier to tighten down than the viper would be nice too.

End of an Era - Farewell Super Hornet

If you don't think the Left would mass exterminate Trump supporters...

Joy Behar on The View said the toxic train derailment town had it coming because they voted for Trump.

It's right under the surface. And they call Trump Hitler.

Smartest thing the Left has done EVER

This is actually great logic. If the fetus is a person, then they can't be unjustly incarcerated no matter what the mother does......... It is awesome.
