Beginner long range wannabe. I have my 1st precision rifle. Bergara Mg Lite 6.5C with a Leupold Mark V 56mm objective. FFL put on a 20 MOA rail for clearance, but at the scope’s dead zero vertical setting, it’s 8-9” high @ 100yds. I have a bench and everything to adjust the scope, but don’t know what to do or if it can be done. I use the bench for my family’s hunting rifles to shoot to ~300 yds.
I’m wanting to work my way up to 800yds+ over time for fun, and thought I’d get it dialed in at 100yds then work my way up from there. Am I wrong with this line of thinking? Should I just zero at 200 or 300 and go or move the rings to get the scope up? If you think moving the rings is possible, should I spread them out or bring them in? There’s 1.5-2” of space between each ring and the farthest point on the scope. Any tips are appreciated.

Hey all! Might be a stupid question but I’d rather ask & be sure. I was letting family shoot my 16” Tikka .308 when I noticed these embers burning in the air around the barrel after the shot I suspect it might be unburnt powder? The rifle was clean having only 11 rounds down the barrel after a clean, Ammo used federal smk 168 gr so clean burning by my experience with it, I’ve never seen this before so any input would be much appreciated thanks!

I'm looking at doing some local prs and nrl hunter matches. There is a new range with matches going up like 20 min away figured I would try it. I'm looking at a cheaper rifle that will do well for me and hopes of just shooting factory ammo.

Right now I run a arc nucleus gen 2 LA whiskey 3 gen 6 but that rifle is setup for the nightforce and weighs 23 pounds. So looking for something lighter and less recoil I shoot a 30 nosler.

Options- just grab a different barrel for my Arc and run it hard to come by 10 rd mags in the long action.

Get a light short 30 nosler barrel and deal with recoil

Or maybe get a bergara aero solus rifle ect. And shoot factory ammo

Hey guys, so I’ve read through here quite a bit as well as on YouTube and other sorts and seem to kinda get mixed reviews. So I figured I’d ask for some recommendations. Seems like the guys on here are more knowledgeable. I’m looking to spend somewhere between 2500-3000 on a rifle. Ideally to shoot long range (1000+) for my own enjoyment, as well as maybe some entry level or community level shooting competitions in the future. Again, I’ve read good and bad reviews about some of these and recommendations on others but haven’t really found any solid reviews etc. If you have other suggestions as well throw those in too. It seems based off the reviews here the MPA and Seekins are the best bets. I’ve considered going the Curtis custom action route, with an MDT chassis as well. But I feel like I’m going to be off in the woods by the time I’m done as far as price goes.

I noticed a small puddle of water this morning underneath my handler on the basement floor and followed it up to a red plug on the side of the unit. I dried up the water and tightened the little plug (it was barely tight at all. Actually kind of loose) don’t worry, I didn’t bare down on it just did finger right and about 2 degrees of a turn with a crescent. Just a tiny bump. However, it’s still leaking very slowly.

What is this plug for? Does it need to be drained? Is this Indicative of a bigger problem?

HVAC is definitely not one of my strong suits! But I am very handy with tools and have enough common sense to figure shit out but I’ve always been intimidated with HVAC stuff. Especially when it’s nearly summer.

Any help would be awesome!

I was reading the news today and this little gem came across about how the Supreme Court issued a bitchslap to Minnesota (Strangely 9-0 along with a 9-0 dickslap to the EPA--small victories I guess).

TLDR summary: Old Lady owed 15,000 in back taxes, MN seized her condo, sold it for 40,000 and kept the change. Seems like a slam dunk for the Old Lady but somehow it got all the way to the Supreme Court.

Anyway, like I am prone to do (much to the annoyance of everyone here at times) I had a WTF moment and decided to look into the details. It get WORSE.

Then the fact that both circuit AND appeals court ruled against here on the basis that she had other debts (like a mortgage, and homeowners dues) so she shouldn't get the money. (lol you still owe but you cannot get the money from when we sold your house!)

Let me say that I am normally a pretty UN-emotional person. Very little gets me going anymore.... I also read extensively on military history, many many on WWll.
I ran into this guy at the post office today... As he shuffled in I thought just another old guy who wishes he did more exciting things when he was physically able.
Then I saw his cap.... B-17 Flying Fortress WWll. I was amazed... I asked him if he did fly in B-17's..... He replied yes..... 29 missions... 4 on D Day. He said he will be 100 years old tomorrow. I stood there for a minute and tears started flowing.... I thanked him and said God bless you. I walked out of the post office and got in my car to get my shit together... Don't know what came over me, but it hit hard. My dad flew with the RCAF in England from 44-45.

I see that the Thermion XG-50s are currently heavily discounted and was wondering if there are any serious issues with the units, or is inventory being eliminated due to new products expected soon? other feedback I’ve seen on here seems to be favorable for the most part. I’m in the southeast and looking for a unit for use on .223 and possibly up to .308 AR type rifles. Humidity is a concern. Shots wouldn’t exceed 300 yds, but would mostly be 200 yds or less. A 14 year old student at an all-girls boarding school in Mahdia, Guyana doused a hallway with accelerent and set the building ablaze in the middle of the night as students slept. Nineteen people were killed as the fire gutted the building, including the 5 year old son of the dorm mother. Earlier, the dorm mother had confiscated the teen's cell phone when an illicit sexual relationship between the girl and a much older man had been discovered, prompting her to issue a threat that she would 'kill everyone here' if the phone was not returned. Bodies, most of the victims burned beyond recognition, are still being retrieved from the rubble of the dorm building as authorities contemplate what to charge the 14 year old mass murderer with.

I’m trying to match as closely as possible the trajectory of my heavy 6.5x47 to a soon-to-be built compact 6.5 PRC (for a hunting rifle). What is the minimum barrel length for the PRC that will get a 140 class bullet to around 2750?
